Won’t be long till we here this from the expert pundits?

Well do you make of that goal?

Stupendous, I mean the boy’s got talent. He came from the West Ham academy. That’s what they’re renowned for, West Ham, producing young players of quality. This boy has a big future.

    Apparently Barcelona were interested.

Wouldn’t surprise me, a shot like that on his weaker foot. West Ham have the real deal there

    He, he plays for Watford.......

Really? No! I mean it’s West Ham who give him the chance. Keep an eye on this boy, he’s going far. One of the big boys will come knocking, he’s got West Ham’s mark of quality all over him.

Just having my breakfast, had the strangest dream last night, that Watford won a league cup game against lower division team.

    Can't be real, can it?

For anyone even jokingly saying 'Pozzo out', be careful. These from Reading forum:

If that had been Liverpool or Arsenal I would not be too worried.

But that was Watford. Reserves. And they totally, wholly and uncompromisingly outclassed us in every department. A club we would have considered to be of a similar standing as ourselves.

Meite, Moore and Ilori, whilst not perfect, can at least consider themselves to have performed well. Everyone else disappointed.

A very poor night that reflects the decline in Reading FC.

    ****

Sad right? Things weren’t always rosy under Madejski especially towards the end with our financial difficulties, but we still performed well and we actually had an identity and a bit of soul and character and unity.

Now we’re just another identipcunt mediocre run of the mill club with a soulless stadium, an underperforming incohesive staff and an ever increasing dwindling disconnected and disillusioned fan base.

We’ll be in league one sooner or later which is exactly what we deserve.

    ****

Glad I didn't go the gulf between us and Watford is massive. We have played them 116 times more than any other club. It's hard to imagine we will ever be in the same league as them again.

    ****

Well we will be relegated and I can't see us bouncing back for many years with the crap we have. They have billionaire owners who will keep them in the prem. Even if they did come down they will go straight back up. Tonight showed a huge gulf in class they made 11 changes and looked 2 divisions above us.

Have to be pleased that Success has sorted his head out and knuckled down, he has so much potential that was being wasted

Comfortable win by the look of it, great to see Chalobah back and new boys making an impact. That Quinoa goal was pure filth.

From what I saw last night he has bags of energy and can run through brick walls but is severely lacking in any footballing skills. We need much better backup to Gray and Deeney.

You know you've taken the wrong route home when the club coaches overtake you. How fast did they get away last night?
One thing I really like about Reading is that they open the exits at half time so that you can get a bit of space and the people who need their tobacco fix can have it. Sensible stadium policy, makes a nice change.

Good to know that if we were to go down and all our first team players leave, our reserves would still smash the Championship.
Quinoa's was the best debut I've seen from a young Watford player since John Barnes. Excellent. Hard to think why West Ham would choose Noble and Wilsher ahead of him.

Was discussing Reading's plight last night. Hard to see how they can arrest the downward spiral. Team is hopeless, they've got no money, they don't have a fan base that'll turn up regardless of how sh1te they are (see Sunderland, Man City etc) and they play in a pop-up stadium that's already looking tired, in the middle of a soul-vacuum business park. The outlook is bleak

Great to see the fringe players get a chance and take it. By all accounts Masina, Wilmot and Quina were superb. I'm glad Success is taking his chance this season.

It’s absolutely fantastic to see that after three full seasons in the Premier League we’ve got to the stage where we have a half decent second string. I know it was only Reading but we all know what happened in previous league cup campaigns and just how bad our reserve players were.

Yes we’re probably a bit light up front and at CB, but when I looked at that team last night despite the wholesale changes, there are at least a few players that excite and have the potential to impact football matches.

We are currently in a fantastic position as a club, if we avoid too many injuries we really could have a great season. Guaranteed there will be the inevitable bad times to come at some point, but right now it feels great to be a hornet.

Sadly it’s not quite correct about us. The Pozzos are indeed wealthy, but relative paupers in comparison to the opposition. Every season in the Prem will be hard won and rely on sound decisions.

But whatever happens, the club’s trajectory is upwards. We have developed hugely on and off the pitch.

I doubt if it’s quite true about Reading also. If they got relegated, got the right manager in and started winning the place would be rocking.

Wilmot + Quina for £3m is already looking like shrewd business.

I wonder whether our reluctance to bring a new centre half in is down to how highly they rate Wilmot

This. No idea why Watford don't do that. As an occasional smoker (normally when watching us try to defend), the Vic is one of very few grounds I have been to recently where they don't let you smoke somewhere in the vicinity. It is a bizarre choice which just means people nip into the bogs and have a fag in there, which is surely defeating the object of the club's policy.

I sat next to the Reading drummers who are mates of mine. Quite sad seeing them trying to get some enthusiasm from one of the least engaged home fans I've ever seen. Comments everywhere like "it's like a home game for them" "men against boys" "two divisions above us". Overall it felt like a testimonial game to me with all the highlights on our side. What fun.

Wow. We We utterly annihilated those minnows and it was glorious. We are living in halcyon times. This is by far the greatest squad of players since our tinpot club was founded. Let's hope Senor Gracia is aware of the fact that we are so very tinpot we've never even won a single relevant trophy, and pushes on to become the most successful manager in our history, and secure legendary status.

More importantly than that, I was in the bogs having a long, hot frothy piss when quina's goal went in. But honestly, we played so well I dont even care (that much). I saw it on the telly this morning and it was ok. Chalobah v leicester was better mind.

But the big question is, would the team we put out last night beat the team that started against palace? My answer is a resounding YES. They were supreme.

I don't think that's the question, the question is do we have suitable alternatives to our our current first team should we get the inevitable injuries or loss of form, the answer is definitely YES, unlike the previous few seasons when the second eleven have been a bit underwhelming!

Have to disagree, the 2nd string are being bigged up on here today but some of the play last night was very poor and the sloppy passing, (that we saw tons of), in the Premier League will destroy you. Remember that Reading were bl**dy awful then ask yourself how many saves do you remember the Reading keeper make?

Plus Reading are awful at the moment, and this was their reserves so not surprising they were awful.
    Great goal though !

I've seen it a fair bit at Watford games, some of our fans must record 40-50 minutes of the match in the hope they get a good 10 second clip to get retweets or upvotes on reddit - seems odd to me but each to their own.

Let's put some perspective on all this. Just make sure you are fully enjoying this winning streak whilst it lasts...for it is probable we will be brought right back down to earth over the course of September.

Can’t see the point. They’ll never get a clearer shot or a better angle than the telly boys, plus it’s ruined by the drunken divs around them yelling ‘knock it’, ‘tackle the ball’ or ‘chase it, chase it’

It like going whale watching. Attenborough has already captured better images than you’ll ever get. Leave the camera at home and enjoy this moment.

In fact that should be the slogan for all live events.

The best thing for Holebas is real competition. Masina is excellent and José knows it, drop your levels and you get dropped from the side. I see a team that is fighting to play. We've even got goalkeeping competition for once!

No offence to the one-hit wonder but it's good that out go-to sub isn't someone like Zuñiga.
