    What about him?

Let's not get ridiculous and start bringing up strikers who barely kicked a ball in the league. I'm clearly making the Gray comparison against strikers who have played regularly in the division.

I've never seen a regular Premier League striker with such a poor first touch and who looks so frequently awkward, clumsy and uncomfortable with the ball at his feet. That's my opinion.

Maybe Gray should start wearing that white tape that Ngonge and race horses wear above the ankle, always seems to make you look quicker, then nobody would doubt he is in the fast club. Defenders would know that it wasI remember being chuffed when we made a signing that sounded as exotic as Michele Ngonge, soon got over it though.

That's because they didn't expect him to score any.

Well, I think I get it. It strikes me that that is where Gray can come in - his dashes into space, created by defenders who are drawn towards the dallying Peyrera or Deleufeu , might be just the thing. Of course, he's still got to score, but his forte is getting the positions in the first place. Deleufeu needs to lift his head up and look around sometimes.

Trevor Senior who didn't play in the Premier League and finished playing for us before I was born? Yeah, definitely not worth bringing up.

This isn't going to happen bar injury. Gracia replacing the strikers who have scored in the last 2 games, cant see it.

Strikers are judged on goals not their technical ability. We could have a technically gifted striker who struggles for goals and he would be useless for us.
A known technically gifted striker who scores goals would be too expensive.

this is true. Some of you may remember Andy Cole. he scored 40 odd a season but used to miss 40 other ones. Lots of misses but he was always making the runs forward looking for an opening. he used to get slated when he didn't score in a game and missed chances but his end of season tally answered the critics.

    How about Professor Mary Beard?
She has a Batistuta like maneAlthough somewhat grey/Gray,I'm sure she has the wisdom to convert chances.
She knows a lot about the Romans and although doesn't have any tattoos that I know of,she doesn't shy away from vulgarities.
I'm not sure how her goals to minutes ratio matches up to say Professor Peter Jones or Enoch Powell, but I have no doubt someone can provide this.

Pavlyuchenko was a pretty good striker on his day to be fair.

Well I thought we were alright ish at least we kept going. Southampton looked pretty good to me and were obviously all in to avoid relegation.

Watched on TV , was starting to get very pissed off with the commentator going on about the 7 second goal, I know he scored in 7 seconds - I was watching, didn't need to be reminded every 2 mins !!!

Even if we loose everything else looks like we are going to win the FairPlay table. , we are currently 18 points clear of Man U who are in second place. Why is discipline at Watford so poor we have had 84 yellow cards this season, it seems to have always been the case regardless of manager. I think big Troy has really let us down by getting a red at this point in the season, if he was playing yesterday I think we would have had a good chance of winning.

Gray, he scores but for me better as a super sub , success he does t score for me better in an actual sub

Guess 7th is between who ever wins on Saturday and Everton

Oddly, we return to bending over.

Shortly after felicitous Felicity scored such a huge hit in dungarees, a lithe, blonde took her ‘butt to camera’ aesthetic to a different level.

‘Professor’ Michael Wood created his own, buttock centric reading of Greek history.

In my house, we had to take our tv to the car wash after each show.

I like Michael Wood. Also, coincidentally, the name of our nearest M4 services. Not a patch on Gloucester though, where there is a really fancy deli/farm shop/restaurant.

    So it is!

The classic shot is the Felicity one where he walks away from camera, ideally uphill, but then glances over his shoulder to deliver the definitive bon mot.

The jeans are, though, now baggier, the buttocks scrawnier & hence his narrative a little less compelling.

I disagree. I thought his history of China was magisterial. He has acquired a gravitas which he lacked in his youthful years.

Doubtful he could fill in for Nate, though.

More likely to see Nate challenging for the Michael Wood role next season, to be fair.

Interesting. Are you confident a westerner can have that level of understanding of China?

Assuming Nate never plays football again, I could see a dream team of him & Stacey.

You can tell what an amazing season it’s been when we still have something on the 36th game and it isn’t relegation along with the small matter of an FA Cup Final. Not too shabby, not too shabby at all.

Fair point. I was taught by an English chap called Jonathan Spence who, at the time (late 80s) was regarded as the world’s leading scholar on Chinese history, so I guess this is an assumption on my part rooted in that experience.

In any event, it was damn good telly, properly meeting the Reithian brief.

DMB speaking in Latin to Shearer & Ince would be a traffic stopper.

Also, AS might have a stimulating 'yoof take' on Pompeii.

Btw, if I were in charge, I'd get Jenas on Blue Peter pronto. The cleancut Peter Purvis role. Stuart Pearce as Noakes?
