I didn't follow this game; I went paddleboarding with a mate, instead.

We started with both Sarr and JP on the pitch, and lost 3-2 to 17th-placed QPR?

Sierralta is brilliant at this level unless you ask him to play the ball out, been great for us in the middle of a back 3 this season and was fine when asked to keep it simple 2 seasons ago. Hopefully Hause proves somewhat competent with the ball at his feet on the left (I don't think he's great but surely being left-footed gives him an advantage over anyone else in that regard), but I think what today has taught us is that we could really do with a ball-playing CB on the other side. Kamara last season (albeit in the Prem against far better teams) did look quite out of place defensively as a left-back in a 4, I think his best position is as a wing-back in a back 3 (whether we'll ever get to see him there is another matter!).

After West Brom, we did go and sign Choudhury pretty much straight away after we were badly exposed in the middle, I am not sure if that deal was already in the works or not, but hopefully we have something lined up after today!

I wouldn't argue with that. Only 6 games in and people saying they have had enough of the season. And some then choose to sl*g off the people with a more balanced perspective. Comical.

I think brilliant is very generous of you. He's terrible 1v1 because he moves like an ironing board and constantly gets too tight to his man and gets turned.

People won't like to hear it but the truth is we didn't look any more threatening with Pedro and Sarr against QPR at home than with Bayo and Manaj against Preston away. If anything, we looked more dangerous against Preston.

Good skills. Off to Brownsea Island tomorrow. Luckily brought plenty of beers to the beach today and probably need more tomorrow too. Funnily enough we're staying with friends who are moving to Wimborne soon.

Apart from having more shots on target today, scoring twice today and JP scoring one of them?

I went to the game but went paddle boarding last week.

Not done it before and left it too late to stand up and my legs were like jelly. Was on the canal at Paddington so didn’t fancy falling in there.

That was my first match at the vic since Arsenal
At home ? as have been unable to go for various reasons . My streak of barely seeing Watford win
    continues then …

    A few thoughts…

I thought we would be ok defensively but we were all over the place and Rangers could have had a couple more. First goal was unlucky but didn’t do enough to clear the lines for the other two .

Asprilla, Pedro and Sarr should be more than enough magic to get automatic promotion but we aren’t getting the best out of them currently , particularly Sarr. He was fairly anonymous apart from one nice run . He did work hard though. He currently doesn’t look the player he was 2 seasons ago,

We still lack control in midfield. Unless we are going to sign someone we need Louza back asap . We are way too slow getting the ball forward at the moment .

I thought qpr actually looked Decent. They passed it around more incisively than Watford and their finishing was decent . Though I suspect they won’t be up there this season !

I still think this team can be knitted into a promotion winning side , but it feels a bit like 2 seasons ago where we struggled to find an identity early on xx That’s’ is fine, but our defence doesn’t look as solid now.

2.28 xG vs Preston who haven't conceded a goal in 6 games.

1.30 xG vs QPR who haven't kept a clean sheet yet.

Well, I didn't expect us to start with more or less 424, and for our back four to be quite so horrendous. If Asprilla or JP had played alongside Chauds and Ken in midfield we might have had some penetrative passing.

Very frustrating that performance, we were arrogant and lazy in the first half. Hopefully the kick up the arse they need

We could have had Xavi and Iniesta last week, but it wouldn't have mattered with Bayo and Manaj up front, at least JP and Sarr are better finishers, even if they're hardly clinical themselves

It means that Bayo and Manaj's finishing has been poor, but not necessarily that they are terrible players or struggling against the defenders of this league. They are just lacking the composure to hit the back of the net..

Which happens for new signings especially ones coming from abroad.

Edwards has had two months of working with our back line and he oversees a performance like that today.

    Simple basic mistakes.

We all know our defence isn’t up to much and needs reinforcements but shouldn’t we still expect better from our coaching staff by now?

I disagree, they are terrible signings who should be nowhere near a team that wants to be promoted. Both of them struggled, and I mean truly struggled, against League One defenders on Tuesday. If they had ANYTHING about them then they'd have stood out against inferior opposition but they didn't. Actually that's a lie, they stood out for the wrong reasons.

    I don't agree.
What changes have you seen? We look awful and we are in the Championship.
We are now getting rolled over too easily as we do not play with any pace and appear to have zero as a game plan.
Edwards looked lost in the dugout today. Perhaps this is a step to far for him.
The players are not good enough and we have next to no money to spend on any new signings.
After last seasons embarrassing showing, the fans expected more in the Championship, but what they see is some old men, dodgy defending, non league signings, no goal threat and a total lack of cohesion out on the pitch.
Long may the fans have a go at the club/players/manager and some members on here.
Some fans are deluded if the believe that what they see on the pitch right now is good enough for promotion.
We were beaten easily by a side very close to the bottom of the league. Beaten without getting a sweat on.
It is not comical for the fans to moan, they are simply fed up with the statements from the club about promotion and support for Edwards, but all they see is the same dog turds out there.
No doubt the WD18 lads will big up the team, but they are being seen as a joke .
If you don't ask, you don't get. So keep on having a go when the performances are toilet.
It's ok, so what if you upset a few members on here. You have those that agitate and those that are not Watford fans. They just trawl the webpages as football fans.
    Enjoy the evening.
Ps: Tuesday evening. Boro to win 2-0.

Just baffled by the state of the club really. I hope Rob gets the full season whatever happens, but it's absolutely criminal we're so under prepared going into the last few days of the transfer window, when we had Rob appointed before last season ended. The only bit of hope right now is that we have Louza, Davis & Hause to improve the squad. We went into the last championship campaign with a real mess of a team, and we've learnt absolutely nothing by doing the exact same thing this time.

No defenders capable of carrying or passing the ball out of defence, and without a central midfielder able to drop deep and pick it up to progress play, we’re always going to be limited in how we play. Reduced to long balls forward and then hoping one of our attacking players can produce something.

Not surprised we looked disjointed, having spent the last couple of months under Edwards trying bed a new system in, and then having to abandon/adapt it for the time being.

All over the place defensively, and yet with a little more quality, we should have been able to exploit their suicidal high line. Too often the final ball was poor.

I do think that we’re a couple of players away from doing really well, but we’ve seen window after window pass by without clear and obvious issues being addressed, so I’m not particularly confident we’ll fill those gaps and give ourselves our best chance.

It's only been 6 games coming into a new club, some new players have come in, the window hasn't shut yet. He needs more time. The first league defeat of the season and the first where we have conceded more than 1 goal. He will know the performance wasn't good enough.

At this rate we might as well sign Brian Wilson and be grateful for that.

Cathcart is a lot better than Kabasele. I can only assume he wasn't fully fit today, if not it's a mistake from Edwards that I hope won't be repeated.
