Yes it is worrying that we chose to play a two man midfield against a lively four man Everton one.

Apparently the first Everton goal should have been disallowed for handball, as it rolled down Mina's arm. It's the fourth time this has happened to Watford this season. Oh well.

Getting some milk and eggs from the local this morning and there were two teens in Watford shirts arguing whether or not Pearson should stay on after yesterday.
Quite ironic really, two defeats in a row and nobody on here has called for his head (yet). It just shows outside of our little bubble on this forum that personal views
    will always differ.

Part of the argument got a bit heated when the subject of "should of kept Silva" arose. I left before it ended but do hope they came to an agreement before blood was spilled.

Good spot. I think I mentioned that at half time it looked like a hint of handball. Add that to Newcastle, Southampton and the rest. Have a nice portfolio of evidence to hand to
the FA when we get relegated in a few months. Like they care anyway.

Saw a stat today saying we've conceded 15 goals from set-plays (joint worse in the division) yet have scored ZERO from set-plays. Pathetic at both ends.

Cathcart is usually one of our most reliable players, but he was at fault for all three goals.

No, my argument was that at least Cathcart had the minerals to come and admit to his mistakes while we people having a go at him who quit going and gave up their ticket. Your argument to that was to pick up on the there, their, they’re being used

No surprise the VAR referee did not over turn it. It was that fat myopic Moss. Nothing more than a cursory examination. Looked like a handball even then in normal time. Everton were pretty embarrassing rolling around feigning injuries. Walcott leaping like a salmon, Digne rolling around at the slightest touch several times so at one point we had a comical VAR review. I half expected Pereyra to be sent off given the standard of officials in the VAR booth.

I said before the match, with Craig Poorson and Jon Toss on VAR we'd be fooked, and so it panned out. It's a clear handball by Mina, yet it goes undetected against us yet again. What can you do. They don't want us in the league and it looks like they'll get their wish. 4 crucial goals against us this season with VAR. It's impossible for this to be accidental. Absolutely impossible.

I'll look forward to those responding claiming none of this happened, as the usual suspects always do.

Capoue did well to get Delph sent off too I think tbh!

Shame it didn't do us much good.

They did do a VAR check on that goal so must have had some doubts?

They showed loads of camera angles at the time, and a VAR review took place, but there was no conclusive angle. Almost every camera was miles away.

I know it’s inconvenient to hear what actually happened, rather than what you imagine happened, but that’s life. Of the 4 you mention, this is by far the hardest prove handball.

Clear handball. You can see it from every angle. No excuses for it to stand. But you will always argue black is white, so let's just leave it there.

If you didn’t argue white was black first it could all be avoided. I say when I agree with you and I say when I disagree.
But we’ve both said our piece on this so yeah, happy to park it.

Both the radio commentators (BBC Three Counties) and the television commentators (Sky) almost immediately said that they thought that the ball had hit Mina's arm. Jon Marks also mentioned that some people in the crowd had called out handball and Tony Gale seemed to expect the goal to be disallowed.

I know, I was watching the stream with Tony Gale on it. But then in the end, once all the various replays had run through, even he had to concede it was impossible to prove conclusively.

Every crowd cries out handball for everything now so that’s pretty meaningless.

That's a very high horse you're riding CleyHorn. You're right of course, I have no hard evidence that we have conceded more last minute, crucial goals than we have scored. I was just expressing how I feel at this moment and from my memory banks of days gone by. Honestly, for the life of me I must be the eternal pessimist because sitting here thinking about it, I can think of very few last minute winners in important games but lots going in the other way. There's no hope for me I guess?

And that was very nice at the time, under the circumstances.

However, he's lost the plot now and has been showing he's out of his depth for some time.

I called it in October that the owners are going for a parachute payment and a sell-up. To be fair, it's not the worst outcome - an injection of Chinese or Russian ££££££ and a hands off management approach. Give it 10 yrs we'll have a new 50000 seat out of town stadium and be in the champions league...!!!

Out of his depth? If you mean he hasn't got the financial clout of Man City's owners you're right. I think he's been too loyal to Giraldi (who can be blamed for our strange recent recruitment policy and the disastrous decision to reappoint QSF) but that aside, I can't see anything to suggest that Pozzo is out of his depth

Talk to a West Ham fan if you want to know what it's like to follow a club where supporters have real reasons to feel aggrieved about their owners

On first viewing, I thought it was handball. Given you mention Tony Gale, I imagine your stream was the NBC broadcast I was watching here.

They did show 3-4 replays from different angles, and none were quite conclusive. That said, and you probably know more about this than me, are the replays we saw the ones being checked by the VAR crew? As in, we see the same replays as they are watching them? If that’s the case, I didn’t feel as though the VAR check was as forensic as I’ve seen them previously when it comes to handball. My mind goes back to City scoring late against Spurs early on this year, that seemed to take minutes, and extreme camera zoom to eventually reach the correct decision. Or even the Alli goal against Spurs, which also seemed to take a long time.

As I said, I immediately thought it looked like handball, and had expected it to take much longer for them to reach a decision. Or is there a new initiative to speed things up? If it’s not immediately obvious, we’ll forgo the forensic analysis.

Remember when Cathcart scored that header from a corner I think it was to beat Spurs last season? Heady days indeed.

The crowd shouting handball is as meaningful as the audience on the Voice pretending to push the button for "every f***ing act".

It was pretty ridiculous leaving anyone 1-on-1 vs Mina at corners. Put a blocker between him & his main marker so he can’t make the run and get an easy jump on his marker. Basic stuff, really.

Well just tortured myself by watching it again. One thing I can't understand is that why Deeney wasn't on Mina for the corners! He had won his fair share of headers and was using physicality well against Mina. Cathcart was floundering for the first. So what do we do, we let Cathcart flounder for the second. It was one of the weakest most pathetic attempts, that's even if you can call it attempt at stopping Mina win the second. Tbh Mina didn't have to do F all to nod in the second. Nobody on the post either.

Cathcart does not have good balance and almost no pace. Yesterday, he was at fault for the first two goals. The third goal, he could have taken Richarlison out, but that is not his style. He is a soft CB.
It is pointless to come out in the press and say sorry. We don't think you care, so why bother. You make one mistake, that is bad enough. To repeat that mistake so quickly is sheer stupidity. I remember Cathcart banging his head with his hands at Bournemouth last season in the 3-3 draw. My guess is that he was still thinking of his error when the 2nd goal went in.
Brighton need to do the same as Burnley. Just pump the ball into our box and the goals will come.
All the good work and hope has gone due to defeats to Villa and Everton, two poor sides.
Failure to win against Brighton will make it difficult to survive. Pearson will already know this and lifting the players after a third defeat against a poor side will be extremely hard.
Without Sarr we seem to be sinking fast. Pereyra does not work hard on the pitch. Others on here have said the same.
Success, what a name. To call yourself Success and claim to be a footballer is stretching it. We may find out that he is probably 42 yrs old like Kanu. £30k a week, get rid of him.
I am expecting him to send me an email soon to state that l have lost Uncle who wants to leave me money.
We need to win at Brighton, no other result will may be good enough .
