I've noticed Ashley Young isn't in the Under 21 squad for the game against Romania. Does anybody know why this is?

The reasons I can think of are, he's been dropped, he's injured, he may be called into the main squad or is he too old now?? I'm not sure, can anybody shed some light on this for me please?

Born July 1985. He's 22. He is now too old.

I thought there was some kind of amnesty where 22 year olds could play provided they were born in a certain month or something along those lines. Leroy Lita was 22 in this summers European Championship. My knowledge is sketchy.

I was confused in the summer too so looked it up. Apparently a player can play past the age of 21 so long as he was under 21 when the qualifying period for a tournament started. Hence Reo Coker playing at the age of 23. A new tournament qualification cycle will have started now so he's too old I think.

Anyone think of any of our players who should get the call up?

Alec Chamberlain could get two call ups.
