Really hope it’s Duran. He’s much better than Wesley though can understand why the latter fits the profile.
Archer? Not that keen on Wesley personally. Duran would be interesting, played with Asprilla at Envigado so they already have an existing connection on the pitch etc

He's never been much of a goal threat wherever he's been and doesn't really match the statistical profile we've been after in our strikers so far this window. Hoping it's Duran.
Duran would be better but I do feel Wesley is a player who just lacks confidence right now. There’s a reason Villa spent £20m on him. Of course I may be wrong but it’s not all doom and gloom just yet
If he did perform well, we wouldn’t be able to sign him. The state of the club right now is to try and sign scraps and hope they find their feet. Going to have to accept this for the next 1-2 years.
The general consensus seems to be it’s Wesley. If so, and the Georgian joins too, that’s three players this window who’ve had serious injuries but who have also shown great promise and good form in between. That would suggest that’s our strategy this season. A gamble for sure, but if even two of them stay fit and show us what they’re capable of, then you could say our policy is a success.

Yeah, he averaged a goal every 3 games in the 2 seasons prior to joining Villa and is certainly a handful physically but just hasn't worked for him since then, we're hardly the club to boost someones confidence and get them firing again so it's pretty uninspiring to me. Hopefully I'm wrong and he bags 15 this season though!
Davis is much better than Wesley. Seems strange that we’re downgrading on a player who wasn’t very good for us last season.
I’d like to think it’s another string to my bow! Ok so not saying people are wrong to trash Wesley but why the hostility? He is a full Brazilian international who had a decent first season with Villa until Ben Mee clobbered him. Also we’d not be relying on him to be our top scorer, he’d be a foil to Healy hopefully. An assister as much as a scorer. Hopefully the Reilly to Healy’s Johnson. The obvious concern is he’s not been the same since his serious injury. So are we wrong to hope we can get him back to a little form? That seems to be the marker we have to operate in this summer.
Agree - seems quite a big name signing to me for where we are. The obvious problem is Wesley, Healy and the new Georgian chap all coming off at least one serious injury. With the awful record of our medical team in terms of preparing players and recuperating them over the years it seems like it has a fair chance of problems to me. I mean Kayembe was out for a few weeks and then ended up not being seen for the next 6 months - it's chaotic incompetence.
