By '****ish' I sincerely hope you're not referring to my Deeney/fan comment which was so obviously not serious that you'll notice I didn't even bother to react to your subsequent mini-meltdown.
As for fatigue, many of Richarlison's opponents have played just as regularly if not far more of late, given that we are involved in a single competition and he isn't an international.
I just happen to believe that his recent lack of form is just one of those things that happen to most sportsmen and is likely to be attributable to many things before fatigue.

How many decent games had he actually had for us? I was trying to remember at the match yesterday. I think it's about 3. Being crap it's actually his more normal status. I bet he still goes to a bigger club in the summer though, just because of the early season hype cos he's an exotic Brazilian.

If he was British he would be playing for Scunthorpe.

Atmosphere was flat in the first half, but was rocking for most of second I thought. Since okaka and femenia turned up really. What a double substitution that was.

    A few comments:

    1. The poor, down-trodden second team's, sh.tebags city's forum really does stand out as cast adrift at the bottom of the league amongst a sea of mediocrity. Not us though. I'm even more pleased now that I dropped a couple of pre-match turds into their sweetie bags. Could become a new routine (like StuBoy's).

    2. The game was transformed with the arrival of Kiko and Okaka. The wee man was a revelation. Impish and a constant threat down the right. I really hope he hasn't picked up another knock. For me, Okaka does what he always does. Challenges for the ball, is good in the air, holds the ball up, plays a decent pass, can dribble with it, is very skillful with the ball for a big man (hence his self-manufactured chance) and reasonably speedy. As far as I've seen he always brings those qualities to the table albeit maybe not for 90 mins.

Troy does not have many of those qualities (neither does Gray) but he had a good game yesterday (especially when Kiko and Okaka came on) and took his chance magnificently. I doubt that we will be able to afford the luxury of 'two big men upfront' on a regular basis though.

    3. The streamers. Fired into the Rookery roof by the 1881 during the pre-match flag-waving bit and got stuck in the wire grill under the roof. What a larff. I do admire their inventiveness.

No idea how they'll be removed. Maybe they'll have to simply bio-degrade. Hopefully they're not made of plastic then.

Tennis players regularly retire during games when the going gets tough and they are feeling knackered. They can also manage their schedule by skipping tournaments as well which footballers can’t do.

I personally don’t agree with Richarlison being physically burnt out, he’s a young lad and there have been plenty of breaks, the last being the two weeks before this game. I do believe in mental burn out though. I dont have a physically demanding job, but it can become mentally tiring and draining, some time off and a holiday every now and then when you can just switch off completely is a must and I’m sure that’s the case for all of us. Having to motivate himself every week for months on end could easily become mentally draining. A break to forget about football mentally and just switch off I’m sure would do him the world of good, as it does for all of us.

I think the tennis v football analogy has been done to death. As you suggest they're too entirely different sports with different demands.

If Richy has gone off the boil for a time now (as would appear to be the case) then he should be rested on pragmatic grounds alone. Without the need to get into 'should be capable of' territory.

Its worth pointing out that if we manage to finish above Burnley and Bournemouth we may have to shout for joint managers of the year awards for Silva/Grazia. Shall we do it to try and get Martin Samuel to self combust!

Sadly Richarlison has been maybe the biggest victim of the injury crisis we had/have. I suspect if we had the luxury of benching him here and there, we would have done, such was the downturn in his fortunes. But obviously we could not do this.

It’s true that he and Pereyra need to start playing to their obvious ability again though. Too often games are starting to pass them by.

Whilst I’d say it’s true that Okaka maybe deserves a start, I actually think he’s far more effectual as a sub for 30 minutes and it suits his style and game far better. Maybe we do look better with two up top - but I think that’s due to our misfiring attacking midfielders. If Pereyra and Richarlison hit form, we will be fine with just one up front.

Yep. Excellent. Caps fooled the Everton defence by looking one way and passing the other, then, shortly after, spoilt it a little by looking the right way and shooting the other...

I don't think Rich is necessarily tired, its more that he's not progressed.

His initial form was based off him being an unknown quantity, and his reputation now means that teams often double up on him. He doesn't have the footballing intelligence to take up better space, and as a result ends up boxing himself in when he gets possession.

He's also still guilty of shooting when there's no option on. He hits the target with 1 every 5 shots which is appalling.

It would take a space far larger than the Rookery to spread Samuel's guts thinly.

As the players came out some canon type device fired them up in the air. It looked really good. Then they got stuck in the netting and I thought to myself "that's going to really p*ss off some of the Rookery".

    Idea: Great
    Reality: Poor

Pereyra played one lovely ball behind the defence to Deeney in the second half but he was just far too slow to get to on the end of it.

I'm not saying he had a good game but as an attacking midfielder when you lift your head and it's either Deeney or nobody making a run behind - what exactly do you want him to do?

Relax gents - Gracia is renowned for his loyalty, to players or the cause. He won't be Slither Mark 2 and I suspect we'll keep him for a good while.

Obviously we're in the very early days, but for me he looks the best head coach we've had since Joka. Tactically flexible, doesn't alienate first team squad members, balanced play, good media handling, excellent demeanor and personality.

Looking forward to seeing what he can do after a transfer window and a full pre-season to condition and drill the squad.

Tennis players also run somewhere around 3-4 miles over the course of 5 sets, which for a men's match is likely to be over the course of 3-4 hours. There are also breaks in action between sets.

Footballers easily break 10 miles over 90 minutes.

The comparison is silly. It makes about as much sense as looking at Usain Bolt and saying "wow, look at Bolt, he's knackered after running 100m. Distance runners can go for miles!".

    Different activities are different.

Ah, the latest "on-trend" word for the social fascist to apply to anyone who doesn't agree with his/her outlook on life. It follows up "Nerd", "Geek" and "Anorak" as terms of abuse for those who don't comply with the "norm" as they see it.

The price of football (even at Vicarage Road) is so high these days that anything, that interferes with someones pleasure (apart from the football that is), should be pointed out - I doubt if the club or 1881 will repeat that exercise without some revision to its execution.

He certainly gives that impression but we are his 10th managerial charge in 11 seasons.

Wiki labels him the ‘current’ WFC supremo.

As with our situation, stats don't tell the actual tale.

The details matter. He walked away from a job because he wanted to keep faith with a squad who got him promoted and the club wanted him to replace them, for example.

Richarlison's form has declined as a result of mental burnout and fatigue - he is sorely in need of a rest.

Also, he's now a marked man in the PL, and teams are getting better at defending against him.
