Good Luck Clarke Carlisle. Didnt he do a interview saying him and Matt Jackson formed a good partnership and he was looking forward to playing with him this season? Shittu and DeMerit do a good job at the back so its a good deal.
My worry is that both DeMerit and Shittu are 'reported' to want Premiership football.....and come January IF we are not near the top like King they could ask to move?

I can't believe what i've just read to be honest. It's brilliant news he's gone, he's about as good a defender as my Nan. Burnley will soon be wanting to get rid of him. How can anyone rate Carlisle over Shittu? Does Shittu's performance on Saturday go unnoticed by some of the tools on here?? :dismay:
Shittu and JD did do well at Wolves and are decent players IMHO but what if they get injured/banned. Would not fancy the slow carthorse of Jackson (we looked better at the back when he went off on Tuesday) and Doyley for a number of games in central defence?
Doyley would be perfectly good at centre-back alongside Danny (he wouldn't work with Jay as they'd be too small) and Jackson could work with Jay where Jay's pace could help cover for him. Also, don't forget that we have Avinel as well, who is supposedly looking an excellent prospect.

B4 his injury you could always rely on Clarke Carlisle to make at least one telling mistake per match >>> however his commitment was 100% and he was dangerous in the opposition half. When he came back towards the end of last season I seriously thought that he would challenge the big man for a permenant start and his performances seemed to confirm my thoughts. Maybe Ady believes that Clarke has peaked as a player and as he is in his last year then 200k is not a bad piece of business. Clarke is a good guy but as a footballer I'm not bothered about losing him. To me this just shows that Aidy is 100% certain about keeping DeMerit and Shittu and that's all I'm bothered about.
I dont wanna ruin the goodbye party for some of you,and Carlile is genuinely a nice guy but he had to leave the Herts area as their were a few hanger on"s around him,and being out in St.Albans doing things he should not of been doing was his downfall.
During the first half of our promotion season he was brilliant. Sad he's gone, he imo was 3rd choice, Jackson is nothing compared to Clarke. Since hearing the radio pod cast on 5live re: addictions i had even more respect for him. Yeah we got more money for him than we paid, yeah he was in his last year of his contract, Yeah Doyley or Mariappa can cover as well but will they score a winner with a bullet header? I doubt it. Also does Aidy not realise Danny and Jay will be abroad on international duty this year?! Stupid decision imo which only makes sense if we do sign a new defender (which we still need to challange Stewart imo).
Agreed. Quite possibly, he's just been called up to the squad for the friendly vs Serbia. Although both Doyely and Mariappa (who is primarily a center back) are quite capable of playing in the middle.
I'm just worried we have to play Jackson. At least Mackay who was slow had ways of bullying a striker. I cant see what is that great about Jackson to be honest. Usually I'm not one to quickly judge and it was only 20 or so minutes, but he didnt look decent thats for sure.
