If Clevs stays in charge next season, I’d like for him to be given a proper team, rather than the assortment of glorified PE teachers that make up the current staff.

I think that's a little unfair. We played well against Leeds and West Brom and were only minutes away from both being wins. Apart from the first 20 mins we were very decent at Southampton and only a ridiculously late goal stopped us from getting a point. Hull and Preston weren't great but to say it's been extremely forgettable is simply not correct. With a fair wind and a ref doing his job properly we could easily have had another 4 or 5 points

I didn't actually watch Leeds live (I was away) but will take your point on that as a number of people have mentioned that was an exciting game and we actually had a go.

WBA seemed more like the same old from us for me, we got into a winning position then did our best to squander that. I maintain that I don't think a huge amount has changed really. I think one win in 5 or 6 games I believe it is now doesn't scream out for a caretaker to be given the job, even with some of the context you've provided. I also don't think we can hang our hats on referees as it's all subjective. Decisions balance themselves out across a season in the main.

I like TC, and want him to do well but it does seem like there's a bit of a soft spot generally for him because he's one of "us". If he gets the job then good luck to him, and I hope he's able to make it his own (although this is highly doubtful) but I wouldn't be surprised if we end up looking elsewhere.

I don't think he has done such an outstanding job that it would be ridiculous not to give him the role, however that was a tough run of games. one win in 5 or 6 doesn't tell the full story. Under VI we had been very concerned about those games with the risk we could be sucked into the relegation fight as we might lose the lot, we mustn't forget that.

Well least we know he might do a decent job next time he gets asked to step in come October time !

It doesn't matter who the HC is unless the glaring gaps on the pitch are sorted. We desperately lack a bit of steel, determination and leadership particularly in the middle. The sort of player who will bawl others out for bottling headers or going half arsed into tackles.

Maybe I’m more easily pleased but I haven’t found the last two home games “very dull”, despite the lack of goals.

If Watford really are short of cash then Cleverly might make sense as HC because he's already here. The recent matches, in my view, show him in a good light as the team seems more coherent and spirited and a bit more effective against what promised to be a very difficult stretch of fixtures.
However, I think the lack of wins and the poverty of the attacking have seen off a number of coaches in the recent seasons: His most difficult job is to change a strongly entrenched cowardice in our attack. I'm not sure he is winning that battle, but then no-one else has, either.
Probably a few changes and additions to the squad could change that around but, given what appears to be the financial situation, I'm not holding my breath.

There were definitely redeeming features to Saturday's game, especially in the frantic last quarter, but surely you'd agree Preston was awful all round? It wasn't even that absorbing from a tactical / technical point of view which some 0-0s can be.

I think we might have been surprised by Preston's lack of effort in trying to win the game but yes it was fairly dull

I thought for a 0-0 it was quite a decent game.

We seemed to have a load of huff and puff up front, with little or no quality, forcing one maybe two saves. We did look a lot better when Rajovic came on. One way or another he makes things happen. It all went boobaloos up when Martins came on. The bloke really is a one trick donkey, who wouldn't look out of place on Blackpool promenade.

Fair play to Bachmann, did what his good at well, shot stopping, but also fluffed two easy kicks, but we know that's his plus and minuses.

Our best two players in recent weeks have been TDB and Georgie, both missing and it showed.

The good news is Sunderland are also on the beach, giving Martins an opportunity to play and roll in the sand.

Yes Preston was dull I grant you but I’ve seen a lot worse at Vicarage Road. Enjoyed Saturday a lot more than the score line suggests.
