A season long load deal has been mooted in certain quarters - yet Southend would prefer some kind of get-out clause should it be found that Ashikodi is not quite fully recovered from the broken leg he suffered when on loan at Valley Parade last season. A swap deal involving Freddy Eastwood has been suggested, but Watford are of the belief that the Roots Hall man is overpriced considering he is in the final year of his contract. They have now turned their attentions to Billy Sharp. Ashikodi, whilst highly rated by Aidy Boothroyd, is seen as 'one for the future'. Watford will have noted that Paul Hayes has signed for Scunthorpe as a possible replacement for wantaway striker Sharp who will be looking to decide his future at the end of the week. Watford and Southend are also believed to be interested in making an offer for Hungarian International midfielder Denes Rosa, who has been transfer listed by Wolverhampton Wanderers."
