Following the Wigan result things are looking pretty bleak for us and WSpam, still reckon Charlton are in with a shout .... would love to see the Blades sucked in !!

IMO Ady should treat the next 10 games (ex FA Cup) mainly to prepare the team for next season and indulge us with a little experimentation as well as dropping the dead wood ... football played on the ground ????

It would be far better to be remembered as a team with spirit that tried to play a bit as well rather than a team of triers who hoofed it up to Doris at every opportunity.

I agree with you, except that I would prefer less experimentation and more stability... Aidy should decide the team that he expects to start next season with and play them. That will give them a chance to gel and establish the sort of instinctive understanding with each other that the great teams all have.

    I would go for;

    Lee

    Mariappa, Demerit, Shittu, Stewart

    Mahon, Cavalli

    Smith, Priskin, Kabba, Bouazza

Subs: GK, Doyley, Williams/Williamson, Henderson, Hoskins

i did the predictor again, and with some lucky results against mid table teams, we can still do it, the teams around us have hard games and on mine i got to the las t day of the season on 33pts, charlton on 27 and west ham less. wigan and shef utd are each on 34 and play eaach other, meaning we draw and it goes to gd, or we win and we stay up.
its still worth fighting for survial.
not so we can go down with a fight, but to survive.

I would definitely experiment - I mean can it get much worse anyways. And who knows - the experiments could be what wins us the FA cup in the end.

Also - it will give periphiral players some experience. Let Williamson, Williams, Hoskins and Cavalli get more games as it will be a good investment for next season's push for promotion.

Let's see Priskin on the pitch, more of Cavalli, Williamson, Williams and Hoskins. Not necessarily all at once, but Aidy must have bought them for a reason?

Whilst there is a mathe, atical chance of us staying up we sould do our level best to stay up, no matter how unlikely.

This does not mean we continue to play hoofball though.

The reason was that he needed to bring in players and they were all he could attract!

Fight 4 survival all the way till the end. Those that havent fought come newcastle should be dumped immediately on the transfer list and/or released.

There'll be enough money in the pot next year to bring in quality should we need a clear out.

Hoskins and Priskin should definitely be given a chance upfront together at some point this season, and I’d like to see whether Williams and Williamson can work together.

I wouldn’t make too changes for Charlton though because it is our last game we should realistically win and I think some continuity may be more important.

Ive seen nothing of either and i can only imagine Aidys been unhappy with various attitudes... Poor old Rotherham fans must hate us right now!

Priskin and Hoskins were shocking together up front away to Villa, not enough presence together, however in the the Championship it might be a different story.

Personally i'd love to see Marlon and Priskin together next season. Pace, technique and movement from Marlon and Priskin with his strikers instincts would surely generate goals!

I think we should definitely play Hendo and Priskin up front next game, and let Kabba come on for Hendo if things don't work. Or perhaps try Kabba on the right wing to see what options we've got? Priskin needs all the Premiership experience he can get before we go down. I honestly believe he will become a great striker for us.

I'd also like to see Bang Bang play the remaining matches. All the experience he can suck up in the Premiership will be vital for his development. Pair him up with Williams in central midfield. He's supposed to be a great passer, isn't he? We certainly need that... I think Bang Bang's ball control will be a lot better as well once the rest of the team starts playing the ball and once he's "settled" more in the first team. Confidence is the key.

Hoskins seems to have a long way to go. Perhaps a loan to the Championship would do him good? I have the same feeling with Williamson.

I don't really see the point in playing Mahon and Francis in the remaining matches. Personally, I think they should be sold in the summer. Give Cavalli and Rinaldi a chance in central midfield instead, as cover for Bang Bang and Williams.

Here's the team I'd like to see during the end of the season:

    -------------------Foster------------------

    ---Mariappa---Carlisle---Shittu---Stewart---

    ---Smith----Williams---Bangura---Bouazza--

    --------------Priksin----Hendo-------------

Subs: Lee, DeMerit, Rinaldi, Cavalli, Kabba

I went to the Villa game, i agree they were poor, but it was the first time they'd played together, and i think all strikers need a bit of time to 'gel' especially at a young age. To be honest we were lucky how Marlon and Hendo hit it off from the start.

Agree that Priskin and King should be the main strike force next season though, with Hendo and either Kabba or Hoskins as back up.

Psssht to all of you. Hendo and King up front next season i say, and then keep priskin as a backup.

Unless..we see how king and priskin work together because its all good saying those two up front but we havent actually seen them play together!

if preparing for a season in the championship, does anyone think 4-3-3 would be a good formation?
it will beat anyone trring to play defensively and ew could revert to 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 away.
then if we come back up, we could adjust it to a 4-5-1.

    4 - 2 - 4

It's the only formation for REAL football teams. None of that namby-pamby man-in-the-hole crap or building from the back. Win the ball, get it upfield, pump it into the box and try to score. Rinse and repeat.

When Watford does it... it's hoofing, when Brazil does it, it's class.

You have to have some variation on how you move the ball. The long cross is a beautiful part of the game, but even I agree that sometimes you need to run at and beat a player or five.

I just find that most teams that pride themselves on their passing ability tend to play really boring football. Sure, do short passes when appropriate, but keep the option available for a long cross-field pass to quickly move the ball into danger.

Bouazza and Smith are both quality wingers... they take on players and run with the ball when they can, but they also cross the ball when needed. Our biggest problem has usually been having a single player anywhere near the opposition penalty box. The cross comes over and the opposition clears it. End of story.

We need to play with our strikers attacking the penalty box and making space for the crosses to come in. Our central midfielders can worry about pumping the ball back in if the opposition clear the first attempt. Keep the opposition goal under pressure and we'll score more than they do.

Instead, we pump the ball into the box and it gets cleared and, IF we recover it, we end up passing it back to the wings. If we don't recover it, we are immediately on the defensive and our attacking players have to track back blunting our next attack.

Different teams DO have different styles of play. I was raised during GT's first reign and, for me, Watford's style is 4-2-4. I don't care if people call it "Hoof and Hope"... if we have the right players, it works. Personally, I think that we have those players and I'd like Aidy to have the courage of his instincts and tell the critics exactly which orifice they should stuff their opinions into.

    Just my opinion, of course.

    i agree.
after all i can pass like arsenal, its not hard to pass between you center backs until the striker gets annoyed and comes out of position to break your legs. it then goes forward and unless there is an opening back it goes.
the best games are box to box, not each team playing keep possesion.
    HOOF POWER!
