hadnt seen a post on it yet, anyone go? thoughts? the late goal was dissapointing, but its only a frienndly the substitutions were poor - downing and jenas compared to beckham and cole? why???:mad4:
Just got back. Missed the goal because we left early to beat the train rush. Same old england really, nothing to shout about! (Apart from our goal, that was quite good!) I spotted 1 watford flag so well done if that was anyone on here!!
Have just got back myself. The stadium is absolutely breathtaking. I sat 7 rows from the back and it's just amazing to behold. Football was meh really. We huffed and we puffed and Beckham showed them how it's done but we didn't look world class. Shorey isn't anywhere near international class, Carragher isn't a full back in the mould we need, Lampard is sh*te and Smith had a poor match.
Flicked between the football and golf highlights on Sky. The game passd me by really, didn't even see the last goal. It was a very unimspiring game from a TV spectactors point of view. Carragher is possibly the best central defender after Terry and is definately not a right back and I agree that Shorey is not really the answer on the left. Alan Smith disapointed me a lot, he should have been able to hold the ball up btter and his first touch was shocking at times.
Alan Smith disappointed me too. I've been quietly impressed with what I've seen of him for Manure recently and really hoped he'd step up to the plate tonight. No doubt he'll look better against Estonia though.
I enjoyed it at lunch time. Beckham thrilled & amazed, but the choices & timing of substitutions didn't do much for me. It's only a friendly, so I didn't really care but it was predictable they'd get one in late. Wes Brown's foible was miserable though. Imagine if that had gone in?
I'll try and get some pictures up tomorrow if people are interested? As they need cropping and resizing I'll not bother if no one is fussed
I am in none of them you will be pleased to hear. Just my shots of the stadium from the inside. Probably for the best having seen some of the lot on here!
The view from my seat After the game Me and my lame excuse of a watford flag Walking up Wembley way WE ARE ENGLAND John Terry just scored Inside after the game What a great ground...
booooooooooooooooooooooooring game. what is it with joe cole and rubbish step overs? every 5 mins he was moving his legs in a very slow circular motion to no avail whatsoever
I actually thought lampard did well he did some really goo link up play in the middle of park. alan smith might as well of not showed up. The england squad has a very long way to go.
Some pictures of mine (click them to expand) Big sign Stadium full nearing kick off Welcome Home And St.George Under the lights View on the way out back up Wembley Way
Can't complain about mine at all. Paid £37.50 for my ticket, was 7 rows from the back but basically on the halfway line. Odd as it sounds you really don't feel that far away from the action. I felt more distant in the Holte End at Villa Park than I did at Wembley last night!
Quality day out, got home at around 4am. Didnt think much of the game, just a typical England match really. Caps have just been added for last night, so am steadily climbing up the table which is good.
we played poor in the 1st half but improved in the 2nd if we had all our players fit i would pick foster g.neville carragher terry a.cole becks stevie g hargreaves j.cole owen rooney lampard was alright last night but couldn't be bothered to go forward PS did u see how small the brazil section was:]]
Small it might have been (still 3000 of them) but they were by far the loudest consistently. And Lampard wasn't alright - he couldn't control the ball, couldn't pass straight AND couldn't be bothered to go forward.
Away fans are always loudest mate. It's all to do with being banded together. Last night it seemed like there were several areas trying to start songs and vast swathes of the "sit down, shut up" brigade in between!
Pretty7 poor game, watched around the first 15 minutes in Yates', and spent the rest of the game outside having a beer- checking with the odd glance.
frist half very boring the second half was alot more intresting and well done to beckham thought he played really well and show us what we been missing. once terry went off we seemed to lose it at the back hence why it finshed 1-1
It shows how far we HAVEN'T come. Any team that hopes to win things needs to be able to concentrate in the final minutes of a match. The next few months are going to be so unexiting for England.
You have to give them a bit of a break moog. We arguably started with our second choice defence due to injuries and ended it with our third choice (after the subs). They were never likely to keep out Brazil.
I am proud to say i was in one of those small areas singing (most of the time)... but i heard no 'sit down shut ups', might have something to do with being right at the back an not really hearing many people in front
