My Journey to Hyde park began at 9 O'clock (way too early) as i prepared for the 02 festival , i got washed and dressed, got the beer out the fridge and walked down to kings langley station.

After being invited by my friends to go see White stripes and queens of the stone age among others, i decided grudgingly to part with a large amount of cash and come along.

The gates were to be opened at 2, but we wanted to get there early, hang out and have a look round etc. so we decided to get into London early, meaning that we would have to catch the train from Kings Langley (via watford Junction) to Euston and onto Hyde park corner. We were to catch the 10:10 train, and walking down we realised that it was already 10:06 so we decided to run, with the hope that getting there early ment more drinking time. However, we had to have someone who is really unfit with us didnt we? We were practically carrying the fat idiot as we reached the station only to see the train leaving in the distance. Bugger.

After getting on the train at kings langley and meeting up with friends at watford junction, we realised who was 2 seats away from us. It was Graham Poll ! We very briefly talked to him, and as one of my mates is a ref, they talked for a while. Then we were at euston. After getting turned down in the first shop we tried, some cider was bought in the second. Basically, cutting it down abit, we visited convent garde, drank alot of cider, and we were into the festival.

I havent been to many festivals, as i prefer the more intimate gigs, however i was up for it, and it was a great laugh. My main focus was to see as many bands as possible, and we started off by seeing 'the kissaway trail' a danish (i think) indie/alternative band, who were pretty good.

Having not parted with 5 quid (fooking ripoff!) for band times and general info booklet, we were wondering who was next up on the main stage. Then strolled on a blonde lady, with hot pants and stilettos, which made me more interested, then she started spitting and swearing before launcing into the songs. These are the sounds (danny/warehouse likes them i think) She was mental, jumping all other the stage, and it was very entertaining :]]

Next up, we decided the main stage, topped up on the drinks, and went to see 'Alberta Cross' in the XFM tent, who were suprisingly good, with their blues fused rock, similar to that of kings of leon or the raconteurs. After this we listened to 'the bees' and Perry farrels 'satellite party' (once of Janes addiction) who was a bit queer (he wore a corsit:eek:) and then there were the headliners.

QOTSA f***ing rocked! There hard hitting rock made the crowd frenzied, and this was the first time everyone was in one place. QOTSA played some of their best songs, including 'go with the flow', and new tracks such as 'sick sick sick' and '3 and 7s' and it was really good, chandeliers on the stage was a bit weird, and the back was lit well, and it was really good.

The highlight of the festival was definately the white stripes, however the 2 or 3 fit women who showed their **** every other song definately came close :]]

The white stripes are not my favourite band, but live, they simply rocked. Its hard to believe theres only 2 in the band, and there was an amazing sound. They played new material like 'Icky Thump', covers like 'Joleane', and classics like 'blue orchid' and '7 nations army' and it was really fun, with a mosh developing in one of their songs.

More cider on the way home means firstly that me and my mate got lost, found our way home and secondly, i woke up with a hangover. Good times :)

They were pretty good. She (maja?) controlled the crowd well (she spat into it though ), overall the music they play is very good, the last song they brought out this electric drum thing and 2 of the lads went mental beating on it :)

Ah yeah that's the classic way they end their shows. Maja is a bit outlandish, but everyone seems to love her - me included :D
