I have found my interest in the NFL is becoming less and less, would much rather watch a College game now.
I go through cycles...I am interested in NFL, then after a couple years can't be bothered and get into NCAA, then ignore them both, then get back into it. This is my third lifetime go round with NFL... It is a ridiculous game, I freely admit. At least it's not baseball!
As soon as the Texans are crap again, I can't imagine I'll pay any attention to NFL. Although I have enjoyed the added dimension that fantasy had offered. I love college football and even though I'm not a huge fan of the BCS set-up, I can happily sit and watch it all Saturday. Despite not really having a solid allegiance to any team yet, I find myself getting caught up in the hype more and more. I expect as time goes on I'll end up following A&M with a bit more passion - mostly because my wife went there and as such, everybody we know went there also. Plus I think I'll be headed there for grad school so I guess that'll be me nailed onto a team. NFL is just a bit too samey and the games take forever with the tv breaks. As you say though, at least it's not baseball.
I'm glad I picked the Titans to beat the Bills. After week 7 ;D 1 EvasiveWFC 63 2 Fitz 61 2 6190ken 61 4 Miles and Miles and Miles 60 5 Lukegolden 58 6 HornetCP 57 7 Y&P 52
:dismay: Horrible weekend for football, Penn state and the eagles go down. At least my fantasy teams won
Slow and steady... In my other league, the front runner got drunk and forgot his picks until late Sunday afternoon. Yes!!! That dude was 99.9th percentile until then...just murdering the rest of us. Now he is tied with me. Muah ha ha!
Scores after week 8 1 Evasive, 73 2 Fitz, 71 3 6190ken, 70 3 Miles and Miles and Miles, 70 5 lukegolden, 69 6 HornetCP, 67 7 Y&P, 53
By the way, if you can, check out the key highlight of the Ravens OT win vs the Chargers.. I will see if I can can post it here off of youtube. Amazing critical defensive failure that allowed the Ravens to score and take the game to OT, where they would go on to win it. Got it: Scene is less than 2 minutes left, Chargers up by 3, Ravens have the ball and are pushed back to 4th and 29 with the Chargers looking for the long ball... [Yt]EZUcikkDPKI[/Yt]
Yeah...looking good. You are right on my heels...can't slow down! But what's funny is I watch maybe 30 minutes of football total each week. I just go off of who is hot, who is at home, who may be injured, etc.
If we put $50 on every game since the start of the season, with a 90+% win rate, we'd have to have made some good money by now, right? How would that pan out, given odds and what not?
Well you'd think we'd have made some $$$, but I guess considering we both tend to pick favorites and go on hot form, the odds on our picks would likely be relatively short. If PYA reads this thread ever, he'll probably be able to give us a better idea of where we'd be.
If only I hadn't missed that week, I'd be right in contention. Now got to settle for somewhere near the bottom...
Super Bowl is half set: 49ers pull out a win with a fun bit of drama in the end... Next up Pats host the Ravens... K-kaw! K-kaw! Hoping the underdog Ravens meet the 9ers in the Super Bowl...
If you are interested in NFL you've probably read this already, but I'd thought I'd pop it hear in case because it's such a great read: http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/page/RogerGoodell/game-rules Obviously the part about him being terrified of a player dieing on the field has grabbed the headlines, but the whole thing is a fantastic piece of writing.
Not sure how how into College football any of you are, but I was astonished to find out a girl that left my school in year 10 has been dating Torren Mcgaster of Vanderbilt for two years, best friend of TJ Yeldon. Bizarre.
I follow college football, at least locally, but hearing those names reminded me of hearing non-league football scores read aloud on the BBC.
Wes Welker is a good signing but I don't see the Bronco's as a great threat, 49er's definitely though, they were a much better side than the Ravens this year, it just wasn't their time. For me, Andrew Luck and the colts have had a year to grow and could be strong, similar to the 05/06 colts teams with a young Manning. RG3 will struggle in comparison to last year, coming back from the injury will be hard and certainly take something out his rushing game. The Lions suck every year, but with Stafford and Johnson they have to eventually have a good year. For me, them and more so the Vikings will have strong years, Ponder is maturing and Adrian Peterson is obviously the best running back in the world. Although hopefully I'm wrong and the Packers storm to another superbowl!
I was just going to post the same thing. I keep opening this thread needlessly because of the promise of the title. Mods should close this thread unless it starts living up to it's title!
I'm not having that Fitz!!! I think the thread title is misleading; it definitely suggests we are going to see lots of Cheerleaders not just one the one lot, so come on lets see some more
Here here! Come on Fitz, 25 pieces of grumble on the first post does not make up for a thread nearing 250 posts. I would suggest at least 1 every 5 posts to break up the bulls hit and keep us Limeys interested.
