Derby have tabled a £3million bid for Watford striker Nathan Ellington. (Daily Express) good fee but I dont know whether i'd sell or not as I still think he will come good, espicially if were going to play better passing football
I have tried to defend his performances as much as possible but it has not worked for him. I will drive him there myself for that fee!
There's nothing to replace Nak. I've defended him many times this season but enough is enough. He's totally ineffective and even with the ball played into his feet more he hardly set the world on fire. We'd be better off with £3 million in the bank than a fat man up front who offers nothing whatsoever.
Yep, I know! I was sure he would eventually ome good at some point but the play off games showed him for his true worth. I would honestly take anything that was over a million quid for him. Possibly the worst transfer deal in the history of the club as at least most of the Italian blokes were freebies.
could a team thats just been relegated afford to spend 3 mil, on a striker thats done f**k all in the championship this season. Doubt it, but if true, close the door on your way out nathan!
hmm true, if this is Paul Jewell's idea of getting in players that want to wear and play for the derby shirt, i fear for them next season!
So after all the slating I got for calling him shyte, people have seen the light? Well, don't say I told you so.... Queue everyone saying "I said he was shyte"
If this is true I would sell him, I don't care if he goes on to play brilliantly for Derby, the fact is he has not fitted in here for whatever reason? So I would cut our losses and off load him, we will never get a better offer for him IMHO!!!
I can not believe that anyone would pay that sort of figure for him - anywhere close to that and he has to go. It will be no surprise but I have it on good authority that Hendo is deffo finished. Prisken is set to lead the line.
If Henderson does go it makes me wonder if Aidy WAS going to try and play a more passing game last season when he was more than ready to let Darius go to Preston, but ended up losing his nerve? I seem to remember he said Williamson was going to be a key player last year too, perhaps utilising his passing 'skills' more than his 'run up and down the middle of the field watching the ball sail over his head' ability?
I was quite happy for Henderson to go last season and I didn't want to buy Ellington. I don't mind whether Ellington stays or goes now but I do think we have seen a little more of what he can do recently and it wouldn't surprise me if he stayed and looked much better in a different style of football.
Thing is, he was useless with our style of football and he was as equally inept at West Brom's passing style. So what type of football would suit him? IMO you could mould a subbuteo base on to his feet and he wouldn't be any less effective.
I don't know what style of football Aidy has in mind for next season so if Ellington stays I just hope it's one that suits him.
£3m sounds great, but only if we can find a GOOD replacement, not some unknown youngster from League 2.
AH! Very perceptive wfc - I thought there must be a catch.:]] Still do the deal mind - if we can spend them at Orlando.
See many people noticed my post, or the fact that they're all so terribly wrong has made them ignore it. Perhaps I have to bump some old threads up later showing peoples support etc.
Hoofroyds sword of Damacles It is nightmare time for Mr Hoofroyd, keep him & he under performs again, he's fired by Christmas. If he performs (which I doubt) at best he has saved himself from the axe if only temporarily. Sell him & fail to get an adequate replacement who can actually put the ball in the net and again, he's out by Christmas
You make it sound so dramatic. A goal post would do the same job as The Lump and they don't cost much. Hes has ZERO affect on the team.
I've admitted I got it wrong. He's been b*llocks for us and I've tired of defending him. If we sell him for a good price we can write this whole charade off.
Not sure really. Has been rubbish for us but then he does not suit our current style which is to change if Aidy's words are true...I am yet to be convicned! Mind you he could at least look interested in games.
Ellington going ...good Henderson going...good Priskin to lead the line...you have got to be ***king joking! I wouldn't even trust him to paint the ***king lines. :dismay:
Championship linos are already undertaking rigorous arm strengthening exercises for the number of offside decisions expected in Watford matches.
I think The Duke will come good next season , With Jobi down the wing. We need to get a striker like Earnshaw and a midfielder like Hollahan from Blackpool. Also I like Lee but we need a new keeper. Some to replace Doyley and I dont think we will be a million miles away
