Sounds like Benfica’s talented (yet apparent fourth choice) 20 year old striker Henrique Araujo will be joining on loan, per Record. Slipped down to fourth choice (behind Ramos, Tengstedt and Petar Musa) this week at Benfica after they brought in Tengstedt but he has 5 goals in 369 first team mins for Benfica and 28 goals and 10 assists for their second team in 4000 or so mins (they play in the Second Tier in Portugal). 7 in 10 for Portugal u21 too. Will have played with Joao Ferreira. Pretty happy with this if it comes off. Hopefully there is a buy option but nothing reported yet. https://twitter.com/cabinesport/status/1615524294141804546?s=46&t=nnfbECKadseFHpLsz0z_1w
Would be a great loan. He’s been in and around the first team this season getting minutes. Certainly much better than Bayo off the bench. Portugal’s #9 for their u21’s as well. He’s very highly thought of so I would say there is very little chance of there being a buy option unless it’s for silly money. Either way, would be happy with this.
I know we can have more than 5 in the total squad - but the number of loans is silly. When we have a reasonably fit squad again, there’s going to be some decent players left out on a match day.
Just make Kamara permanent again, easy! We could sign him on a free and then sell him to Udinese again for another £16m later. #allonebigpotofmoney
4th choice 20 year old striker ? One for the future / bench rather than immediate first team player ??
Not played much - but seemingly when he has played for Benfica, he’s got goals. He’s also scored in the Portuguese top league and Champions League this season. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if he’s possibly being seen as first choice material. Davis could be out for a while (and can’t be trusted to stay fit/has never been a goalscorer), Manaj is also out for months (and is turd) and Bayo was shown up by a 17yr old at the weekend. This young lad was being linked with moves to Liverpool, Barcelona and City this past summer - I don’t see how Benfica send him here without some sort of conversation around regular game time.
Could also be said that Cameron Archer was a 4th choice 21yr old, with a lesser scoring record (and less suited to Bilic’s style)
Yes, but 4th choice in a better league, used to living in UK/English football, and already proven impressively in this league.
I'm all for signing young and talented players. However, if the club are serious about promotion then we need players who are going to hit the ground running. You never really know how long players who have never played over here will take to adapt, especially young ones.
If the club was serious about promotion at the start they wouldn't have signed players that kept hitting the ground injured!
Huge banter from the club to go from 'rule of eleven is absolutely essential to compete in the Championship' to signing loads of 19/20 year old foreign players. Tbf, this guy does look pretty good - proper finisher with both feet and can head it too. All about whether he can adapt to the Championship.
Basically if they had backed Rob in the summer with these kinds of signings, they wouldn't be making them in Jan
Duxbury looks like a right mug as each day passes . Guy will have to hit the ground running but sounds good .
Ah you see Bayo's committed the worst sin of all now. He's woken the Vicarage Road grumblers from their slumber by walking slowly off the pitch. It turns out that was the ultimate sin, not being a garbage footballer.
'Bout right though. I can suffer sh1t, we've had enough practice at suffering it. But I expect our sh1t to be sh1t whilst dedicated to the cause.
Every top club in Europe was after this lad following the UEFA Youth League. Real Madrid were strongly reported to be interested not too long ago.
At age of 11 in '74 I was a bit for a while before I realised my younger sister liked them. I actually bought "Shang-a-lang".....
This shows the impact of having Helena Costa and an actual scouting team and sporting director rather than relying on Mogi Bayat informing Giaretta who we should sign while he browses xhamster.
Saw a bit of him (but far from an expert on him like I was Manaj!) last season for Benfica B when working for Casa Pia. Can do a bit of everything, highly talented and am somewhat surprised there seemingly wasn't any interest from top flight Portuguese sides for a loan (unless there's a buy option involved)
Looking forward to the terrace fury when talented 20 year old Portuguese kid is picked ahead of goalscoring 17 year old "one of our own" Adeyemo.
