I think he needs 2/3 points from next 3 league games or he is gone in international break.

    From the press conference:

Journo: "Are you getting more tempted to start with two strikers?"

Siva: "You can start, we can start, of course we can start... of course is one moment the game we are back in score... is not the game today we didn't start well because we, we know is really tough to play here and we start well the match, the match start really well for both teams. Big respect between both teams I think, our team and Leicester as well, they respect our team really well really balance(?) in all the moments in the match, in one moment, in one transition when they won two times the second ball with the quality of Vardy in that moment they won the penalty and after when we react, I agree with you we react well with the two strikers in that moment, Pereyra behind the striker didn't give for us what we want in that moment and we change. Of course is one possibility we have to play in the next games like we play one player behind the strikers or we play two strikers."

He's like the Portuguese Donald Trump, just a stream of nonsense and repetition.

Well Silva which is it? Two up front or Pereyra behind the single striker?

His dithering around with the formation game in game out is more ridiculous than the "Tinker Man".

First time I've said this this season but I'd like Silva to go now. His team selection dropping Gray all the time when he is scoring for someone who hasn't scored an outfield league goal annoys me no end.
It's not just that it's the run we are on. As someone else said I don't know where the next win is going to come from so get someone else in and organise and give the club a much needed lift.

Sacking Sean Dyche was not a mistake, Sean Dyche is not the best manager out of everyone we've had under The Pozzo's. Give it a ******* rest man Jesus.

I wouldn't swap Zola's first season here for ANYTHING.

 Christ, that is extremely depressing, laid out in stark relief 'on paper' like that. I have no doubt about his ability to speak English, so I'm not sure why he chooses to talk like this. His quotes have always had an air of 'I'm not really saying anything', but plenty of managers indulge in that to some degree. That stream-of-c0nsciousness rambling is embarrassing.

I’m sure that the Pozzos are working to find someone to replace Silva and as soon as they find someone he will be gone. I think his management of Okaka & Gray has been the worst from a manage during my time supporting watford.

Sunday Times (subscription only so unable to paste) saying that ‘Silva on brink’. Current form, no relationship with Duxbury, club think he is leaving at end of season anyway, Silva disagreed with new contracts for Holebas and Capoue, club have blocked Slimani move, name Carrillo as player that wanted to go to Everton with him.....

I think I pointed this out in the summer when most of this forum was raving about having an English speaking manager again. He doesn't actually speak the language to a high level so what you get is nonsense. Totally undermines him and might do his reputation better if we found him a Portuguese translator. QSF was very similar, although he just reverted to 'amazing' if he wasn't sure what to say next.

The injury situation is not helping Silva, so he cannot be held entirely to blame for our current form. Having said that, I believe his poor show of commitment to the club, and ergo his players, when Everton came in for him has had a lot to do with our demise!

Therefore, on balance he might not survive a defeat at Stoke, as there are no less than 7 teams that could either overtake us or at least draw level on points with us should we lose that game, and they all win.

I have not checked if any of these teams are actually playing each other, so obviously if any of them are these 7 teams could be reduced. However, assuming a 1-0 defeat for us at Stoke, and 1-0 wins for all of them, this is what the table could look like: -

    West Ham -11 29pts
    Muff -10 28pts
    Palace -14 28pts
    Hudderf'ld -23 27pts
    Newcastle -11 26pts
    15th Watford -12 26pts
    Brighton -15 26pts
    Stoke -24 26pts

I know some of these teams are probably playing each other, so the above is virtually impossible, but most of these teams were way behind us on points before Christmas, some of them by 10 or more points, so if even only one or two were to overhaul us, it will not be good enough. Furthermore if other teams below us were also to win, we could be as close as 3pts to the drop zone with defeat at Stoke. Therefore should we lose to Stoke, many would argue that Silva should not survive, but would that happen?

Who knows as this is Watford

Of course injuries are a factor, but we have the worst record of any team over the last 10 games. As posted earlier Huddersfield are on a dismal run, yet we are their only win in that period, and despite scoring in just ONE of those other games they put FOUR past us! Likewise Brighton beat us, as did Swansea when bottom. Until yesterday we were the last team not to score against Stoke. So Injuries, yes they are bad, but is our depleted squad significantly worse than Brighton, Huddersfield or Swansea? Because our form and results strongly suggest it is. I however don’t believe it is, therefore there can only be one conclusion, it’s the manager. A decent manager would’ve been able to get something out of games against Huddersfield, Brighton, Swansea and Stoke. It’s one thing to lose away to Leicester, but there are simply no excuses for those other results.

If I were a believer in conspiracy theories I might suspect that Silva has already done a deal to take over at Everton in the summer. He was a good manager until they came calling and despite injuries he still has a pretty decent squad - at least by our historic standards. His failure to organise any defence or to get goals out of Osaka, Deeney and Gray suggest he cannot be bothered. If he "manages" a mutual parting and Everton were aware of it then they may still want him. Stranger things have happened.

It never rains but it pours: Watford have been in terrible form since DecemberLAURENCE GRIFFITHS

Watford are on the verge of dismissing Marco Silva as head coach – less than two months after the Premier League club rejected an offer of £15m from Everton to release the Portuguese from his contract. Watford’s form has nosedived since that approach, leaving their Italian owners concerned about relegation to the Championship.

After an impressive start to his Watford tenure in which Silva lost only to Manchester City in the opening eight Premier League fixtures, yesterday’s 2-0 loss at Leicester City left him on a run of 11 defeats in 16 games. Five points above the relegation zone, Watford face important away trips to Southampton and Stoke City in the next 10 days.

Regarded as one of the most talented young managers in European football, the 40-year-old pushed both the Pozzo family and his personal representatives to secure a mid-season switch offered by Everton’s well-financed and ambitious new owners. Watford were upset by the aggressiveness with which an individual they appointed in May pursued Everton’s offer, believing that it has unsettled their squad.

Silva has also come into conflict with Watford’s hierarchy over player recruitment and contracts. The Portuguese wanted to sign his former Sporting centre-forward Islam Slimani from Leicester City only for the Pozzos to categorically block the move. He is also understood to have opposed the club’s decision to award new deals to Jose Holebas and Etienne Capoue, while moving Nordin Amrabat out to Leganes in Spain.

According to a source close to Silva, the manager’s relationship with Watford chief executive Scott Duxbury has deteriorated to the point where the pair rarely converse with each other. Silva pointedly avoided mentioning Duxbury by name when discussing his relationship with the club’s hierarchy last week. “What Gino [Pozzo] and the board asked me when I came in is to improve the club. I am not here to agree with everything.”

The two-year contract Silva signed upon leaving Hull City in May includes a low-cost break clause at the end of this season. The Portuguese is relatively poorly paid for a Premier League manager, having rejected superior terms on offer at FC Porto in the summer because he saw his long-term future in England.

Watford believe Silva intends to leave the club before the start of next season even if they elect to retain his services for the rest of this campaign, another factor affecting their thinking on replacing him now. They are also aware that some of Silva’s favoured players – including on-loan forward Andre Carrillo – hoped to switch employers with him. Should Silva fail to find another position in the Premier League, Benfica are interested in hiring him.
