What is it?? They have come up and stormed up the league... Today they went to Man City and beat them 2-0, they have beaten many of "bottom 16" teams, both at home and away. They havnt beaten us in the league this year or last- so how have they done it and we havn't??
They have a bigger supporter base, have a rich chairman, have been investing for years and have had a consistent team selection for about 3yrs. It all counts. There's nothing to stop us building up the same way of course.
Readings team on the whole have been together a few seasons and are working well as a unit. A gradual improvement of the squad. We will be there but it'sll take 2 or 3 years of settling down.
They've spent quite a bit of money of a lengthy amount of time and they had a far far far better squad last year than anyone else.
I think the only reason their supporter base is bigger is down to the fact they are serious about being in the Prem & hence do not p*** people off.
Just posted a message about them on 'match of day' thread! Simple answer is they play football and have two deadly strikers (lita and Doyle) that don't pass up the opportunity to score when presented to them! They have also built up their squad from Pardew's days whereas we've come up too quickly! We need to rebuild, get some technically better players in and mix our football up rather than being one dimensional and lumping it! I'm not saying we need to play like Arsenal i'm saying teams like Reading can go direct when needed and also play football when needed! We can only really go direct! It's too easy to play against!
Since when did Reading have a bigger supporter base than Watford? Readings crowds contain suprisingly few proper supporters. The majority of them had never heard of Reading FC when they played at Elm Park. I know we have a lot gloryhunters amongst our support this season, but I guarantee our support base is still three or four times bigger than theirs.
The difference between us and them, is that they have players who are not frightened to receive the ball and have the skill to use it. I hope that when Aidy has as much managerial experience as SC, he will be as tactically astute.
