Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd felt his side were second best against Ipswich Town, despite their 1-0 win in the FA Cup.

The Premiership side reached the quarter-finals with a late strike from Damien Francis, as The Hornets struggled to break down the ten men of Ipswich after George O'Callaghan was sent off for the visitors.

"I felt we started slowly and perhaps got a bit slower," Boothroyd told Sky Sports News.

"I do think Ipswich were the better team for 85 minutes today, which is not very good when it's a 90-minute plus game.

"We took our chance, and we had other chances to perhaps wrap it up, and so did Ipswich.

"In the end, I felt it was an action-packed game, great for the neutral, and good for us because we're through.

"Credit to Ipswich, I thought on the day they were better than us, but that's how it is.

"The game is about winning and that's what we've done."

Boothroyd believes perseverance has helped his side put together a decent run of results in recent weeks.

"When not a lot happens for you, you've got to keep at getting on with it and that's what we've done," he added.

"In February, we find ourselves in the quarter-finals of the cup and with a big game coming up on Wednesday."

Seriously.. we were really that bad.

I hand on heart believe Ipswich deserved to win that game and its actually painful to admit, but we were rubbish and it was out of sheer luck and a lot of decisions going our way that we won!

They even had a lot more possession than us with only 10 men.

theres frustration at the team because someone makes a sloppy error but today, it was the whole team! everyone was pretty much shyte apart from the odd one or two who we're average at best! the result wasn't justified but hey ho, im not going to complain! lets hope we have the same kind of luck against wigan :D
