Having sat up high behind the benches all season I have to say on Saturday it was quite the refreshing change having an opposition manager behaving as well as Hodgson did. Not only did he make a point of going into the Watford bench area to shake hands with staff and players beforehand, (not seen a single oppo manager do that this season), but he seemed to have time and a few words for everyone who came near him, especially the younger English players who he will no doubt have been in contact with in the past. There were many more examples but to me he seemed like a class act.

Just a shame he's at Palace.

And clapped when Lewington's name was announced.

I'm glad Lewington was so well received. He certainly deserved it for the miracles he performed whilst being the Watford manager.

Was thinking I bet Hodgson wishes he had Gareth Southgate's group in the World Cup - sure Roy generally was a flop with England but we had the hardest group in 2014 and now probably have one of the *easiest (in terms of coming 2nd at least anyway)

    * On paper of course!

Still Southgate probably won't have Kane taking corners...

Very glad someone’s mentioned this. I have a lot of time for Lewington and what he achieved with us with virtually no resources. To get to two semi-finals was miraculous and it was great fun supporting the real underdogs we were back then.

Yes indeed. I remember going to watch us play at Sheffield United under Ray and singing ‘Terry and Ray’ the whole game. Think it was when we got through on pens during our League Cup run, but happy to be corrected on that. It was a tough time when he was in charge but there are still some great memories.

The Terry & Ray chant was a little on the gay side as I recall.

    Surely you can't include a double save - that's 2 saves not one :)

They bought up a good point I hadn't considered or heard before. Apparently we have a high turnover of head coaches!

    Is this true???

Lawro said on 606 a few weeks there is a no soul in the club due to the number of changes made.

Well that is the same for most football clubs these days!

This makes me think that it would be damaging if we were ever to move from the Vic to a bowl near the motorway.

The stadium & the fans which infest it provide the continuity & link with our history.

I wouldn't read too much into whats said by any pundits on motd, by the time 'Still to come Watford' are on it's usually minight and they are half in the land of nod, after watching the lower scoring games and the ads for women's football, tomorrows games U.S. Football etc etc even sitting through the day before's game I think someone involved in the making of that programme doesn't like them 'Orns much

I used to coach a lady who was best friends with Lee Dixon's wife.
Apparently Keown was the butt of many a joke at Arsenal.
He was once given a black and white football to sign and he wrote, with a black marker,on a black section!

Really enjoying the mix of pundits on BBC coverage so far. Fabregas the other night, Ferdinand, Lampard and Zabaleta tonight.

These guys really understand football, or the modern game of football, and bring refreshing and intelligent analysis and insight into the discussion.

Hopefully some of these guys will start ushering out the old guard now on MOTD.

Lawro on the commentary the other night was depressing. Just moaned and whinged the whole way through and takes the enthusiasm and enjoyment out of the game, and needs to be put out to pasture.

No way he'll be frying fish in Derby next season, The Otter will be straight on them, fresh and raw.

You might improve your chances if you didn’t spend Sunday mornings glued to the forum.

Sharing the bed with Relegation Certs & Mr Lizard would give any lady pause for thought.

Just some minutiae of the opening credits of MOTD. Still Deeney with a stag/hart (not a moose). But alternates on MOTD2 with Doucoure.

It’s an upside down stag/hart with a bl00dy cockerel sitting on top.

I have been listening to the Friday night "football social" on 5live in recent weeks - not sure we've been mentioned once!

I am not expecting too much given we've hardly had high profile games but still even Bournemouth/Wolves etc get an odd minute or two.

Guess we'll have to wait for the Liverpool match to get a comment.

Gotta love how shearer, keown and Chapman all just had a good bellowing laugh about how the fulham goal was possibly on side. But should have been ruled out because of the moving ball free kick.

Oh how they all found it hilarious. What brilliant fun.

Had it been against Liverpool, oh how they would have analysed it from 1000 angles and called for the referees head for such an awful decision. How var would have stopped the goal and how it's vital to get it in immediately.

It doesn't matter if it's a small team fighting relegation. If it's a big team fighting for the title though then it's big news.

Gotta love good old bbc bias.

    Exactly.

Jenas, though, was the other BBC stooge.

Some see him as a beacon of punditry.

Sadly for him, he’s a just another obedient **** who’s there to avoid disagreeing with Shearer.

    Less dim than Murphy.
