From what ive heard from people who know "sources", say that the 3rd of March will mark a very special occasion we will just have to wait and see if tomorrow brings what we all want! Im not making suggestions, im just going on what i have heard on previous websites for example that BBC man.
I can't see it happening tomorrow - he is still in the 'boro squad and has come on for their last two games. I think the likely situation is that we have made a bid for a loan with option of permanent and it probably has been in principle accepted, i.e if they want to sell they would do it on the terms we have offered. However Southgate is vacillating and won't let it happen until he is 100% sure he does not need him. Once he is we would then have to fight off the competition. It seems as if Aidy is trying his utmost though.
My contacts tell me that we are not the preferred club IF he goes out on loan. We won't guarantee him a start (and the way Muff is playing I can understand that) so he is more likely to go to the scum that is Wolves or ShWed.
Sign AJ on loan then gurantee a sale next year of £2 Million. Quality player we need at the club. Go straight in no messing and get AJ back. Sends out a signal to all the other promotion chasing clubs that the Hornets mean business.. Keep the faith...
Hope your contact is wrong! Smith seems to be lacking match fitness since his ankle injury - Muff could go on the right for a few matches with AJ on the left.
Almost certainly. However, my info is about 3-4 days old - maybe we have agreed to Boro's demands? Also Tommy is struggling with an injury and he has been playing not at 100% - he really needs a couple of weeks rest.
Hate to pi$$ on everyones parade but the Mirror today says that Boro are to reject this loan move after recent performances by AJ after coming on as sub. Not good news!
To be honest I don't think we need him so I'd be quite pleased if Boro kept him there. If he went to another promotion contender it could really hurt us - but bringing him here could hurt theDuff who's been getting better and better.
If we can get Johnson in definetly bring him here. McAnuff may be playing well. But Johnson will score goals, get more assists, better set pieces than any winger at the club.
The Mirror is only rehashing what was in last Friday's WO though - ie. that Southgate currently won't go for it but may be inclined to before the window shuts if certain things fall into place.
Fair point but I would suggest that the contribution that he has made in the last two games is going to make it difficult for us to get him now!
Chris Riggot has gone to Stoke from Boro, surely he was just as active in the Boro squad? I remember he was captain for them at times. I think we should all just wait and see. I don't think we can pay too much attention to what papers with no credibility say...
Well he won't get better by going on the bench again and I think he's got more in him than he's shown so far. Unless we get an option to buy - the only reason for bringing johnson back would be to keep him from other CCC clubs. So - I am happy with Boro keeping him.
I'm not, don't know about you Krisvad, but I would like to win the league... Getting someone who is head and shoulders above our current player is a huge plus.
I have to agree with this he has started to learn how to beat his, man, and get into a dangerous position, but that is as far as he goes. If we got Johnson in on loan I would be more that happy to see Notgoodenuff moved to the scrapheap. Johnson, scores and creates goals, and takes a decent set piece. Anyone who would rather we keep Muff, because he has started to play better than the dismally low standards he started with are forgetting how much better Johnson is, and that we can write of the 2m or so muff cost, from the 60 or so we would get from promotion.
At the moment Tommy is carrying an injury and Lionel is unproven. If Johno came in I would rest Tommy and switch Muff to the right. But Johno ain't coming anytime soon (or is he?).
Oh I want us to win the league. But we need to look at where we'll be realistic. If we go up highly dependant on loanees (well - Johnson) we'll find it even tougher. So I'm torn - as I was when we played Fossie over Lee in our promotion season. I want us to win and go up but I also want us to develop our own talent. A double edged sword really.
Missing the remaining 11 games won't hurt Jobi's development that much so for me all this talk about ruining the development of our own doesn't really count for much in this instance. It'd be madness to turn down a player of AJ's class because Jobi has been performing slightly better lately. Getting to the Premiership is the most important thing in the last 11 games and having AJ, whether on a normal loan or with a view to a permanent move, will make us better equipped for the run in.
Just found this on NewsNow Johnson blow for Hornets 20080303 16:35 Watford's bid to re-sign Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson on loan looks doomed with the Teessiders still fighting on two fronts. Boro are involved in the relegation battle at the bottom of the Premier League and also have a home FA Cup quarter-final against Cardiff to play so need their fringe players on board. Hornets chief Aidy Boothroyd took left winger Johnson on loan at the start of the season and has gone back in for him, but does not hold out much hope at the moment. "I've spoken to Gareth Southgate at length several times. Adam needs games but Gareth hasn't got the players at the moment," admitted the Vicarage Road chief. Johnson's path to the Boro first team is currently blocked by England star Stewart Downing.
