I agree, summer maybe but not mid season.

Anyway, out of us, Palace and Southampton, it seems we made the best choice

The Spanish Waiter is linked to Everton I believe.
I expect Silva will leave for a bigger club than Everton, hopefully not soon though.Although I expect Gino has his replacement in the pipeline.

Genuinely think he will end up at Arsenal, possibly as soon as next summer.

A bit too early to start talking about Silva moving on...long season ahead of him yet.

Tony Gale very complimentary about us on Sky this morning. Good owners, players and manager. Even tipped us for getting a positive result Saturday. Wow

Phil Neville agreed with me on why we lost yesterday. The missed Richarlison chance yes, but also the substitutions.

There were many reasons, but these two were key for me. The first Richarlison miss was not as costly as it could have been, as we scored a minute later, but the header would have sealed the game, there's no doubt about it. I don't put any blame on him though, as he was there to miss. He's has a great knack of being in the right place to get these chances. Rarely do you see Deeney or Gray get this type of chance as they don't have the ability to sniff out chances. Richarlison's ability to finish will improve in time.

The tactical switch was not necessarily a bad one in theory, but the subsequent performance of Watson made it look bad. He reduced Watford's quality on the pitch and suddenly Chelsea could win the midfield battle.

From the players we had on the bench, I'd have swapped Deeney with Capoue as he offers the team a lot more than Watson.

You do have to look at Jon Moss' handling of the game and it did have a direct impact on Watford. Of course there's the corner, but for me, the biggest failing was not showing a second yellow to Rudiger. We were leading 2-1 and had Chelsea gone down to 10 men at that stage, which they should have done, we'd have gone on to win I'm sure.

I think yesterday would have been a big lesson though. When you lose you learn a lot about players. You've got to analyse and identify the deficiencies. At the end of the game our defence looked hopeless. We could not deal with routine crosses into the box. Britos should be a commanding figure with all his experience, but he's just so unreliable. He was terrific for us in his first season, but last two seasons he's shown that he cannot be trusted on the pitch. Quite a few goals we have conceded have been down to him. He's not won the header, or he's too deep not holding the line, that crazy red card which no doubt cost us two points. For me Britos is definitely a problem not a solution.

The good thing is, the new signings and coach have elevated the club. Some players have already fallen behind as a result. Football is ruthless and we need players right across the pitch who can step up to the high level others have set. Hopefully this will be addressed in January.

Personally I wouldn't have changed a formation that was working so for me it would be Capoue for Cleverley who had put a shift in and was tiring and Gray for Deeney. Simple really.

Britos should have done a lot better with the equaliser, needed to attack the ball.

True. But it was a great strikers goal for all that.

Annoyingly I'd heard the result before I got to watch the game. Spent nearly 90 minutes just sitting there shaking my head in disbelief the game ended with us losing 4-2. I even wondered if I'd completely misheard the score.

We were great! Love watching us this season!

Not going to criticise the manager, we should have killed the game off before that last 15 minutes and he takes a lot of credit for turning us into that standard a team.

Not going to criticise individual players either, especially sweeping statements about them from small glimpses of game time.

Just going to love watching us and see how far this team can go. There will be new players possibly in January and definitely in the summer and hopefully we will get even more class players through the door, the club and manager know what they are doing. Credit to everyone all round!

Looked like they just pulled Hughes out of the dressing room at the last minute for the post-match interview.

Didn't say a lot about Silva really (unless I missed it) - mainly concentrated on the game.

    “Watford were brilliant” says Shearer.

But presumably some bozo will still whine about us “not getting credit”.

Grays celebration. Was that aimed at Watford fans? I hope not because in general we have backed him regardless of his goalscoring form.

Somebody already did. Suggestting on the match thread that Shearer would only go on about how poor Newcastle were.

I'm afraid we've become quite good at feeling sorry for ourselves in recent times and it's a bit frustrating sometimes, especially as we've had a far bit of praise of late.

Make the most of it. We'll be enjoying very limited coverage on Channel 5 at this rate next season.

Am genuinely looking forward to motd2 tonight to hear the Murphy/Shearer/Keown etc outrage.

I was watching on Canadian tv live, and I think they showed it once after and never really analyzed it, thought the commentary was very biased yesterday.

I thought Mark Chapman was informed and led the discussion about us well tonight. LeSaux was fairly balanced and Schwarzer was a bit ignorant and had a little dig because we always sack managers. So there we are. Chapman is 100% better at that job than linekar but probably paid less than half. (Oh and Michael Owen, who cares what you tweet? You’re not even clever enough to be a regular pundit.) Anyway, it’s been a long day. Sleep well.

Very balanced by Le Saux. Talked how the whole situation would affect the players from a players point of view if the manager had lost focus and how that would affect performances.

Other chap just spieled out the stadard "10 managers in 5 years" cliche crap. Would rather he have a negative opinion than a standard Murphy/Shearer uneducated uninvestigated cliche response.

He’s actually paid a tenth of what Lineker gets. Unbelievable; he’s the best anchor by a mile, whereas jug ears is the biggest w.....

Mark Chapman is very good and as most say Crisp Man is not in the same category.
I've said elsewhere that I've never met anyone, who's met Lineker that has a good word to say about him.
From people who have worked with him,to people whose children have been involved at Spurs when he was involved. They all say how deeply unpleasant he is. Two of these people were Spurs fans so they had no axe to grind.
One day the truth will out.

At least MOTD showed the disallowed goal & Motson commented it would have gone to VAR were it being used. The Sky "extended" "highlights" did not even show it....Sky are not usually that anti WFC, so I found that surprising as it could well be viewed as a pivotal moment in the match.

BBC TV news covered the story briefly. The last sentence in the report put it in context. Points above the relegation places? No. Number of games with only one win? No. They said we're tenth. True, but beside the point.

I concur. I remember a make-up artist who had worked on a shoot with him telling me what an absolute arse he was. And this was over ten years ago - I imagine that he's even worse now as his ego has only got more colossal during the intervening years.
