For a silly laugh ‘What we do in the shadows’ delivers. Very rude, very daft vampire comedy.

3/4 of the way through the first series. Started brilliantly but it's just starting to get a little silly. As soon as the credibility starts to wane, and they start to look too hard for the jokes/funny situations, I will switch off. Hopefully it gets back into the "unlikely but possible and exciting" rather than continuing into "how stupid, that could never happen" territory.

Just the last one to watch now. It's been good, stick with it.

I watched the first season of American Gods and apart from being 'different' and 'weird' it offered nothing in terms of a proper narrative. I didn't bother with the second.

Disagree. Its completely up its own arse.

There was a good premise for 4 feature length episodes but it jumped the shark before the end of the first season.

It's quirky and funny in places but its pretty much on a loop now and has been for some time.

I'm enjoying Inspector Moltalbano as ever .
A cat in last week's episode and a dog last night.
Ford and Arthur impressed but Springwatch is still their favourite!

Arrived in the UK yesterday and just seen an advert for Catch 22, starting on Channel 4 this Thursday at 9. I watched the whole series at home a few weeks ago, and I’d highly recommend.

Details the struggle of a WW2 pilot in Italy to deal with the pressures of combat, along a brilliant touch of humor.

I did see a trailer and it seemed very strange. Black comedy? Not seen a decent WW2 series since Band of Brothers.

Yep enjoying this. Just watched the Topiary garden episode the bit about the Energy & emotional vampires had me in stitches.
I wonder how many members on here are energy vampires?

Based on the 2014 film which I'm going to search out now. It's been renewed for another series.

I loved the film so was worried about the series, however I loved it, they've captured the same magic - which isn't surprising as Taika Waititi directed a few episodes and Jermaine Clement are heavily involved.

I've watched the whole season at least twice on Kodi.

    Creepy paper!
    Crepe paper
    Creepy paper!

Nandor's address to the city council had me howling along with the ingestion of human food.

The Trial episode was the best.

However, the greatest line is from the film..."Remember, Werewolves, not swearwolves"

Yep. The bit where he rises again is a complete rip off of the Bobby Ewing, Dallas saga, though the "Who crucified Jesus" cliffhanger was good.

Be warned - the film is at a very different pace and the performances of the vampires (notably Jermaine Clement's and Taikia Wititi's) are very, very understated - so much so that it took me quite a while to get used to Matt Berry's over-the-top schtick.

The use of Un-Zud as the setting of the film...
uses it's awesomeness/shitness really well when it beomes apparent that the vampires were aiming for "The New World" a marvellous gag that's missing from the TV series.

I have to say I never really liked the Colin Robinson character in the TV series but his turns in some of the later episodes (notably "The Orgy") are just fantastic and completely reversed my opinion. The Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) character wasn't in the film and really, really should have been.

But there's a difference The Bible's the root of quite a wars whilst Catch 22 is, possibly, the greatest satire/anti-war book ever written.

I wasn’t suggesting it was good - though I think the consensus is that it is - I just got the impression from your post that you hadn’t heard of it. Apologies if I misconstrued.

Song of Songs is very sensual and celebrates sexuality, albeit within the context of marriage.

    Sample:
1 How beautiful you are, my darling!
Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes behind your veil are doves.
Your hair is like a flock of goats
descending from the hills of Gilead.
2 Your teeth are like a flock of sheep just shorn,
    coming up from the washing.
Each has its twin; not one of them is alone.
    3 Your lips are like a scarlet ribbon;
    your mouth is lovely.
    Your temples behind your veil
are like the halves of a pomegranate.
4 Your neck is like the tower of David,
    built with courses of stone;
on it hang a thousand shields,
all of them shields of warriors.
5 Your breasts are like two fawns,
like twin fawns of a gazelle
    that browse among the lilies.

All highly charged, erotic stuff, full of great chat up lines....
