Good job we won yesterday, I had that awful feeling we were the side on a glass mountain wearing a pair of moccasin slippers.

    No. I'm with you Mollyboo.
These lazy a**holes should be playing a couple of games a day, 3 hrs, nothing less. He can't be tired. I expect he is probably just bored at only working 90 minutes a week.

We are actually close to the top of the mountain, wearing rubber-soled Doc Martins and urinating freely down the glass on those that are below us.

    Sorry.

Ah, the latest 'on trend' word to apply to anyone who doesn't agree with his/her outlook on life.
BTW, the social fascists are the more cuddly version. Wait 'til you meet an anti-social fascist.

I'd like to take the opportunity to ask someone that employs this argument device why the f*** they do it.
Is it intended to be clever? Witty? Maybe you think others that use it come across as intelligent?

It would be fantastic to have the same coach for, say, 5 seasons.

It allows the squad to develop & grow, & strengthens the bond with the supporters.

Rapid rotation of coaches for an outfit of our budget is a lottery which increases the possibility of relegation.

Each Prem season we have had a dramatic collapse of form.

To date, we’ve had enough points in the bank each time.

I can almost see the steam billowing off the glacier, obscuring the distant view of the likes of Palarse, the Toon & the Pulis teams far below.

Only a faint cry of ‘Buy me!’ from the urchin like Gabbiadini breaks the Alpine silence.

Great goal but it doesn't gloss over the fact that he was one of the worst players on the pitch. Again.

I agree but cannot see us managing that (but Muff have). Too good a coach will be pinched and one not up to the mark will be replaced.

By "argument device" I guess you mean sarcasm ?
I rarely use it. Only when a point of view is so stupid - it's a simple way to highlight this. For example suggesting that a 20 year old who has played solidly for almost a year now can't be tired as he only plays once a week. I presume on that basis you feel the summer break is a bit of a waste of time ?

Funnily enough forza, I thought that I had made up the term (actually two words) "social fascist" meaning someone intolerant of others by using derogatory names, but it appears that it was applied to a brand of fascism around in the early 1930s. There was not much cuddly about Social Fascism apparently according to the entries in Wikipedia.

Anyway back to the footie - Man Us result today puts our result against Chelsea into some sort of perspective. Based on this we should go up to Old Trafford and give them a 2 goal thrashing - but probably won't.

Yeah, but mollyboo knows loads about the demands made of professional athletes, and he’s probably performed at an equally high level, giving him the ability to make such a judgement. Its definitely not a lazy, unqualified statement based on the idea that being a professional athlete requires no more than showing up on a Saturday and running about for 90 minutes.

I might be more on board with your 'Richarlison is dead on his feet' line if it weren't for the fact that the man himself is desperate to play to the point of being brought to tears when subbed.

Now I might not know what stresses snd strains Richarlison's under on a daily basis, but are you all seriously suggesting that he doesn't?

  25. Would appreciate sight of the evidence you have considered for this opinion.

By way of contrary evidence, I would suggest you take a look at plucky little Watford, who are enjoying their third season in the Prem, and look set on a fourth.

On the previous two occasions where they stuck with the manager they got promoted with, they went straight back down. Which suggests your argument is flawed, and your above claim erroneous.

We are not like a Sunderland or Hull, who change a coach after it is too late. We (Gino) act when he needs too, and waits when he needs to.

Make your affinity with Gino, rather than Mazzarri or Silva, and think of our coaches like players, who, if they turn out s***e, will be moved on at the right time.

Now I have seen it for six years nearly, I find it difficult to perceive that anyone thinks manager centric projects are preferable to what we have.

Didn't do much harm to the possibility of promotion either.

I think that, after listening to so many professionals involved in the game saying that players do need a rest in these circumstances, I would be pretty sure your point of view is the correct one.

But this aspect of a pro footballers life has always puzzled me. A max of 1.5 to 3 hours maximum exertion every week, with 4/5 days of varied training for about 4/5 hours a day, for a bloke at his physical peak (quick recovery, etc), hardly seems much to me either.

Maybe we have to experience the physical effort to understand it.

  28. I wouldn't suggest he doesn't. But then, neither would I suggest it is a sign that he is not dead on his feet. Emotions like that are more often than not a very strong sign that someone is not in the best position to make decisions for themselves regarding the subject of those emotions.

Yes, I knew what you were driving at. One of the problems I have is that I am intolerant of intolerance itself. Catch22 I suppose. However I am increasingly irritated by the term "snowflake" which is why I used the term social fascist i.e. someone who thinks that only their view of the world matters. Perhaps, in retrospect, fascist was too strong a word - although Tony Coton's moustache did look very close to a certain German leader of the 30s.

Sigh. Bringing up past arguments (even though you've misquoted me) to divert from the fact that Troy is becoming more and more out of place in the Premier League by the week. If Troy hadn't have scored a bloke who has only just joined up with the squad again for training last week and is blowing out of his arse after 30 minutes would have beaten him to man of the match and been the most effective striker on the pitch.
