Ten-Hag touted yesterday that he’s been impressed since the World Cup and he has a role to play. Can’t see this one happening - that said, Jason Burt is pretty well connected to Watford goings-on.
Yeah I do wonder if Pellistri may have changed minds last night. Was v good in his first United appearance so that does seem like an obstacle. That said the article just reports our interest. Doesn’t sound like anything is that imminent but that the agent wants him to go out on loan and we’ve put out our stall. Would be happy with this one.
Yeah I think Utd would be a bit silly to loan him out given they're currently giving Elanga minutes - Pellistri will definitely offer them more than him. But with Sancho due back soon Pellistri could understandably end up with a frustrating lack of minutes with them again, in which case it makes sense why he'd push for another loan. Pellistri is a good player and would be very good in the Championship. I'd be happy if we brought him in for RW and maybe used Sema at LB instead of Kamara. It seems strange that this would be a priority for us though, given that he's not really a goalscorer or a CM, and those are the two areas which I still feel are the most important for us.
Saw it reported elsewhere that he also had loan offers from Valencia and Santos but wanted to stay and try force his way into the team.
Sounds like Bilic has had an eye on him for a while but Slav probably doesn’t get much of a day when it comes to final deals . https://strettynews.com/2023/01/11/...ellistri-on-loan-for-remainder-of-the-season/
You don’t get anything more reliable re transfer rumours than Jason Burt at The Telegraph. I’m getting my shirt printed already - lol!
Bilic has been very clear that he views winger as a priority. Has been saying this since early December and repeated it a number of times. With Martins, Sema, Sarr and Kalu - we have four but fitness/experience questions over most of those. I agree that Sema we would be better off with at LB. Wingers also seem to be the subs who change games most (as Pellistri/Rashford showed yesterday). Burt seems to be close to Bilic - he did a random interview with him in August and has broken a lot of Bilic related news over the years so this one hopefully has some legs. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...nterview-england-where-made-name-ticks-boxes/
Unsurprisingly, Pellistri isn’t keen on the Championship. https://theathletic.com/4081584/202...er-news-pellistri/?source=user_shared_article
Get him here pronto. Aside from the assassin Britos he would be our second Uruguayan. Come on over and enjoy playing with our chumps in the Chumpionship lad.
Considering when he said that in the interview he also said that CM was a priority - at the same time that we'd just announced Martins and Kone - I do wonder if he was just referring back to winger and CM having been a priority in the past, as an explanation why it was obvious we needed to sign Martins and Kone. Does he actually want to play or not? He's already been on loan two seasons in a row to La Coruna in La Liga and only played about 6 games each time.
Indeed, I remembered the wrong Deportivo. This is one occasion where I did make a genuine mistake, which I will readily admit to, and your correction was valid.
I guessed that what you did but I am quite sure that Pellistri played quite a few games in his last spell at Alaves.
You're correct, 21 appearances in the league - only totalling just over 650 minutes, though, which means an unfortunate tendency to appear in cameo form/as a second half substitute. He seems to have almost totally lost his place in the side towards the end of the season, but then again, who knows, and context is king - they might have favoured players they owned and knew would be with them the following season, they might have switched playing style/formation, he might have been refusing to play in a bid to force them to give him an operation no one else believes he should have had. There could well be all kinds of explanations that would help inform that statistic.
They were relegated and came bottom of La Liga - maybe tried to play more experienced players in order to try and get around of that situation? Already made one more assist for Man U in a fleeting sub appearance the other night than at any stage on loan.
540 minutes in his first spell, 665 in his second spell. 665 minutes is basically nothing for an entire season.
Bilic mentioned him in the presser today and said "hopefully we are going to do something there" - would be very strange to say if he's as cold on the move as being reported!
Pellistri had 5 different managers in 2 seasons at Alaves, it was a terrible loan for him in general and I wouldn't put a lot of stock in his performances, or lack thereof, because the club was a complete disaster and was trying to fight off relegation for two straight years. Not a situation in which you can give a 19-20 year old on loan a ton of chances to learn and improve.
