I don't think anyone expected that, as I say he's not rich enough, but some kind of involvement? Perhaps?
They sing what now? I sit on the halfway line on their side of the pitch, and can’t hear anything from them, which is just as embarrassing.
Oooh, hello, now that would be Something for the Weekend on 1 April...come on JP, you KNOW you want to...!
Spot on. Their little section makes a fair bit of noise but it rarely gets picked up across the rest of the Rookery, let alone the rest of the stadium, because mostly their songs are cringe. I know it's all top bantz but I'm not going to sing about Wigan's support being f'ing sh1t when (a) so's ours and (b) the few hundred who did make it had come down on a long round trip to watch their bottom of the table side play in the midst of a financial meltdown at their club on a day when there's a national train strike. It's top support and fair play to them, so the song's just brainless.
I just remember the 90s being without hope of going anywhere much. Not that I got to many games. This season I had very low expectations given our squad in September, so feels less painful than either of our recent relegations (one annoyingly avoidable, the other inevitable). Do agree I've never seen the fans so down. We could have kept Edwards, finished mid-table, and built for next season and most of us would perhaps be happier with the club.
Great post. I couldn’t agree more about getting players to respect the officials as in rugby, but the problem is the football authorities don’t have the bo***cks to carry through with any initiatives. Remember the one about retreating 10 yards a a free kick? The attacking team were going to get an extra 10 yards if they didn’t get back, as in rugby. The enforcement of it lasted about two months and then it was forgotten. (Fortunately we now have the magic spray.) There have been innumerable examples like this over the years: kicking the ball away was an automatic yellow card at one time - what happened to that?
Kicking the ball away. Picking up the ball when giving away a foul and walking away with it before throwing it high as they can in the air Arguing with with the ref Swearing at the ref Time wasting, one warning that goes for the whole team followed by a booking for anybody that does it again If a player decides to sit down on the pitch to stop the game they should be told to get off the pitch immediately. Booking if they don't Faking injury or making a meal of one ala Fernandes from Man Utd a couple of weeks back All yellow cards Head injuries should be followed by 10 mins off the pitch to be assessed. Those that get bad head injuries will benefit from a proper check up, those who cheat will let their team down Remove VAR but keep goal line technology Add the correct time on at the end of the game. 6 mins on Saturday could easily have been 10 although I think we were all grateful when it was over None of the above will happen I've loved going to football for all those years but the current players and regime and I mean all of football not just Watford are ruining it for me
I’ve been paying a football club to beat the hope out of me most weekends for the past 4 seasons. The process is nearly complete!
I see Wigan have been deducted 3 points today, for failing a beat a crap team at the weekend no doubt.
Heard their owner was just about to pay the monthly wages when he felt contact and went down holding his head in front of club office staff.
Agree with most of this, but personally think Mclean is well within his rights to celebrate like that given he'd just been getting a large amount of abuse for no reason about 5 minutes before that. If you're happy to give it, you've got to be able to take it...
Surely they could've just given us the three points instead. Officials are crap I can't wait for VAR next season when we p!ss this league.
