Ok. A thread for either-or. So first one. Watford finish 7th and get to the semi final of the cup but the scum get promoted and liverpool win the league. OR Watford finish 8-10th and don't get into Europe and go out of the cup today but Liverpool don't win the league and the scum don't get promoted, spiralling in a second season relegation back to division 2. This is a tough one for me. While Watford getting back into Europe is a mahusive achievement, firstly the Europa League isn't as memorable or desirable as it was back in the 80's and is frankly a bit **** now, it would probably affect our league title challenge next year, and Thursday games will mean Sunday league games which are a pain in the arse. Plus scum being in the championship and the red lot of Liverpool never shutting the feck up about it for the next 50 years and Klopps grinning spectacled face all over the news forever more. Or the alternative? I mean, we may not be this close to Europe for another few years but the alternative is a lot to bear. We have a great team and may get this close again next year. A tough one for me.
There wasn’t a Europa League in the 80s. Do you mean the UEFA Cup? I don’t really care about other clubs. 7th for me (though I’d take winming the Cup over that).
Option A sounds good, I dont care who wins the league if it isnt us and it would be nice if our main rivals were more relevant.
8-10th still isn't a failure. I guess it all depends on how important and how bothered you are about the Europa League. Perhaps my indifference to the Europa competition makes it a much closer call for me as personally it's just a place or 2 lower than 7th. And knowing a few plastic Liverpool fans too, it would be unbearable listening to them .
I know I have a slightly vested interest due to Mr HH24's football allegiance but, whatever your views on Liverpool fans, I would venture that there are far fewer plastic Liverpool supporters than there are for the likes of Man Utd and Chelsea, for example. Anyway, I am in both @PhilippineOrn and @cyaninternetdog 's camps - option A for me every time.
I'd take option B if it was only one league place. I don't want the upset of another cup semi defeat, don't want the scummers promoted and don't want the scousers to ever with the league again.
You're never more than 5 metres away from a Liverpool fan. Never is this more apparent than on holiday. You cannot watch a game of football at a bar abroad, without an angry, red-faced (and often sunburnt) Liverpool fan being generally loud and discourteous. The idea of the worst of British holiday-makers being rewarded is too bitter a pill to swallow. So there's no real option for me. I'd take Watford going into administration to watch Liverpool get relegated. I'd head straight to the hotel bar to drown my sorrows, and I doubt I'd even need a drink to cheer myself up.
so people would turn down a european tour in exchange for misery for the scum and liverpool? No chance!
A. No question, much as I would like the scum to fail and generally fall apart, Us getting to Europe for me is a huge achievement
DO care about Watford's success DON'T mind if Liverpool win the league (though would like it to add the Everton's displeasure) DON'T give a **** about Luton coming up or going down; they're still well below us in the table and as a club) So, 7th please.
Do we really care about the Europa league? It's not as if we haven't been in Europe before. I'd rather we won the cup and got relegated, what's the point of being in the prem if you don't use that as a base to attack the winnable trophies. Wigan and Pompey still dine out on their cup win. Where are they now? I hear you ask. We'll they are still going to games, still enjoying the football and still singing how they won the cup. Could you imagine scum coming up and winning the Facup -aaarrrgh.
