    Me too

Dropped out of Bitcoin last week when it had a dip (regret it now but doubled my money) but reinvested the proceeds in Ethereum which is up net 60% on my total investment.

I've flogged some profits from other funds and will go back into Bitcoin on the next drop. I'm capping my risk at 5% of my pension pot. 1% of that is government risk. Won't make too much difference if the whole thing goes pop but it could well allow me to retire earlier than planned if things continue.

I missed the boat on this. I think ETH will follow with a run of its own over the next few days/weeks.

I don’t really want to put too much in the trackers. It’s just a bit of fun on the side really. I much prefer having something tangible.

I meant that I'd missed the Litecoin pump. I have easy access to buy Litecoin if I want it, but I learned early to avoid buying coins out of FOMO (fear of missing out). If a coin has pumped another will come soon behind it.

I saw it coming but didn't move fast enough to transfer out of my existing coins into Ltc before the pump happened.

I'd been in a slump of late, as I was locked into Lisk, NEO and XVG whilst BTC was monstoring through. Today however, NEO took a big surge forwards and I sold out, selling everything else and making a few day trades with 3% swings to increases my BTC pile. It's been great fun.

I'm on gardening leave until Jan so I'm just gonna aim for 3% per trade and grow my pile. ETH has rocketed now too and I bet Reids is well in the ££££.

When I first got into this I was all about the individual coins, which is only worthwhile if you are gonna buy a spread and hold them for 2-4 years. Some of these coins will go up 100X in value, but I don't have the patience. I prefer making little trades, taking small profits out and then going again.

Broke the 20k mark for my portfolio the other day, not bad for a maximum of £700 invested in a year and a half. GF nagging me to cash it all out. Not a chance.

Bitcoin tracker does look like it's slowing down. There seems to be a trend of people dumping at the end of the day / end of the week. This can happen with traders clearing their positions which suggests price is less dictated by long term investment and people in the know about the technology and more about normal trading patterns. I think it's early but we could be seeing the end of the intial boost and volatility moving over to a more traditional trading pattern.

It depends on your personal situation, but with the gains you've seen Reids, I'd be looking at dumping half of it maybe shifting over to another currency. If the rest goes pop you're made a fair wack and if it carries on you've not lost out too much.

Tracker down 10% on the week now. Coming down to where I sold it at. Whereas Ethereum is up.
If bitcoin tracker drops down to about €650 I might buy a couple of units but will be limiting my exposure going forward.

What do we think ethereum is going to go to? Very happy with the tracker so far.

I've read in various places that if there's a downturn in this market, you cant get your money out quickly even if you try. So worth bearing in mind.

Not sure if its because the technology can't cope with all the multiple sell orders coming in or by conscious design, but do consider crystallising at least some of your gains as Meister says (just an opinion but I say this as someone who has been trading for years on FX markets).

I'm not all in on either BTC or Eth anymore, I've diversified a bit, although do think Eth will show a bigger % increase than BTC for the near future so may swap all my BTC into eth. My portfolio shown below (in terms of £)

Depends, i've sold Eth for £ when I needed the money before and had no problems. I've often tried selling BTC and Eth during a sudden downward spike (to buy back in lower) and it can be hard to get your order in, but you just change the price to a bit lower (if its falling anyway it'll likely trigger) and that always gets it sold so shouldnt have any problems.

It's all speculation. Some people think it will tail off because it will be replaced by other DAPP platforms which improve on the existing tech, plus it could suffer from scaleability problems, as was the case recently when the network was frozen because of some cat game.

Others think it's due to absolutely stomp on. I read a technical analysis article the other day, based purely on the charts and what have you, which suggested that it could be thousands of pounds per ETH by 2020.

What app did you use to create that pie chart?

In terms of liquidity, it's not an issue for the likes of ETH. The trading volume of ETH on Bittrex right now is 11,000 Bitcoins. If you put up a sell order at the bid price, it will get filled.

On some of the smaller coins which have 2 digit volume or lower, you're more likely to be bag holding if the market moves downwards quickly. I do trade in some of those coins, but I only day trade, so I exit my position, even if it means taking a small loss or a lower gain than I was hoping for, before I retire for the day.

Wondering if the slide will continue.

Part of me wants to go back into bitcoin today, part of me wants to flog ethereum whilst I'm still up.

I'm gonna try and catch the top of this BTC wave and switch back into mostly ethereum. It's a bit of a gamble but I think the BTC price will remain around the 16-17k mark for a while. 20k is a big push... Kinda gutted Eth surged from £250 to £500, if it were still around the £250 mark I would've made bankkkkkkkkk (then it can surge to £500 :p)

Gonna stick 1 eth in this in a few hours time: https://www.envion.org/en/ico/

Yep it is gambling. That's why I'm only risking a small proportion. Whilst I'll be miffed if it goes pop and is worth nothing it's not the end of the day.

It's crimbo. The office is now quiet. This morning I produced the attached to track Celebrations consumption over the week.

Net negative as I'm logging in every 5 mins to check the price I'm burning it off with finger exercises.

ethereum tracker up a decent amount today. a 120 quid profit, so far wondering whether to divest.

Not so sure. I think it's got a few months in it as it's earlier in the game than Bitcoin. I think a lot of people got spooked by the peak and took profits this morning . Looking at the history that seems to be the market. My Average in is at €29 so running at over €70 at the moment I'm sticking with it for a bit. But don't take my advice, use your personal circumstances to decide.

I dropped a small amount for long term in Bitcoin at it's trough just before lunch, having regretted coming out a week or so ago at €630. It's been pretty stable this afternoon so far.

Both exposures are small and being treated as a gamble.

I have no problem holding onto it for a little bit longer. its only 200 quid I have invested in that tracker for a bit of interest really, but a 120 quid profit so far is not bad going. I own four tracker units, so maybe what I will do, is hold on until they have doubled in value and then sell half of the units and run it on pure profit alone.

    That's a good philosophy.

I've decided to dump when I can think of something else to invest in but my portfolio is pretty diverse with mixed risk and nothing is tempting at the moment. I'm considering a bit of share dabbling.

Have you ever heard of Sirius Minerals? Long term investment for sure, but I have been steadily increasing my position as its price has fallen in recent times. Currently exceedingly undervalued, purely on the basis that it wont be producing any minerals for 5 years. It is however backed by the government, so seems a safe long term position.

Decent shout. Entering a market which has only one other competitor many many times larger than itself. I would suggest they'll get bought up. or go bust.
A small punt might be worthwhile but I see we had a surge of interest in March and it's sort of tailed off.
Will add to the watch list

Yer that's the general gist. It is a bit of a risk. I'm not going to buy any further into it for the next few months, but I think its worth monitoring for the future. There are a few I have missed the boat on and some that I made mistakes with. A few years ago the video game publisher Ubisoft lost 66% of its share value. I bought £1000 worth at 9 euros a share, knowing that in the next quarter they were releasing three trible AAA titles. Sold them at 15 euros a share. Now they are worth over 60 euros.

Have the forum hierarchy ever considered a sort of investment club type thing amongst interested parties here? £20 a month, a sub forum that is open but only they can post in, and a meet up now and again? Just from reading this thread I'd say the knowledge and interest would be there.

Not a bad shout. There are tax implications though. I'll do a bit of research to see how it could work. I know what provider to use. Might be worth setting up a virtual portfolio for a couple of months first to iron out the logistics.
