Not sure what our regular gate/tv/merchandise revenue is these days but presumably that reduction will represent well over 50% of this year's income excl player sales ?

From memory from our accounts back then, I think our peak match day revenue was £9m in our PL heyday, so it will now be somewhere south of that now. Only saving grace I think is that the championship tv/prize money will be nearer £8m next season, but that’s still probably only about £15-£20m total revenue at a push, so yeah this years final bit of parachute money is comfortably over 50% of our total revenue. Whichever way you slice it it’s a huge shortfall to cover, alongside paying down more debt as well.

Birmingham owners with plan for new ground-(as part of a large "sports quarter" ) overall cost £2bn + and a 5 year timescale.

Of course they may not be in this league next season. Makes their cost of managerial changes this season seem like small beer.

Surely some mistake. Bassini is the only other option to Pozzo so I’ll be so very careful what I wish for.

They've certainly been Pozzo like with their managers - 6 this season!

Only just finished the redevelopment of St Andrews to.

    Preston scored 3 goals - somehow !

    ;)

Bad news for Huddersfield with everyone around them potentially picking up points.

That fat pie they had rolling around up front aimlessly on Saturday scored a hattrick. Huddersfield must be bad.

Just look at Everton - the building of a new stadium is a clear guarantee of continued financial stability and on-field success.

Decent result for QPR and Plymouth and neither gained on each other, and although they didn't win I think Sheff Wed will be very pleased coming back from 0-2 down at home to get a vital point against playoff chasing Norwich. How Leeds didn't win I have no idea. two massive points dropped, but Millwall beating Leicester was quite a shock result. Leeds must be kicking themselves.

Preston have Norwich at home to come, incredibly, they'll overtake them if they win all their games. Fantastic day for Ipswich, wouldn't it be a shame if someone were to ruin it for them...

    Still didn’t score .

Might have had a penalty but never mind .

    No VAR .

West Brom just got a penalty for the ball hitting a players head outside the box !

Think Chris Powell v Everton but worse .

Was his head in an unnatural position. I can only presume that was the interpretation of the cockamamie rules the referee's now abide by so adeptly.

Jesus wept. And after seeing that decision he wept so much Noah needed to build another ark. ******* hell that's bad.

Handball or not (definitely not), how far was that outside of the penalty area?!?! The mind boggles as to what he thought he saw. Take his badges, cards, whistle, underwear, stopwatch and funny little mic they use to take taxi calls on and banish him to the EPL

    Just a stupendously bad decision.

Huge chance for Brum to get out of the drop zone today, but they ****ed it against Cardiff. They still have Rotherham and Huddersfield to come, but a) they still have to go and win those games, and b) with the possible exception of Blackburn (who do have 3 promotion chasers to play, but have a 3 point gap at the moment and also have Wednesday at home to come) a Murderers' Row of opponents

Very unlikely, would need the top 3 to continue to drop points and for them to pick up their form, but we could have done Southampton a favour as well, 10 points adrift, but with 2 games in hand

Until we draw with them on Saturday!

Doesn’t look good for Blackburn with Leeds , Cov and Leicester to play .

    Plus Sheffield Wednesday.

On paper, that Sheffield Wednesday game looks must-win for Blackburn, even if they have a 3 point cushion and a relatively good GD, and even if the promotion hopefuls are spluttering a bit of late

Demotion is a stupid and effectively meaningless punishment for a referee anyway, but in this case it isn't even in the universe of aptness - he needs to be fired for this, and possibly also publicly pilloried. It's a word used so much these days but that is genuinely embarrassing, and I dare say genuinely unprofessional to boot (alongside genuinely incompetent).

WBA receive the penalty Bayern Munich should have been given the night before.

The ref in the Swansea vs Stoke game also had a shocker and cost Stoke any chance of getting something.

Swansea were 1-0 ahead, but then the Swansea goalkeeper bounced the ball off the back of the head of an unwitting Stoke player who then scored - for the ref to disallow the goal claiming the keeper had been fouled.

He then gave Swansea a penalty for a tackle which was clearly outside the box to send Swansea 2-0 up.
