I would love the hapless terds in charge to explain what precisely they saw in him to compel them to make him our record signing. I can't think of one single thing, apart from ace tats.
At least they outdid themselves by buying Sarr and putting a young kid's career straight onto the **** heap for £40m.
Christ I'd forgotten that useless pile of dog eggs existed for a minute. Thanks for wrecking my night.
I can't really see how he can be described as a 'striker'. This implies a natural ability to put the ball in the back of the net far more regularly than say a defender or goalkeeper could. Maybe he needs a good bump on the head to recalibrate him, like a dodgy TV. I'm sure there'd be plenty of volunteers for the job.
Yes but as discussed many times his goals per minute stats are not that bad. He can barely kick a football but finds the net way better than any other striker on our books. The Gray Paradox.
It's genuinely not funny any more. Get rid of him. The fact he's even an option is disgraceful at this point. Just utterly, utterly useless.
Hopefully a championship club will pay a few quid for him in the window and we can put the money towards someone decent
Shockingly bad footballer who has gone backwards since he arrived. Sincerely hope he never plays for us again.
An awful game from Gray. Completely innefective against third rate defenders. I was surprised he wasn't subbed off.
He was awful today, summed up in two moments that really highlighted his ability being well below the level required. First half: Masina does well inside our box to bring the ball down, burst into space and beat a man. He plays it into Gray, while Quina and Dele-Bashiru race into space on the left side. Gray controls the ball, and then shanks his 10 yard pass between the two runners and out of play. Second half: Success brings the ball down and feeds Joao Pedro, who slips a nicely weighted pass into space behind the Tranmere back line. 38 year old Peter Clarke comfortably beats Gray for pace and shepherds the ball for his keeper to clear downfield. We have to have better options up front. He’s just not good enough. I can’t fault his effort, and at times he’s been able to get us goals when we need them, but our overall play suffers horribly when he’s on the field.
Where to start. He was completely out of his depth. Their CB had him in his pocket. Showed no pace, strength, control or ability to pass the ball to a team mate. Out third came from his shot ability to turn and get a shot off. Zero and I mean zero effect on the game. Gives no outlet whatsoever. I was annoyed with Success for going down to easily, but atleast he showed some appetite and ability in flashes. As someone else said earlier its beyond a joke now.
Was that late on in the game, where if he'd got the ball, he would've had a chance to make it 4-3? That incident was a hallmark of someone playing with simply no confidence, as has been the case for quite a while.
With the so called world class scouting network you do wonder who responsible for bringing Gray to Watford. Got to feel today was a good change to stake a claim for a more regular spot in the side... Sadly he didn't.
He's been largely sh*t since his very first game. He just does not have the technical ability to play at Premier League level. His first touch is so very poor as is his weighted pass. If you can do neither of those things on a regular basis you'd better be scoring loads of goals to compensate. His scoring rate, goals per minutes isn't too bad, but he's not a Premier League striker and never will be. Decent Championship option, but that's about it. For the money spent to get him and contract we gave him, it's pretty scandalous. He's the worst signing we've ever made, IMHO.
Both were much better than Gray. Pound for pound I can't think of anyone worse. Nathan Ellington is the only contender.
My biggest hope today was he’d put on a good show and convince Tranmere to make a cheeky bid. Even they’d be stupid to want him on that showing.
He has always has been a pantomime hate figure on here, even when he was doing well last season. It's his 1st game with real minutes in a while & deserves to be cut a little slack. If he scores some vital goals in the next few months, he's alright with me.
