http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11698_2658609,00.html "Nathan Ellington has threatened to quit West Brom if he is not given a chance to start. The striker was on the bench at Burnley on Saturday and played only the final 20 minutes for Tony Mowbray's side. Ellington had hoped to see regular playing time for The Baggies this season after Diomansy Kamara joined Fulham over the summer. He was disappointed to be only a substitute against Burnley and could ask to leave if his situation does not change. "I don't know if I'll get a starting position - I guess it all depends on if the manager can see all the hard work I'm putting in," Ellington said in The Sun. "I don't know what I'm going to do to get in the team. Do I have to score 10 goals when I come on as sub or have five assists? "I know it was only the first game of the season but I'm disappointed that I didn't play because I know I can score goals at this level. "If I don't get the games or get to play here, I may have to move somewhere where I will be able to play regularly."" Hmm, strange- didn't Ellington supposedly reject a move to us a couple of weeks ago?!! If they get Miller as another option up front he will be even less likely to play. He will be a good signing. From what I can tell from West Brom message boards most of them think he should be their second choice striker starting with Phillips.
We offered twice, he rejected both times. First impressions count. Second impressions count more. He can **** off and rot on the bench.
Have you been reading this thread from his own fans ? http://boards.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=933&p=16&style=2&forumId=4363&action=1&replytoid=2117151906
His record says otherwise and some of the goals hes scored are stuff hendo couldnt dream of.I do agree though that if hes being a cant about signing then maybe we look elsewhere.
No. He rejected us. I wouldnt have him here, im content with King, Hendo, Priskin, Hoskins, and yes, Kabba.
I worry about what would happen if King got injured again..... i still think we're a striker short, and i'd like to see someone like Ellington join.
We are not a striker short. Sure, we'd miss Marlon, but the only way to avoid that is to have someone else of that class, and they would be expecting to play in the first team. We have adequate striker coverage. We could use a backup winger since I'm not convinced that Macnamee and Hoskins are consistent enough in that position. We could also use a battling midfielder, but Bang-Bang has shown that he can fill that spot if needed.
I could not agree more, we do indeed have adequate striker coverage; BUT, WE DO NOT HAVE TWO QUALITY FIRST TEAM STRIKERS!!!! We have adequate strikers by the hat full and some of them have the potential to develop into quality players, though IMHO none of them are ready yet!!! So we need another quality striker to partner Marlon!!! Probably a season long loan deal, then by next season, one of our "adequate" strikers may have developed enough to step in as Marlons main strike partner.
Spot on. Still, I don't think Ellington will be the answer to this problem. He is a pr!ck. Let him wallow in self pity at West Brom.
He may be a pr1ck but he is a proven goalscorer in this division and I would love to see him up front with Marlon.
