Me too. There was a lot of extrapolation of his previous behaviour with the bus seat story and seemingly the dive in form that coincided with his AFCON issue, however he never seemed to stop trying and was the best player at the club during his time here. For me, this is the best signing since, well, since we signed him last time.
It's a 898 year curse now and I believe it expires if we re-sign the player that the curse was created for. Kinda undoes the spell.
Although we’ve obviously become a lot more stable these days (hurray), if we sign Dennis then his first match back for us will be his 36th and for a 5th different Head Coach!
I used to listen to TalkSport religously when I was younger. Nowadays I cannot stand it. Simon Jordon is one of the hardest people to listen to outside of Micheal Owen on pundit duty.
I’m not particularly fussed who is responsible for the signing, because either way you look it’s positive. If it’s an Ismael signing then kudos to him. So was Livermore, and he’s not worked out so badly. If it’s a Nani signing, then it shows he’s back with a bang as it’s a very impressive first one since he replaced Giaretta. And perish the thought, if it’s an owner signing then at least he has got something right amid a myriad of awful decisions these past few years. My actual hope is it’s a mix of all three, as that would show everybody is pulling in the right direction and our thinking is joined up for once.
Apparently Dennis instigated it in offering himself to the club, at that point I’m sure it just took Val’s seal of approval. He loved the he club and played his best football here, he’s had a tough few years since leaving and this is his best opportunity to gain that good feeling again. Hopefully with that comes a big confidence boost and lots of goals
Hang on, is it true he's been injured since November? I don't recognise this poster's name. Is he part of the ITK crew? Tim? Jim? Please advise.
I agree, I think this is because it is basically fans calling up and speaking their mind. I also quite like the presenters from Voices of the Vic I think they say their opinions and don't have as much entitlement and are bit less I am right and every one else is wrong. Hornets Buzz I think it is called is good because they analyse the game well in my opinion. However, fair play to all of the people taking their time out to produce this for the fans, the various podcasts often make my monotonous drive to work a little bit less tedious. Anyway has he had his medical yet? I have been checking my phone all day, I reckon I will need counselling if this one falls through at this stage .
Having just watched a Dennis highlights video from 21/22 season... oh boy! If he has his head right, he is unplayable and he really suits the colours of Watford. Clearly he wants to help us with a playoff push and that could reignite both his career and also our fortunes. I'm all for this. As much as the current team is at, it lacks a bit of swagger and Dennis will bring that in spades.
I don’t know, but wasn’t aware this was a potential issue. However Val said earlier in Jan they would likely avoid free agents as anyone we sign we would want ready for the here and now. Would also be bizarre to sign an injured player on a 4 month loan
I prefer Do Not Scratch Your Ears. Might start my own called DNPYNEI - Do Not Pick Your Nose and Eat It.
Yeah I got similar feelings from watching his Watford goals. You could say ‘yeah but we don’t have Pedro or Sarr for him to play off’, but he is not the sort of player that will go anonymous unless he’s got top talent around him. He makes things happen. And whilst no one would deny that Pedro made that team better, and Sarr was unplayable some of the time (much less than we needed), I would argue that Asprilla, chakvetatze, Kone & co will thrive around Dennis.
I think Dennis is similar to Pedro in that he goes searching for the ball and tries to do something, which means even if he’s not playing with great players he’s still effective. Sarr was quite the opposite.
Any hints on the midfielder big man? Val didn't seem like he was too bothered on a Livermore backup so im wondering what the profile of the player is Lots of talk about Camara from Udinese which seems like a very obvious move also
Not sure it even needs to be ‘putting anyone in their place’; hopefully more a case of Val telling Dennis ‘THIS is what I expect from you on the pitch, so go and do it.’ Some of his problems before may well have been caused by a lack of any kind of firm direction from the head coach.
I’ve personally had no names, also had no names on the striker so just think the hierarchy at the club have got better at keeping things in house
This reminds me, does anyone remember the feud him and Pedro seemed to have were they refused to pass to each other? Used to drive me up the wall but could have been in my head
