Loach was actually standing right by his left post for FK.If he was in middle of goal i'm sure he would have just picked the ball up.
Brilliant win today, to get a point against that side what have been an achievment well done Malky and the lads
Nice to come away from the ground with a smile on my face for once! I thought first half we were very impressive with McGinn in the hole being allowed to push forward and Cowie looking exceptionally good. We deserved to be leading 2-0 (thanks to Weale for the second of course!) but I thought we needed to get a 3rd to make it safe and it proved to be correct as the second half we seemed to loose structure and most importantly composure. The pen was never a pen in a month of Sundays and Loach should never have allowed the second to go in as he got a big hand to it and should have pushed it away. There was a good couple of chances for them and us to win it, especially the Sordell chance until Graham popped up for the first goal I have seen this season for us in the Rookery (having missed the first game of the season), thought it would never come! Like JP, I really do not like Leicester for some reason. I think it is the fact that they seem to think they are a lot bigger and better than us and a lot of other clubs in the league (despite being a smaller team then their 2 local rivals), and thought Harry was good going up to them (until the stewards spoilt the party) having a bit of fun! Loach did actually pull off a great save as well from a corner but his form is a bit of a concern at the moment and so is Mariappa decision making at times again today, letting the ball bounce before challenging and though he set up a peach of a chance with a cross field ball in the first half, he nearly gave one away with a sloppy pass in the second. I would imagine Sordell popped his shoulder as well so he might be out for a few weeks now, that will teach him not to shoot first chance and take his chanes!
If their penalty was never a penalty then its no wonder we never get them anymore. Was sitting directly opposite in the rous and the cross struck Taylors outstretched arm,it was as blatant as they come.
i tink i no wat yu r saying - i agrea. :drinking: i would have taken a point today as well, they had a great win against florist on monday. 14k+ attendunce - were there really 4k lcfc theiy're?
We stole 3 points today against a very good and well organised side. Apart from the first 20 minutes Leicester were far far better than us. They may not have created chances but that because we put 10 men behind the ball for long periods. Doyleys distribution was woeful ( thats another fine from miester ! ) He defended well but he just can't kick a ball. Mutch was as bad as when he first came and gave the ball away time after time. Buckley is a liability when we don't have the ball, great going forward but needs to work harder. Loach needs to be dropped, he can not command his box and his starting positions on set pieces doesn't even reach basic. It was only we they got back to 2-2 that we decided to put some effort in
That was a big win. We were far from convincing and their are lots of areas that need improving, but it is still a cracking three points. Mutch was back to his early season form today, but luckily Eustace was bang on form and ran the show. Loach worries me and there is clearly a lack of trust between the back four and him, and if he gets that much of a hand on the fk then he has to keep it out. The penalty was unfortunate but in my book it was a penalty. I'm not normally a huge fan of Cowie but I thought he was superb today. I like McGinns effort and desire but I still worry he is too lightweight for this level. Golden Graham looked far more up for it today. Buckley was always going to get a decent chance to score given the very high line they play mixed with his pace, but as said above as good as he is going forward his defensive play isn't on show very often. Cracking three points, I don't expect much from next week but then Preston at home the week after must be a home win.
Leicester's penalty http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9ASeLC3J80 Leicester's free-kick equaliser. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4VR9xx5qYo What was Loach doing?
Unlucky not to save the pen. But what the hell was he doing for that free kick? Why not just stand in the middle of the goal? The ball dribbled over the line!!
I thought we played pretty well first half then did our usual lets defend which lasted 5 minutes due to a silly handball and Loach might not want to look at the free kick again (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4VR9xx5qYo) I felt we created some decent chances albeit only really got going in the 2nd half once Leicester drew level. Anyway a good win considering the tricky fixture next week!
seems to me when we concede a goal in last 5 minutes to lose or draw, we are shyte and when we score a goal in the last 5 minutes to win a agame, we are shyte... its football girls - these things happen - enjoy the three fortunate points, which make up for 3 points we lose unfortunatley or such .like equation... i an over the moon at this win - because it is 3 points against a good team who were improving in recent matches and in a lil bit of form, we were, maybe are bootom of cuurnet form before today in the last 6 games... uckin enjoy it. was it hoofball, did you have neck ache when u got home did we lose 0-3 to the team at the top having been totally ouplayed in a passing game? booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo we won booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Just remembered a little something from last season's trip to Leicester that I thought I'd share. As we were parking up before the game I noticed a woman walking down the (pretty busy) street that we were on, writing something with a big black marker pen on each of the billboards lining the street. There were about five or six in total. Getting out of the car, I got a better view and saw she had written 'VOTE BNP' on each of the boards. Eurgh. Great result today against a team that probably look better on paper than on the pitch. But neverthless... I'm actually looking forward to the Football League Show. I always like watching it when we've won because I get to either see the goals and have an at-the-TV rant at about how crap the show is, and how we got an unbelievably small amount of air-time, etc... OR I'm pleasantly surprised by the amount of attention we get (almost always the former).
Just a couple of things to add to those already said. Free kick that Loach conceded - we were saying in the Rookery that Loach was too far over towards his post leaving the area behind the wall too exposed. Guess what, he couldn't make it over to where the ball ended up. Penalty was bang on. The reason we don't get penalties is that we NEVER dribble into the box. I thought Malky did well with his team today to put McGinn in the attacking midfield spot to mark Yuki Abe and prevent him from dictating the play from his holding midfield position. It worked so well in the first half I was suprised that he swapped Buckley and McGinn in the second half so that neither were contributing effectively. Was very pleased with the winner and especially since it was scored at the Rookery End.
anyone in the vicarage road end on here who went today? just curious, what were all the leicester fans up to at the top?
DEAR MALKY Please ensure for the QPR game that the whole squad has flu or at least a very bad cold so they can dribble in the box and get a penalty or two or three. Thank you Paddy
There was a Watford fan (perhaps aged in his 30s) who was giving some banter back but it escalated a bit and he ended up having maybe 50 adolescent Leicester fans giving him grief. He was a bit quieter after that but they didn't really let up...
I love beating Leicester. They are one of these clubs with fans who think they are 'big'. Money doesn't make you big, nor does having a well known manager. Clubs like Leicester make me more than happy to support a hard working club with Uck all investment.
3-2 at 25/1 get in you beauty! we're going down the pub! Good performance in general, they're not a bad side. Nice to see us keep going after getting pegged back their keeper had a shocker though, that pass to his fullback, who'd turned away in the last minute, summed up his performance. We get at Loachy but he was much better than his counterpart.
No mate, Christina's 17th and I need to keep tabs on some oiks she's invited to stop over!!! so pub to watch the game for me. How you diddling?
thought we did well to win yesterday having been on the back foot a lil when pegged back to 2-2 - lol wfc 1.15 at HT, could have layed that with our repitation and backed agains at 6's+ when lcfc equalised. doin fine matey - we r havin a beer for Big Pete and Steve pre kick off Friday - absent wfc friends - so hold a pint up for them in your local.... happy birthday Christina -
Great Result! Great result, and congratulations to Malky for `messing around` with the formation. By the sound of it we didn`t know the strategy - so the Foxes had little chance, and I love battering teams with three strikers:biggrin: Sven said how well his team had played but seemed bemused by the loss - saying `thats football`. This was a very good result - and we are exactly where we should be in the table - so no complaints.
