If you can't get your game going you need to dig in and fight like we did last 20 minutes tonight! Winning games in this manner against sides like Burnley are why we SHOULD be up towards the top of the table come May!

Let's be honest, I doubt many of us thought we'd have 7 points from our first 3 games (tough games as well)!

All in all, thought we were very good for 30 minutes in the first half and looked very well balanced, however, subs in the second half killed our momentum and we started dropping very deep far too early!

Burnley a very good side, probably a striker away from being automatic challengers.

As for us, pleased with the grit and fight as the free-flowing performances haven't been there yet! Have to get into the trenches when it's tough and ride it out.

KD coming in on loan will be a big relief, just hope we are still in the market for a LCB, RWB and CM.

How good was Hamza tonight? MOTM for me along with BARKman.

You must have been watching a different game. A nothing first half from both. Second half they were just coming at us in waves. Look at the stats. If you think we deserved to win then fair play to your yellow specs and agree to disagree!

How many clear cut chances did they create pre-red card? Great defensive display

Kamara let Benson know where he was in the first five minutes then kept him in his pocket. Won the ball multiple times and then played it out with comfort. Covered back several times through balls and his pace was evident. Had two blocks and an interception as well. Unfortunate with his flick attempt for the backpass. Was a deserved red unfortunately. Attacking wise I would like to see more apart from the one time he was played in by Sema and hung the ball back to the far post resulting in a corner. He's a class act Hassane.

Please never let Gosling take a corner again. We would genuinely be better off conceding goal kicks rather than winning corners, so that we don't concede on the counter. Or sign a set-piece taker, that could work too.

    Good result

At times looked good , at times looked overrun

I thought the substitutions looked odd, but got to see a few of our new signings , I think if we hadn’t taken off Sarr and JP we might not have been quite so overrun and might have got something on the break. When Asprila came on I wondered why we had brought on a kid, but although we did t see a lot I think he might have something to him.

    Bachman looked good again

red card a bit of a pain

Can’t argue with 7 points from opening 3 games though

2 top saves from Bachman from memory. How many chances did we create?

I’m not going to argue with you if your going to say black is white when it comes to Burnley being unlucky. Also since when do we remove playing time after red cards from any analysis.

Like I said let’s just agree to disagree.

A strange feeling. Winning is great, but the process to have a system is a slow burner. At the moment we seem to have no policy to retain possession and build attacks. Conceding so much of the ball to opponents will not work in the long run. Hopefully Rob has a plan to deal with this issue.

Positives, Bachmann made some great saves. Choudary looks a good addition. Before the red card issue Kamara was good. Great goal. Young Asprilla looks lively (even skinnier than Ashley when he made his debut), top of the table, new strong centre forward to come in, points taken off promotion challengers, room for improvement.

We showed some passion, energy (for 70 minutes) and for a recently cobbled together bunch a team.
Big shout for Bachmann, Bayo cleared 2 off the line, and Sema gives his soul for us, so I back him in this division.
We've snaffled 7 points against major rivals, and we will improve....
    Happy 'Orn....

    It's lovely to see this...

    1 Watford 3 2 7
    2 Blackburn 2 4 6
    3 Sunderland 2 1 4
    4 Birmingham 2 1 4
    5 Hull 2 1 4
    6 Burnley 3 0 4

But for the second game running I was not very impressed overall. But first some positives. Birthday boy Captain Tom - brilliant goal. It's one of those "keeper can never get there" sort of strikes. Hit it clean, and a good assist from Sema. Quite humorous he was injured celebrating but I hope it's just a knock. We looked a better side than the one who should of got buried at the Hawthorns, so there was improvement. Some of our movement off the ball was better than Monday and we didn't look like we missed Dennis all that much. Really glad we hung on and won - I would never of thought we would get seven from nine from our opening three fixtures - so credit where it's due and Edwards has made a solid start - two clean sheets and three very tough games.

Gosling - wow. I am amazed at how slow he was. I think the heat had a lot to do with it tonight, it must be horrible to play in such humid temperatures in the middle of a second heatwave, so maybe i'll give him some slack. Burnley were very average. Yes they had a lot of possession but very rarely looked a threat. Only towards the end did they pepper is with shots' and looked decent. It's still early days for both sides, but I can still see them being up there end of season. Bachmann - wow. Take a bow Count Dracula. What a performance! Some amazing saves in that second half, finger tip round the post - almost George Banks esq. Cathcart did alright, Sema had a few flurries forward and he does try. It was nice to see Bayo and Asprilla get on too. Kamara - it was a red - he was the last man, so he had to go. It was clumsy and foolish and that's a three match ban. I hope we don't suffer for it.

Overall it was a case of us hanging on in the end as we never looked like scoring a second goal. We still do not look like a side capable of maintaining a challenge all season, and we are yet to go behind in a game to see how we react. Still, we can enjoy the weekend games now with a less pressure. Oh, and Chouds? What a great Debut - has pace and looks promising. Deeney's blues await us next - can we take all three points against our former star man?

Three excellent results considering the opposition and level of performance. We'll roll over half of this division without too much difficulty playing like that. We don't need to dominate the ball if we can be solid at the back and create a couple of moments per half at the other end. Against the top half of the division is where we need to improve in possession but we've just avoided defeat against three teams that may well be in the top six or eight. Fair play to Bachmann. Two absolutely superb shot-stopping performances this week that have helped us to four points.

Exactly, we kept them at arms length for the most part without creating much ourselves until the sending off. It was after the red card they had nearly all their chances.

We've conceded 1 goal in 3 games against teams that are all tipped for a top 6 finish. Bachmann has to take alot of credit for that.

It isn't working upfront though, we seem incapable of holding the ball up and building any sort of momentum. Jp especially keeps getting caught out wanting to take to long on the ball or do something flash and giving it away

yep thought he was good, responsible for a lot of our good control and passing.

Gaspar however looked a bit iffy

and why can’t we sign somebody that can take corners and throw the ball into the box

First half was pretty good I thought, this formation suits our players better definitely. Second half we were poor ever since Sarr came off. Nonetheless, it's good to get 3 points.

Bachmann-excellent again today. I think he improved a lot this season already and it looks like he isn't as glued to the goal line as he was before. Some massive saves again, like in the previous game.

The centre backs were solid in the first half, bit more shaky in the second but I'd say they did a decent job overall.

Gaspar looked very good defensively but I think he got tired towards the end of the match.

Kamara-started poorly but grew into the game and he was pretty good untill a silly mistake which led to his dismissal.

Hamza-did his job well I think. Likes to do the dirty work which is often needed in the Championship. Fenomenal tackle in the second half, overall decent debut.

Cleverley-very well taken goal that got us points. Apart from the goal though he seemed very poor again to me.

Kayembe-much better in the second half than in the first(which was the case with him in the first two games too). I actually didn't think he was better than Cleverley even in the first half. Still I don't think he's good enough and we desperately need new midfielders.

Sarr-looked much more comfortable in his natural position. Caused them all sorts of problems. He also helped out in the defencene which was nice to see.

Sema-fair play to him, he put in a shift again today. Still think ideally he shouldn't be a starter, but I think he showed tonight that he should probably be just about good enough in the Championship if he played on the wing. His work and passion is something that can always be appreciated.

Pedro-again tried really hard and in moments, showed great quality. Still lacking the end product which I hope will come soon.

    Subs:

Gosling-horrendous. By far our worst midfielder. Trully awful performance.

Bayo-good clearance from the only situation where Bachmann made a big mistake today. Apart from that I think he touched the ball 2 or 3 times which is laughable for a 5 million pound striker.

Asprilla-his first run reminded me a bit of that Joao Pedro run on his debut against Arsenal. Looks hungry but you can see he's inexperienced. I hope he'll get a chance to play a bit more than he did today against some lower quality opposition.

Kabasele- wasn't long on the pitch. Did nothing good or bad worth noting.

Biggest positives for me are 3 points, improved performance in the first half and the fact that it seems Bachmann is working on improving himself. Hope we play with the same formation next game and I hope we'll get at least one more midfielder before the window shuts(a winger if Sarr leaves is a must as well).

Bit harsh on Kamara.? He was diving in too much in the first 10 minutes and tried an awful tap backpass for the sending off, but he gives his all, he's quick, and anyone that reminds me of a cross between Robbo and Doyley is alright by me...

I have to say - I thought we looked Promotion ready tonight for the first time in this early season.

You can get one lucky game, hold on for dear luck in another, but we ground one out properly tonight with 10 against a team one would expect to be top 5 in May, whilst still finding our feet. I'm pretty pleased and optimistic for the first time in ages.

A proper hard fought win, it feels so so long since we’ve seen that from a Watford side.

Players working hard, digging in and ultimately giving a sh*t!

Bachmann was excellent, he did everything you’d want a goalkeeper to do and arguably won us the game with some key saves.

Backline was solid enough, Sierralta is a cut above at this level.

The hair seems an ideal signing, will only get better. Also Kayambe did the dirty work very well.

We weren’t brilliant but I’d say an improvement on the first two games and with a new regieme and a fair few new faces you can’t ask for much more.

I think we’d have all gladly taken 7 points from these 3 games.

One particular negative, it must be at least 5 years since we had someone capable of taking a decent bloody set piece!

    Onwards!
