Twas the first day of April. The village lies eerily empty, all inhabitants safely locked away from the evil virus that lurks amongst us. Nature carries on as if nothing is happening. Spring digs in its heels as wildlife and colour emerge from their cold sleep. The trees in the forest sway and small houses creak as the warmer sun hits them in the morning.

But today the lockdown is over and the villagers are allowed back to their normal routine. Good and evil will mix once again. Can the villagers root out the bad apples before they are taken down, one by one.

As the villagers slowly emerge from their small habitats, blinking at the warm Spring sun, they notice the fool. The fool dances about the village, jumping on to walls, screeching "April Fool" at the top of their voice. "April Fool", "April Fool", "April Fool". The fool is harmless but d*mned annoying. The fool is amongst you. The fool is good but will show as evil if viewed. Yes, you also have the tinker.

    The Village is OPEN.

Given the lack of other available information, and the political views of many of you on here, it seems the obvious choice for a first day lynching would be the banker - GoingDown.

I'm the village DPD driver. Please don't open the door. I'll leave the packages on your steps and text you to confirm drop off.

Anyone caught nicking parcels from people's steps will have the ring doorbell footage shared on the Village Facebook group.

Except once it's over all those concerns will probably be swept under the carpet.

"If numbers are letters, and letters are numbers,
They match from the start, and the truth lies within."

    Two things.

Who needs a carpet fitter when I can't go into folks houses?

And what an unusual first message!

Can't recall seeing a first message like that before, either way, doesn't make much sense.

The "numbers are letters" bit, reference to Roman Numerals?

    I V X L C D & M.

I'm good at cryptic crosswords but this is bizarre, because if the writer wanted to portray themselves as the seer you'd expect something a bit more clearer than that!

Disregard the message, it didn't say 'Good morning villagers' so it's not directed at us.

    That's my excuse.

Cryptic message or not, let's not forget someone has been named evil... This could be a lucky break.

Obviously we await the second message though.

The seer has 17 players to view (they know themselves as not evil) and 4 players would show as evil (including the Tinker) so there's a slightly less than 1 in 4 chance of them striking an evil viewing on their first go.

Not impossible, but a pretty good stroke of luck if so.
