I also suspect that if anyone unfurled a banner regarding Gino/Duxbury at a home game, that there would be elements of the Gino-worshippers who would kick off.

I think it would be ok as long as it didn't get in the way of the 'homemade signs pleading for shirts' brigade.

The club should do the decent thing and release a statement about this - it’s not fair kids are sat at home with their crayolas making signs to get a sweaty football shirt, when Ucko and his pals are pre-selected to get them for photo opportunities.

To be honest it should be a long list of things Rob Edwards insists end and end right now. It's proper amateur stuff. I genuinely think the hierarchy see it as evidence of family values and engagement with the fans, whereas I just see it as (scripted) distraction. How about sending 17000 people home happy with a win rather than 8 kids / young adults who are happy because they got a sweaty matchworn shirt?

How can an old man who is too tired and frail to stand up at any point during a football match that he is "managing" supposed to train a squad of players 7 days a week?

He needs to be melted down and turned into glue

    Thanks Sherlock!

Think about this very carefully. Consider the players that are expected to leave now (most of our so called 'better' players). Now consider who we might be left with...Cleverley, Cathcart, Sema, Gosling maybe, Pedro, Cucho, Kamara if we're lucky? Mostly older players nearing the end of their careers, who despite their best efforts are obviously struggling now. Then finally, also consider what our recruitment has been like recently and how we might replace our 'better' players, we don't have much money to splash out on a squad revamp it would seem. We didn't do much work preparing a decent Premier League team for this season. Put these facts together and whether it be West Brom, Rotherham, Wigan or whoever is the next Yeovil, I think it's not hyperbole to at least entertain the possibility we might struggle in the Championship next season. Maybe relegation to League One is over the top, but the way things are going I wouldn't rule out that happening within 2/3 seasons, especially when parachute payments run out if we are still languishing.

I hope our bumbling Watford overlords have something up their sleeves to prove me wrong, but forgive me if I say now, I doubt that.

Saw a Leicester kid get Maddisons shirt yesterday. Genuinely nice moment that for the kid and his dad will be cherished for life. What's wrong with that?

It’s easy to do that when you’ve won 5-1 away from home.

We have grown men who do it when we have just lost our 12th home game in a row.

I almost believed them when they said they'd take a different approach to the management of the club. Until I saw the photo of Mogi ******* Bear sat with the directors. Rotten.

I love the fact that Harry the Hornet is seemingly pointing to the director's box giving them a piece of his mind. I still have a lot of respect for what Ray Lewington did for us. Cup semi finals and a mid table finish with a tiny squad on a peanuts budget. We actually played well under him and the football was exiting.

Nothing when you've won and the season's nearly up. I don't even really object to the Watford players doing it at the final home game of the season. But our lot have been doing it for months. Plus the offshoot of it is a pretty stupid trend of some particularly thick parents encouraging their kids to go on the pitch at the end of games to get a shirt... probably not far off seeing that at Watford soon.

Yep. Although I’m not sure ‘they’ said this. I think it’s just a large assumption on the fans part and we assumed Edwards was a signal of it. The likely reality is that status quo is maintained and they somehow are trying to shoe-horn Edwards into the current model.

I stayed away, cancelled my ST and emailed the club to explain why. I never heard back to that.

I had a lovely BBQ yesterday under a gazebo amidst the showers. I wasn't even following the score.

I booed up a lung and left early at about 10 home games this season. Not sure what good more protesting could do.

I didn't watch this game. I went to a watercress festival instead. That's 100% true. A world record was smashed in front of my eyes. Ten times the sporting spectacle of our repulsive shower.

Just saw a stat pop up, of the 46 goals conceded at home this season - 21 came in 7 games under Woy (not including the nil nil with Everton). We scored 6 goals in those 7 games. The guy was absolutely stealing a living.

I get what you are saying and respect that.

As a parent and with my son seeing nothing but negativity all season at the Vic any kind of positive interaction with this group of shirkers we call our squad would be a positive.

I really can't see what the problem is with kids staying until the end for this moment.

Totally agree on adults doing it. That's just wrong.

You mean 'some' Watford fans. So what if they choose to clap anyway? They are not to blame for what's served up on the pitch.

I admit hand on heart that I was one of the thousand odd Watford fans waving my big yellow and black flag at FT during the F.A Cup final. I have nothing wrong with clapping or booting - it's up to the person and a choice they can make. Yesterday was just another game that proved we want this season to end as soon as possible, and thank god we only have one more game left, even if it is against Chelsea.

But what has anybody who paid good money at the weekend to make an effort and go to the stadium got to clap about?

Are they clapping our owners who seem intent on creating a toxic atmosphere within the club whilst borrowing as much as they can to pay off their mates?

Are they clapping our agent sitting in the directors box who is getting wealthy whilst supplying totally inadequate individuals for the job?

    the outgoing manager?

the “injured” players or those playing that couldn’t be arsed to even put in a shift?

might as well go to the boozer with some mates and just spend the afternoon clapping and drinking….be more fun

I have always found it strange that the flag waving and singing at the Cup Final was criticised by some on here but then fans are criticised for not singing.

Well, it's not the same issue, is it - they're not analogous/mutually exclusive.

The criticism of the flag-waving was, of course, of flag-waving as a collective response to a literally historically/record-breakingly pathetic performance in the biggest game they've taken part in many years.

Criticism of singing game-to-game largely comes from people taking the piss out of the pretensions of the 1881 and the favoured position they enjoy relative to their actual impact. The rest of that argument is actually consistent, in that the large number of people who won't sing around the ground feeds into the idea that many Watford fans are happier to just be out of the house than trying to compete and distinguish themselves positively in a sporting sense, and that they don't appear to feel the same extremes of emotion as the majority of fans from other clubs and sporting institutions in general do.

Who cares? I find the clapping weird, more so after Burnley which was just a laughable yet predictable collapse and people stood their and applauded with a glance deeming an expression as if they were mightier than others.

But for yesterday, so what? Pollock was there, Kamara, Sema a tearful Adam Masina etc. Are people meant to boo and abuse players who are shyte and get picked?

I'm sure if Roy dared come over to The Rookery he may have got an earful, if Duxbury ever stepped on the pitch he'd defo get boo'ed but with the players it's just a bit pointless.

But they weren't waving because of a record score, they were doing it to show support for the club no matter what was happening. Fans do it all over the world

One manager per season is just so old fashioned.
Seriously it does sound great, but if we are 12th after the first 10 games we will all be baying for blood.

Yes most likely, but at the same time after 10 games the transfer window will have barely shut and the poor bloke will probably have only just found out which players he can actually use. Coming from the fourth tier of English football and being a young, relatively inexperienced coach 10 games wouldn’t be anywhere close to a reasonable amount of time to give him all things considered.

Oh I agree, but we are all impatient and we will find plenty of reasons to criticise selection, tactics, substitutions, post-match comment etc if we don't get results. Even in this multi-manager season there were plenty wanting the triggers pulled more quickly.
