Can't knock the bloke, not the most glamorous signing, was never going to be here long-term, but he always gave his all wherever, and came up with that very notable contribution to the promotion campaign. Best of luck Gozzers, you're always welcome back here in another capacity
Seems like it has to be either this, or an opportunity on the non-playing side like others have said.
Fully understandable decision, as long as he still has the access to the physiotherapy that his entitled to and his contract is correctly settled. Never used enough and never let us down when he played.
Yes, 11 players like him wouldn’t be the most skilful or pretty, but we would see a lot more effort than has been on show recently!
As much as he was a useful player for us until he got injured, it's surely too much of a risk to re-sign him as a player, but could he be the 'legendary' player who comes back as a coach? Might not be the worst idea in the world
If he's got any legs left after the Achilles then I'm alright with it. I've given the guy a lambasting several times, but in truth he was one of the few to come out of last season with any credit.
I'm ok with this as long as we decide against Livermore. Having both in the squad would be very uninspiring.
Interestingly, it looks in the picture as though he’s training alongside somebody with no legs. Makes sense, given his own injury status.
The issue of where he plays and whether that’s with us or elsewhere is one thing, but on a more general level it’s great to see him back training again after the horrific injury he suffered at Ashton Gate. Football is his living and it must have been awful to have spent the last few months unsure of whether he’d be able to play the game he loves again. I will leave the debate about if he’s still good enough to play for us for others to discuss, but I just wanted to say I’m pleased he’s recovered from what could have been a career-ending injury.
For me , DG showed his worth against the Kennel crew and in particular when their big lump tried to bully him and soon found out that he was picking a fight with the wrong guy .
Agreed with the above. I don't mind Gosling, he did fine for us before his injury. Nothing spectacular but steady and he gave his all! Also agree that if he's to re-sign it should be instead of Livermore and not in addition to.
I will be sad to see him go, may not have been the most skilful player on our books but for me he always put in the effort and seemed a likeable sort of chap.
I’m pretty gutted Manaj wasn’t the high quality forward mentioned. The fallout would have been amazing on both sides on twitter!
He is/was a regular member of the DNYSE podcast after games. Even when we won (which I know was rare), he would moan and berate everyone else who had a valid comment. He lives in Florida so watching the games on Hive Live was a nightmare last season for us all. He can be negative, and point out flaws as he is entitled to his view as much as the next person, but he is like Nath super charged. Most of what he speaks is waffle and hot air and a lot of people ignore it now. Part of me thinks he does it out of boredom, he has amassed a fair cult following on Twitter and that was probably his goal.
Nath is at least reasonable in how he presents his points and does acknowledge when the club does good. Ron is a doom merchant.
Oh don't get me wrong, Nath is a very astute poster who may seem negative but he backs up his arguments very well and hardly ever makes a point which is not valid. Ron is like Victor Meldrew on turbo mode with the switch stuck on negative. Hardly ever has anything nice to say about the club, and I think he lost a lot of respect amongst the fanbase when he slagged off the Helen Ward memorial painting. Showed the level he is/was willing to go.
AL just posted that Gosling won’t be negotiating a new contract at the club and will leave when his contract expires on 31st July. Looks like they did offer him a deal, but he can get better elsewhere. Adam Leventhal @AdamLeventhal· 23m News: Dan Gosling actively looking for new club & set to leave #WatfordFC. Agreed mutual termination in March due to injury, but talks over new deal followed recovery. No agreement reached & informed club of decision last week.
I don't know what's scarier, the fact that we wanted to keep him or the fact that he felt he could do better elsewhere.
