Disagree. Being the main man with a world cup a few months away will be a shot in the arm to him and i expect these little niggles will magically disappear.
Wonder which striker we are aiming to bring in to replace Okaka if he goes ? Adam L has also said we are planning to bring someone is and its unlikely to be Afobe if he's going back to Wolves.

Must have been the bar bill. No mere mortal could be expected to split a food bill with Deeney.

So what you are saying is that you want to keep our most unfit striker who can barely run for 5 minutes and replace two strikers with "better" players. Who are these better players you want? I don't think Messi, Suarez or Kane are available in this transfer window

 

With all due respect, I think there is a lot of middle ground between “better than Gray/Deeney” and Messi or Suarez.

Apparently the move to WBA broke down due to Deeney's contract demands for no relegation clause. Deal literally hit the buffets.

 

With all due respect who are these better players we must sign? How do we know if they are better players? Most on here were pleased with the signing of Gray as he was a "better" player than Deeney. Not sure if that has quite worked out as thought and I suspect anyone we buy at this late stage would not be a better option than Deeney.

If we could ever sign Messi I am sure our fanbase would turn on him and ask the Pozzo's to sign "better" players.

Gray was first or second choice at Burnley when we signed him. So you would like to see us sign strikers such as Glenn Murray, Wilfred Bony and Dwight Gayle as they are currently first or second choice strikers at their Premier League clubs?

Wasn't Deeney accused of being unfit when he came back from injury? No leeway given there but lets use that as an excuse for Okaka who can barely run for a few minutes without looking like he needs oxygen. It seems however that I am not alone in feeling Okaka should be the player on his way out. If the WO is to be believed the heirachy at the club want to see him out as well.

That's not the point. You said could barely run for 5 minutes intimating he wasn't fit. My point is you get match fitness by playing matches...the clue is in the phrase 'match fitness'.

 

I would rather have Dwight Gayle than Gray, although they are both sub standard.

 

Also you were in a minority to keep Deeney as the same hierarchy were prepared to let him leave had WBA stumped up the cash.

So Deeney's only here by default.

Barcelona would let Messi leave if someone stumped up enough cash. It means nothing. I’m sure there has been many a phone call over the past few years from Dubai and Qatar to do just that - and a price has been quoted that the buyer doesn’t want to pay. Again, it means nothing.

I just don’t really get it - Deeney has had a dodgy few months but on the whole has shown far more in his Watford career and the PL than Okaka ever has. Okaka not being given the minutes to disprove that? That’s because successive managers have deemed him not better than the other strikers available. The club are desperate to get rid of Okaka if the WO is to be believed, perhaps just maybe, there’s a reason for that. We wanted £20m for Deeney. We are willing to let Okaka joint a Championship team on loan. The difference is stark.

Fair enough you don’t go along with the outlook of other fans that Deeney is better. But our recent managers and current owners disagree.

 

1) Why not sell him to Leicester then for £25m?
2) They're looking to sell him but couldn't agree a fee.

Wrong on both counts I'm afraid.

 

I tell you what, Deeney has shed some weight. He's looking trim, almost back to his Premier League debut size.

Hopefully that will coincide with some performances from that period too.

 

The fact that he had a slow start was probably a lot to do with his operation and lack of proper pre-season. I have felt in recent games he has been getting more consistent - a decent game and first open play goal against Bristol, two assists and a good performance against Southampton and great "goal" versus Leicester plus terrific lofted through ball for Andre's one on one miss - so the "illness" on Saturday, real or otherwise, was a real disappointment.

The trouble is once a fan decides they don't like a player any more they see only what they want to see.
