Thought it might be good to have a thread that summarises where we stand with this. I know there is another thread that talks about how many home grown players you need, but thats not where the restriction lies, so I thought it might be prudent to approach it this way.

Just to confirm the law, you dont actually have to have any home grown players at all in your squad of 25, but you can only have a maximum of 17 non home grown players . So if you didnt have any home grown players, you could only have a squad of 17 players.

So at the moment our 17 non home grown players are

    1-Gomes
    2-Arlauskis

    3-Angella
    4-Prodl

    5-Holebas
    6-Nyom
    7-Layun
    8-Parades

    9-Abdi
    10-Capoue
    11-Behrami

    12-Forestieri
    13-Vydra
    14-Ighalo

Thats 14 in total, leaving room for 3 more foreign signings. The strongest current rumours are Berghuis, Britos and Immers would take it up to 17.

If we then wanted, to sign Guidioura or Stambouli we would need to drop one of the aforementioned from the Squad. One possible solution could mean Parades going, to leave Hoban and Behrami as cover for RB and Layun to cover LB.

If someone like Perotti turned around and said he wants to come, then we may see FF be loaned out to free up space.

    You've missed Belkalem and Pudil.

Belkalem , Pudil, Battochio and Fabbrini seem unlikely to feature in the squad especially with numbers so tight. Pudil has played in pre season but I really cant see him getting ahead of Layun and Holebas and a move to Brighton is rumoured.

Not convinced Paredes, Layun, Belkalem, Fessi, Fabrinni (or Battochio - wherever he is) will be in the squad

Gueds not going to happen, there's not a singe whisper in the media, it's dead as a dead thing, it's pushing up the daisies, it's fallen off it's perch, it's an ex parrot

I have a feeling Pudil will stay - QSF I think will appreciate his work ethic

Taider, Britos, Berguis all might (Taider and Berguis are typical Pozzo investment signings)

    I think we have

    Gomes
    Arlauskis

    Angella
    Prodl
    Britas (or Belkalem)

    Pudil
    Holebas
    Nyom

    Abdi

    Capoue
    Behrami
    Taider (or Stambouli)

    Vydra
    Ighalo
    Berguis

    New front man

Personally, I think it would be more useful to include all non-HG players. That way it's easier to see where we'd expect departures to come from.

I'd agree it seems likely Pudil will be loaned out or sold, but we don't yet know for sure. He did travel with the rest of the squad so just assuming he's definitely going seems a bit premature. It's not impossible that we'll make a surprising sale.

Handy list though, shows how close to the edge we're skirting.

If I was to make one criticism of our activity this summer, it would probably be signing Arlauskis. Not because I don't think he's good enough (haven't seen much of him), but because using up two non-HG slots on keepers seems a bit unwise.

Battochio was at the U21 tournament so thats why he's been given extra rest.

I think Layun and Paredes are good enough to be in the squad as back ups.

There is still another 6 weeks left of this transfer window! Guediora could still come back.

From what I've heard he's considered to be good enough for the no.1 spot so I think it's good business. I'd be concerned if Gomes got an injury and Bond was called up for a period of more than a month or so.

Also I guess this is the wonderful thing about the Pozzos is that any spares can be shipped to Udinese or Granada if they are needed there.

Im not sure why so many people think that just because we re in the EPL that Udinese and Granada will automatically become the dumping ground for all our underperforming players.

If it is the case, dont tell their fans about it , Pozzos will have a riot on their hands

He won't be named in the squad until January, maybe not even then if we send him out on loan to get game time.

Pretty much. As Hornet23 says he's not going to be named in the squad in August which essentially means we can't pick him until January anyway. No sense holding a spot for him in the meantime given we already have such a high proportion of non-home grown players.

If Battocchio is in the U21 squad does he have to be included in the non-homegrown list?

Looks like he s off to Birmingham on loan

Good move for him. They seem to really rate him up there and he strikes me as the sort of player that needs an arm round rather than a kick up the arse

Even then I doubt he will be fully fit, wouldn't be surprised if he is out the whole season for the senior team. See him playing in the u21's when he gets back.

He's out on contract next summer, could see him moving back to Udinese in January if our defence is looking good.

Because the 2015 UEFA U21 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_UEFA_European_Under-21_Championship) had begun in 2013. It is a a biennial international football competition beginning with the qualifications tournment.
Players born on or after 1 January 1992 were eligible to participate in the competition. http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles.../Regulations/01/88/95/94/1889594_DOWNLOAD.pdf

I agree with the frist 14 posted. Although highly unlikely on all of them (though i keep my fingers crossed for a stambouli u-turn) i'd like:

    -Stambouli
    -Perotti
    -Doumbia

taking it up to 17 and adding real top quality to our squad
