Lawrie Sanchez in as a caretaker for the last 5 games. I reckon this will backfire bigtime, dreadful time to sack a manager.
why sack him now, what a stupid decision. and hes been a good manager for them, i suppose he hasnt made much progress but still kept them in the prem for like 3/4 seasons.
Absolutely ridiculous. That's short term memory for you. He's done a fantastic job there with very little money, he's got a nice little team there and although they're not doing that well currently are a good side and have been pretty decent for the last few years. He'll have no problems finding a new job.
Maybe we can get some of their players in summer if they come down dont get on with manager??? Doubt it though.
Pure flippin madness by fulham. Who do they think they are, after 10 years of hard work hes got them where they are, what else do they expect him to do other than keep them in the premiership, they've hardly got the squad to push for europe have they, fulham are a small club like us and with a small fan base like us and not a great stadium. Bad move for sanchez, making a great reputation for himself with northern ireland, this could ruin it, although i spose if its only 5 games it can't be that bad.
panic decision. I can only assume they are thinking that those first 2 or 3 games where a manager often comes in and the players raise their game will be enough to secure the points they need for this season. obviously depends on who they bring in the summer but could be rooted at the bottom by xmas for the next season if they do stay up.
The Northern Irish FA admitted a few weeks ago they would find it hard to stop Sanchez's desire to manage in the premier league. If they stay up I wouldn't be surprised if this became a permanent appointment. It's not as if Al-Fayed can't afford the compensation
Don't panic, I can't see Aidy going there at all. It'd be a sideways move at best. I wouldn't be surprised if Mr.Newell ended up there though...
I'm upset purely because Coleman had a massive bust-up with Heidar recently - I was hoping to get him back on the cheap.
Shame, i don't think they would have gone down even with Coleman as manager. Though i guess the situation is simillar to us 2004/05 season, and unlike with Luton they haven't left it too late. I think Coleman is a good, young, honest manager, but he has struggled this season due to a lack of quality signings and because he was forced to sell key players. I guess his sacking also means Collins John will now be given a chance to show what he can do...
Always liked Coleman, never afraid to have ago at players or refs if he feels that have performed babdly. They have been affected by injuries and Jimmy Bullard in particular, I think he was going to be the main man for them this season. Adie will never consider it, Fayed does not put much money in there nowadays and as other have said, just a sideways movement. Newell has no chance, he will be off to Leicester at best as they have have just sacked their manager apparently.
Never liked Coleman. Don't care he was sacked. Don't think he was a particularly great manager. Fulham have, however, shot themselves in the foot. Sanchez can do nothing different from Coleman, and there is no bigger incentive for the players than there was with Coleman. If they don't get picked, they are only 4 or 5 matches from the end of the season so can leave. Stupid move.
Here in yankland, United and Chelsea are popular among the great unwashed masses, but next is likely Fulham (keeping in mind that 'soccer' is a distant fifth behind football, basketball, baseball and hockey). This is probably due to the fact that there are three USA team members there. Anyway, when this first happened, I heard a lot of people concerned about the disposition of the McBride, Dempsey and Bocanegra with Coleman's departure. Were they just brought there because Coleman has a thing for American's or will they be alright in the premiership next season should they remain up?
I'm sure there would be many Premiership clubs willing to snap him up. He isn't exactly prolific, but he has a great head on him and sets up some good goals.
