Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha [pauses for breath] hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Couldn't happen to a nicer club!
Thats not funny at all - a club trying to keep their local team local, dropping out of the league because of some fantasy to have a club in Milton Keynes and they were striving and so close to getting to the conference this season. I hope we get demoted for not having international clearance when he played for us... how funny would that be, then.
The 18 point deduction is a bit harsh but they should really checked to make sure he had clearence to play, ignorance is no excuse.
And how bloody moralistic they were in telling the whole football world about it eh? Their heads are so far up their own arseholes they're coming out their mouths. To me it's less to do with making a club local and more to do with divvying up who was gonna play Chairman, who was gonna play Kit Man, who was gonna do media interviews etc etc.
I don't recall that mate, i suppose we all see things differently. I thought it was a sad state of affairs at the time and still do, Milton Keynes get a football club - and teams that have been established for many many many years in the lower leagues stay there. Don't seem right to me. This is England, not America, franchising clubs and moving them. lets see how different it will be when WFC move city
Milton Keynes Dons are an absolute disgrace to football. The Hornets refused to play them in a pre season friendly in protest at what they did to the true Wimbledon. A really dark day for football the day they relocated to Milton Keynes. I rember one of their last matches at the Vic where the supporters all wore black and released black ballons to signify the death of the club they loved. Real shame the 18 point deduction as AFC are the proper Wimbledon not the phoney lot in Milton Keynes. Makes my blood boil this type of thing as the fan is the last in the pile to be thought about. I hope the MKDons get relegated to non league football asap. Bloody Disgrace....
I thought it was because there was absolute uproar (and rightly so) that our show-piece home friendly was against farking MK Dons?
QPR & Brentford also turned them down for a pre season friendly when they were first formed. I would rather have my fingers chopped off than give money to that lot.
Yes but look at Junior last season...we were very lucky that we found out, by chance may i add, that he was not allowed to play for us, otherwise our whole season last year could have ended up completely differently!!
As far as I understand it with Junior we had all the appropriate certification from the authorities, but the passport it was based upon was fake. Football clubs have many obligations but knowing the ins and outs of passport forgery? I'm not so sure.
So what nationality is Jermaine Darlington? How can he not international clearance when he has played in England for yonks? I honestly don't understand, can someone explain please?
I can! Darlington, although English, was previously playing for Cardiff. All registration issues to do with Cardiff are dealt with the by the Football Association of Wales (FAW), not the English FA. International clearance is required for any player moving across borders - even within the British Isles as in the eyes of FIFA we are seperate nations. Therefore AFC Wimbledon forgot to get clearance from the FAW and have been punished as such.
Ok right, that explains it, so if you want to play for Walsall, Cardiff, Swansea or Newcastle you have to register as playing 'abroad' as such with a different football association. So players like Chopra are not elligible to play in England at the minute?
Assume you're being tongue in cheek with Walsall and Newcastle? Chorpa is elligible so long as he has international clearance.
UEA - so what about Chambers loan spell to Carduff - did he nead international clearance and did we need to get international clearance on his return?
I actually look out for their results as I hope they come through the leagues and eclipse the MK Dons. It's nice to see fans really strive to keep their club local. A bit like the Manchester team made up of fans annoyed at the Glazier takeover, credit to them and good luck. 18 points because it's a point for each game he appeared in or something. Seems harsh but rules are rules. He never did much for us but then that left side has always been iffy for as long as I've been going to games. I remember going to Bristol City away many years ago the first season Robbo broke into the squad and I thought he looked dreadful. He came on well
