TBF it's the first time I've called it that too, but I was replying to a reply of Jossy's post, where he called it X originally.
Guilty as charged. I'm not a big user of 'X'/Twitter whatever, didn't even have an account until recently but once Musk had got his teeth in to it he stopped you being able to view anything without one so I had to sign up. I've never tweeted anything, just browse the Watford hashtag occasionally although it's dominated by so many Watford podcasts. The part that amuses me is when they create their own tweet regarding news from somewhere official and then put "source:....." instead of just retweeting the original. Each to their own, of course. Must be a generational thing, just not for me.
I have heard this too but the Premier League and UEFA have also confirmed that every goal scored by Man City throughout the period covering their (alleged) misdemeanours will also be subjected to a rigorous retrospective VAR - checking offsides, possible fouls and the heinous crime of 'moved foam' - to ensure the end result is absolutely fair and reflects the new reality. So, good news, our goose isn't quite cooked yet. As part of the fairness brief, Premier League and UEFA have combined to put "the best of the best officials" (their Press release refers) in charge of this process to ensure the absolute integrity of it and to avoid any further legal appeals. "We want this to be the end of the line so we can say this is really what would have happened", said Premier Chief Exec, Richard Masters, adding "with that in mind I have appointed Stuart Attwell and former referee Kevin Friend to ensure scrupulous fairness. Nobody can then possibly criticise us." I smell burning goose.
Had we just beaten Wolves at home in the league instead of in the FA Cup, then we'd have only needed to beat West Ham at home to qualify for Europe. That would have been much more likely than beating Man City in a game.
Quite a lot of ifs there, I'd also say that, even if we'd beaten Wolves in the league, it wouldn't have changed the fact that we were running on fumes, it's not as if the 1-4 to West Ham was a complete surprise
Would disagree that us beating Wolves at home in the league and West Ham at home in the league would be better odds than beating Wolves in the cup and Man City in the cup? I very much doubt it. For a reminder - since 2013 we played Man City 14 times and lost every single time.
I Cba to look the odds up (that’s your job) but it’s all irrelevant, we were closer to winning the cup (one win away in a one off game) than from qualifying for Europe (two wins away). That’s also not allowing for what other teams could’ve done to finish ahead of us. It’s also gamblers fallacy to take the 14 previous results against City and conflate that with the odds in a one off game. But it’s currently moot anyway, we had the opportunity to win two cups this season, whereas the probability of qualifying for Europe is exactly 0.0% because it isn’t at all possible.
He and his colleagues will be desperate for the move to go wrong, so they can double down on their weird agenda following this move.
Great signing, but even better if we can also get someone in to strengthen the defence, as it’s now 12 games without a clean sheet (13 including the FA Cup against a non-league team). But our attack, despite a decent goals tally, is a bit disjointed and with the threat of Dennis we can hopefully press teams more and prevent them from going forward so much.
Hasn't played much for a while so wouldn't be surprised. Give him 30 mins and maybe start at Sheff Wed next week
Has the midfielder deal gone t*** up then? Still not even a rumoured name. Suggests nothing will happen soon.
I asked my mate what’s the latest and he said everything is very quiet. He’s not heard anything since the Dennis signing on any other deals.
For all the short term excitement of Dennis, one perm out and one loan in. Transfer fee banked. The long term direction of travel under Pozzo is clear.
One loan in, Louza and Healey out with Pollock probably leaving too. We could end up far weaker after the window closes.
Yep agree short term. But Dennis is unobtainable long term and our star performers are 34 and 36 years old. Full back positions (aside from Andrews) look a disaster, and we are down to 2 strikers. Bachman and Ince munching decent wages from the bench. Massive overhaul needed again in the summer on likely zero budget! There is no building here under Pozzo, just gap filling until he can find someone to take over. I reckon we will sell Asprilla in the summer unfortunately.
