1.) Because at the time, £25m wasn’t enough to entice them to sell. We stayed in the PL that season. Regardless of the amount Deeney played in that, doesn’t matter. The payoff of staying up made it worth it.
2.) Where’s the proof of that? If WBA request a conversation regarding buying Deeney, we’d turn up and see what they have to offer. We did. And it wasn’t enough. Hardly constitutes ‘looking to sell’.

According to reports and the wording of each report, it lends heavily to the fact that Okaka is the one they are actively looking to push out door. Say what you wish in response but the available evidence says different.

I don’t want ***-for-tat arguments, especially with a good contributor such as yourself. But no. Fairly conclusive that I’m not wrong in either count.

Or the opposite. Okaka ran Liverpool ragged don’t forget and he’s been worthy of being our best option ever since. Forget about the fact he’s been average or worse whenever he’s had a sniff of football since. It’s the Liverpool game that counts.

He didn't run Liverpool ragged. He was decent for a bit, got a goal, then seemingly got knackered and completely faded out of the game.

I don't know if it's fitness or his work ethic, but Okaka has never played well for more than 20 minutes in a match for us.

But you said anyone's for sale if they stump up the cash. At the time Deeney wasn't for sale...now he is.

Never said he wasn’t for sale. They all are. Just saying £25m wasn’t enough to make them sell. Much like £16m wasn’t now.

The difference is you claimed we are actively looking to sell him. And I don’t see any evidence of this. I see evidence of WBA wanting him for a price, and moving on when we didn’t agree to it. Were we open to selling him? Yes, I agree that looks likely.

I’m very happy in my house. But I’d sell it if someone offers me what I would want for it.

Is that attempt at irony - telling me to grow up using a schoolboy retort? Clever.

So is Troy staying now that WBA have signed Sturrock?

    Congratulations, that almost made sense....almost.

I don't support a player...I support the team and the club. No one player is bigger than the club.

I don't see Deeney bringing anything to the table at the moment evidenced by the stats I posted. That may change in which case I'll admit I was wrong, however we need a striker who can change games...Deeney isn't the answer at the moment.

So if by selling him, we can generate some cash towards a decent striker and it improves the TEAM...I'm all for it.

Apologies if I don't pray to my Deeney poster every night.

Feel sorry for Walsall. They've been hoping for their windfall every transfer window for about four years now...

He was crap. He looks like he's in peak physical condition though.
