A very frank and honest article, just what you'd expect from Simpson. Aidy has my 100% support and if the new era takes a little while to bed in then we will have to be patient. I particularly enjoyed reading that Aidy believes that he may not have been ruthless enough .... something a few of us have suspected for a while.
Great news. I'll be the first to be singing his name next season, loud and proud. Hope all you guys who are too quick to doubt him see sense soon. It would be a ridiculous knee-jerk reaction to get rid of him. Why has this been moved to Rumours and transfers?
I know you and others are tired of my campaign to get rid of Aidy, so I thought I'd change the record. I'm joking of course. I think it's a ridiculous situation for him to stay, but I can't change things. I'm taking the summer off.
Anyone with any sense would keep him and it should not have even been considered that sacking him was an option. My biggest fear was that he would walk away from the job because of the stick he has been getting from some of our so called fans. He would have no problem getting a job but we would struggle big time to replace him as we did both time GT left us. His achievements, so far, in his short term of being Watford manager is second only to the great GT which will never be surpassed because of the riches the top clubs have.
Lets face it, Aidy had not exactly done well since Southampton away, and IMHO has only just done enough with the playoff performances to keep his job!!! I think it is the right decision to keep him, for now!!! However, having said that I still think he needs a replacement for Birkinshaw, and despite what Simpson is saying right now, I think Aidy will be gone by Christmas if we start next season in a similar fashion to the way we ended this one, by that I mean with a similar streak of not winning!!!
