Anyone remember the good old days when we used to care?

    I miss those days too.

I thought he tried his best to create a couple of openings and drew a foul out wide with some smart play too. Corners woeful but that's about normal as we don't seem to practice taking them.

Certainly wouldn't have said his cameo was worthy of being picked out for good or for bad.

I actually think our academy is now churning out some players with decent potential. In my head, I'm comparing them to our previous lot and seeing whether they have the technical ability and the ability. So far we've seen Mason (who did well against a mid-table Champ side and ok against Spurs), Stewart (no Prem game yet), Folivi (who did meh vs Stoke) and Pereira (who was good against Leicester in his little cameo). Two out of 4 ain't too bad. They need more game time though

Oh, and special mention must go to the insistence on using 3--5-2 with only one fit centre half. That takes stubborn cungedness to a whole new level

The sad thing is that its so predictably. A not bad defensive performance, with one big mistake, undoing us. Because we just don't look like scoring. We have no cutting edge. You should be able to ride out 1 mistake but for us its the difference between 1-0 and 0-0 the moment.

Maybe I'm reading too much into his body language but just looked like he couldn't be bothered to me. If the ball happened to make its way to him sure, he'd try and cut inside and score a wonder goal but showed no interest in putting any effort in off the ball, either defensively or making any positive forward movement.

I get the feeling in your mind I'm one of these apologists but even I agree with you. Out of all the players you highlighted, the only two I'd keep are Doucoure (crap performance today but generally he's been good) and Janmaat (don't think he's all that but he's shown some brief glimpses of quality, more than the others). As much as I shouldn't be telling you what to do as well, we have to turn up and back the team. We've seen worse ***** than this and still turned up

I can't think of what's more depressing. Reading the usual reactionary crap on here or watching us play 3 5 2 again. I' m not sure why I do either.
Best post if the night has to be HB 1 stating the injuries are due to the intensity of training.

I always respect your opinion as a poster. I agree about Doucoure. He is the one positive in many recnet performances. I think Janmaat has slipped under the radar regarding responsibility for our overall *****ness, but to my mind he epitomizes the soft belly element of our team. A good overlap once every 4 games is not enough.

I watched us get relegated from the 2nd tier in the Petchey era, but I enjoyed it more than this season.

I don't believe I've seen a more mercenary, can't be arsed, clueless bunch of c**ts wearing the shirt, led by a coach who is clearly - just clearly unqualified for the role. If Mazarri is not sacked, then for me it shows that the owners of the club have completely different values and judgement from me. I don't want to watch 25 charlatans ******* around, stealing a living in a Watford shirt again for another year. I'd rather 11 cheaper, less talented players have their all and left nothing out on the pitch every game. This season has been horrendous from my point of view. But there will be someone to take my place, so the circle of life is complete.

The sad thing is I'm just resigned to **** performances and have zero expectation of a win, a goal, some excitement, and lately, even a few shots on target.

My passion has gone and for any football fan, that is the worst.

I'm used to Watford punching above our weight with passion, energy, desire, even when the skill wasn't there.

I just feel empty - I got what I expected tonight - nothing, and I can't see it changing with Walter in charge.
It's gone too far.... he is incapable or unwilling to change, and I agree with a lot of your post ...

Strangely enough the fact we only lost 1-0 has made me a lot happier about our chances of survival. As even I think the likelihood of us ending up with a -8 GD over our last 2 games is pretty slim. However, if we had lost by 2/3 goals tonight, a total -6 or-7 goals would have looked very possible against the likes of Chelsea and Man City.

I'm still confident we will stay up, but we must still remember we are not mathematically safe unless Hull fail to win tomorrow.

I actually hope we do get beaten 5 and 6 to nil and that Hull, Palace and Swansea all fight their way above us. It's not going to happen, though, because one of those three at least will finish on fewer than 40 points.

I'd prefer to see us relegated than continue into next season in the premier league as we have played out the last quarter of this season

You can continue with your denial, but you look more and more foolish by sticking to your guns.

When you can see how poor the team is playing, which you are completely oblivious to, then there's high probability we will lose the lot, which is what has happened.

You just thought, because we've not lost that many games in a row before, it would not happen. Your version of probability has steered you away from the reality of the situation.

But, your main aim is to score points and win an argument, so you can carry on with your little jibes, but I know who will be closer to the truth of how it all panned out, by the end of the season.

This hits the nail on the head for me. My expectations of watching anything resembling entertaining or gutsy football have been lowered so much over the last two seasons that I feel grateful if we complete a decent passing move, even if it leads to nothing. Then I think about it a bit more and think shouldn't that be the norm, or at least a regular occurrence? Last season we had a plan, albeit an extremely unambitious one and one we weren't prepared to depart from even when the wheels came off. This season I've been trying to see what we're attempting, and trying to give the coach the benefit of the doubt but really have no idea. We're not an attacking side, we're not a passing side, we're not a counter attacking side, we're not a defensive side, we just exist picking up enough points to (probably) stay in the Premier League and showing a glimpse of something better three or four times a season before sinking back into a shapeless mess of a team.

I thought we looked OK until Kabasele went off. Not great, still a bit cumbersome, but I thought players were playing in a formation I could understand. After Kabasele went off I found myself thinking we had 10 men. It was an utter shambles after that. Surely, you keep it simple with a back 4 and play Janmaat and Holebas as right and left backs respectively and put Niang or Amrabat into midfield to give Schiederlin and co. something to think about? WTF were Mazzari and Fruitloops thinking putting Zuniga at wing-back then wide midfield, then pushing Janmaat up without any support, then having Niang, Janmaat and Zuniga all over there? As so often this season, I didn't get what we were trying to do, and was just hoping something would break for us, the keeper would screw up, someone (or preferably two someone's) would get sent off, or Robles would gift a clearance to Deeney...It's like watching your third division team up against a first division one in the cup...but without the grit and determination.

If Gino retains Mazzarri, which appears to be 99% certain with this cringeworthy drink thing, then he's just an Italian Mike Ashley. Simply happy with the Premier League and the money it brings and **** you if you don't find our yearly slog to 40 points entertaining. Because your season ticket price is going up.
