None of us really understand catering at the Vic. And I mean that seriously. Why the fark have the hot drink stand separate from the the rest of the kiosks?

 

Yes they may well do. What’s your point though? What does actioning that look like for you? Do you want them to come out and officially rule themselves out of the running for a player a website linked us with? I’m sure like all football clubs there’s a target 1,2,3,4 and we’ll be Watford and end up with target number 4

 

I'm sure they do this but it's a gamble isn't it ? If your #1 target might still join and it goes to the wire, do you take the risk or settle for #2, #3 etc etc. We will never be the #1 choice for a player if prem clubs or the big 3 that came down are interested. In fact if we are their #1 choice, that in itself can set alarm bells ringing. Getting excited about potential signings and then frustrated that we don't sign the best we are linked with is just part of the entertainment over the summer while the Aussies hammer us.

 

We go in to administration he won't get his money back. If that's the only debt we have at the end of the season we will be in a good place. I'm not convinced that will be the case though

 

No me neither, he shouldn't have made such a boast, it will be fine for the 3rd party debt to be dramatically reduced to clearly manageable levels rather than zero.

South Korea forward Cho Gue-sung had interest in the Championship (#WatfordFC talks + Blackburn #Rovers, #LCFC interest) but has deal in place to sign for FC Midtjylland in Denmark worth around £2.6m

 

What a shock.

 

Makes sense - he looked a decent player so unlikely we would make him a sensible offer when those funds could be diverted to Mogi.

 

Makes me wonder if the same will happen with Styles. Leventhal reported we were in talks with the pair & that's also gone quiet.

 

On the one hand if he was our number 1 target then this is disappointing. On the other hand, I thought his YouTube highlights reel made him look clumsy and weak (and I have already said this before finding out we've missed out). Obviously the concern is, if he was target number 1, who is next on the list?

 

I hope we've really got some decent signings lined up, as so far I'm unimpressed. A bulk standard journeyman Champ winger with potential attitude issues, a lower league striker with a recent bad injury and a past his sell-by defensive midfielder. We've got to be doing a lot better than this, or else we'll be in a relegation scrap for sure.

I'd have thought that surely if we were really interested we'd have been able to pay the £2.6mil, which is very much at the lower end of what his suggested fee would be, and that we'd be a bigger draw than Midtjylland.

Perhaps this means we have another target lined up?

 

Sorry but all things being equal I don't think a player would pick Midtjylland over us, even in our current state.

The Danish league is a nothing competition, and Midtjylland are only in the Europa Conference League.

I think the comment in bold that is a little unfair. Wasn't it just 4 years ago the CEO and Chairman stated he wanted the club to be the "best of the rest"? Even this season, after several years of watering down expectation the message is "we are one of the best Championship clubs" and a "top 30 club", meaning at the very least a top 10 Championship club. Right now we seem to be acting like a newly promoted League One club, scraping by in the hope we do enough to stay up. I think it's right to be disappointed with how it's going to date.

Not withstanding things could improve and we sign some excellent "off the radar" shrewd players, but right now I'm just not seeing it. We've got this vast array of expenditure on the hierarchy. Duxbury's salary alone is in the top 12 of English football. What's he doing to justify that? Giaretta, Manga, Costa and the vast array of scouts have to deliver. Tom Ince, Rhys Healey, Jake Livermore and a loan player from Udinese (or players of that ilk), just don't cut it for me and I don't think it's wrong to expect more from this window.

Yup, same owner. Looks to be a market they're now scouting heavily as Brentford have just bought an 18 year old CB from Korea as well.

 

Where was that announced?

If true then the player seems to have been pretty foolish - Midtjylland could end up only playing a few games early in the season in the poxy Europa League and he'd also not be able to prove very much by playing in the Danish league itself. Maybe it's true what the player said and he doesn't see himself as being that good, or even ready for a league like the Championship.

 

The Brentford link is presumably pretty enticing though?

 

It may be more a case of us not being prepared to pay the fee rather than him turning us down.
