I believe that if Narrich beat us on Tuesday they go up as Champions, which makes me now think they will be so up for it that we will probably lose that match. However, I still fancy us to get something at Brentford and to beat both Millwall & Swansea which would give us 89 points and that would be enough to see us as runners up with automatic promotion. Pedro is going to come back to life and fire us to promotion and Andre Gray is going to have a big hand in it too mark my words!!! "WE ARE GOING UP SAY WE ARE GOING UP"
The Norwich players are getting absolutely smashed tonight. They will all be hungover tomorrow. They will literally do tactics and light training on Monday and that’s about it. If Xisco has any balls, he makes all our players train tomorrow (today for those of you in England). They don’t deserve a rest day. They had at least 3 this past week and look what happened.
I agree with most of this (except Gosling, he's somehow looked even more off the pace than our other players in the last couple of games he's played and he's been left on the bench since for a reason). 3 at the back with Cathcart coming in could well be preferable to a makeshift back 4 with crap full-backs, and we could then try and keep it tight and hit them on the counter. I'd also consider a back 4, but with either Cathcart or Wilmot at LB, basically to stay back and mark Buendia, using their right foot to help prevent him from cutting inside off the wing to get his shots away. I wanted JP dropped for the Luton game, and certainly don't want him starting as our CF again on Tuesday. Gray should start to help us try and nick something on the break.
***** LOL at anyone who thinks we'll get anything from this match. We are done. Meek surrender in the play offs beckons. Remember the gutless defeat against West ham last year? History is repeating itself but with shytter teams humiliating us this time.
Yep, Norwich in party mode against Navarro and Troost-Ekong, it's going to be a massacre. Old Troosty, the experienced Nigerian captain and calming influence in the defence, will **** his pants when they press him so he'll be giving them the ball about 30 yards from our goal over and over again. That's if we ever get the ball off Norwich. Alternatively he'll **** his pants and hoof it in the general direction of Pedro. Sarr will be pocketed by their backup left back. Sema will spend the whole game running towards our goal trying to keep up with Aarons, which he'll fail at as he usually loses his man. With the way Norwich play through the lines and our lack of mobility in midfield we may as well not bother fielding one. Just plop Hughes in front of the defence and get rid of whatever passengers are normally either side of him. Either way I'm sure it's all part of Xisco's plan.
You guys OK? The sun is shining, life is good, the light at the end of the tunnel is not the train coming the other way.. It’s all going to be fine.. I suggest Citalopram, it’s a happy pill .. Cheer up, we’re going up. See you at the pond..
"Experts" with their negative opinions !! Big lolz!! I bet they think that they are the font of all footballing knowledge! Any fool can claim " we are shyte, we won't win" and statistically they are probably correct as only around 33\35% of all football teams will win their match . You know those pub bores who say "England won't win the Euros\WC" ? Well they have all the other 31 teams to prove their point however they can never tell you who will win Pub bores , internet bores ....meh!
I think the majority of this forum (except manatleisure) saw that Gray needed to be replaced. Most posters can see that Troost is a liability with the ball.
We turned it around before and we can do it again but it requires the players and coaches to get together and get rid of this negative mentality that seems to have pervaded the team since the resumption of the league. We play best when we are on the front foot and attacking. In recent matches it seems the mentality has been not to lose. It invites pressure and despite the defensive record it is something I would not want any team to do especially mine. Xisco will need to be tactically adept to match Farke and someone has to keep an eye on Buendia. He makes Norwich tick and may feature in the Copa America although it is an outside chance given that Palacios is resurgent at Leverkusen. At least we can expect Norwich to come at us and not sit back like most teams do in this division which should in theory allow our front three more space and chances. However we will need to keep a lid on their midfield which led by Buendia is formidable and in order to make sure that front three are in the game. We need Masina and Ngakia back given Femenia is suspended rather stupidly. If they are not available Wilmot has to come in. It is shocking how after playing so well earlier in the season he has been relegated to the substitutes bench curtailing his development. Kabasele with his pace I would add at right back which is a risk or how about we go to a back three ? It might suit us given the preponderance of midfielders we have. Above all we need to cut out the sloppiness in terms of passing. I saw three well executed passing moves in the match against the scum. Passes direct and into feet with rapid movement off it. The rest of the match the number of times the ball was given away cheaply as with Pedro several times was appalling and curtailed any chance of creating opportunities going forward. And of course a sloppy backwards pass results in a penalty. The passivity is also unacceptable. You cannot wait for things to happen you have to make them happen. It was only when we conceded we showed urgency and desire and created pressure and a disallowed goal. Why that was not there from the start is concerning. We played like mice with timidity summed up by the well worked corner that left Zinckernagel who instead of taking a step forward and belting it chipped it tamely into the hands of the slug. The players need to be made to understand that any sort of repetition will result in a drubbing. They need to be made aware of what is at stake because it is still very much in our own hands. -----------------------------------------------Bachmann-------------------------------------------- Kabasele-----------------Troost-Ekong------------------Sierralta-----------------------Wilmot ------------------------------------------Hughes---------------------------------------------------- -------------------Zinckernagel-----------------------------Cleverley---------------------------- -------Sarr-------------------------------Pedro---------------------------Sema------------------- Set up for counterattack and stifle any of their play down the flank. Not so obviously, but wots the point of being negative all the time? Most of what you fear will happen, won’t happen. And I bet most of what you just posted re the Norwich game won’t happen. FEAR False Evidence Appearing Real.
Probably because its hard to be upbeat when our biggest rivals, who are utter shyt, have just beaten us without breaking sweat within the last 24 hours FFS. what do you expect?
That is a fair point and most of our away performances have been pretty rubbish all season. Others teams complain about the parachute payments having an advantage which might be true but apart from Sarr there aren’t too many players attacking wise we have who are a cut above in this league.
If Brentford win and we don’t, they will now go above us on GD if they match our result at the weekend and then beat us. The situation will be clearer Saturday evening. We really need Muff to take points from Brentford on Saturday.
Surely this only holds if they also get a positive result vs Rotherham? (Not that I am suggesting they won’t).
If they win tonight and we don’t, they will know their destiny will be in their own hands for the first time in ages, with 4 games to play.
Yes Tuesday. It’s not exactly the same as I’d written but an easier way to describe the position. I wasn’t assuming they’d beat in the same way I wasn’t assuming we’d beat Millwall.
I doubt Munoz will change anything. He found a formula that worked, and even if it's not working now, he will stick to it and hope it does. Personally I'd bring Foster back. We need his experience. Bachmann has done quite well, but I really believe he leads a charmed life. I've never known a keeper get away with standing on his line as much as he does. I'd play Kabs as well, and bring in Ngakia to cover the Kiko absence. In midfield I'd play Chalobah (if fit) or Gosling if not. Cleverley has to play instead of Zinckernagel. Probably have to stick with Sema, Pedro and Sarr across the front line, even though they're far from performing well, we have no viable alternatives.
I was spitting blood yesterday watching the game, pathetically poor performance the players were clearly not up for and some poor tactical choices by the Cisco Kid. Agree with all of that and the sad thing is we won’t be playing the scummers for a while to make amends. I was really pissed off. But that’s not allowing me to carry on being pissed off going into the other crucial games - and our run will not suddenly nose dive to another 4 losses. We’re going up I tell you and if we don’t you can crucify me ...
Gray must start at Norwich. He even got the ball in the net on Saturday, something that Pedro hasn’t looked like doing for ages now.
I tend to agree regarding Foster. Bachmann has done well but he looked shell shocked yesterday sand was resigned to a red card before that ninny Ward gave him a yellow. Would Xisco put someone on Bon Jovi and if so who,TC perhaps?
Not if we don’t beat Millwall. They’d just need to win their last 4 games if they make up 2 points on Tuesday. If we drop more points, against Millwall or Swansea, they can drop points too.
The order for me is Pedro, Deeney, Perica, Gray, Success. But I agree, maybe switching Pedro for Gray would be beneficial for this game. We've got to look at it as a free hit. Maybe that will take the pressure off and allow the players to perform a bit. Norwich will allow us to play and their pitch will be a lot better, but they are in cruise control now. They are already up and if they beat us they win the league. For them, it's all to play for. Anyone playing Norwich after Tuesday will probably do quite well as they will literally have nothing to play for.
I think it was a free hit if we beat Luton. I think we need to win now. If Brentford make up 2 points on Tuesday they know win their last 4 and they are up. That is the likely outcome on Tuesday but we have to go for the win now.
This was the original post. They can’t overtake us after winning the game with us unless they win both midweek games assuming they only match our result next weekend. As you say it is easier mathematically just to see them winning the last four and being promoted if they make up two points on Tuesday.
Just trying to demonstrate that the job for Brentford is slightly harder than you had originally suggested...Heaven knows we need some positivity.
Cleverley absolutely has to play, no question, I just hope he's fit enough to start. Zinckernagel, if he's fit can play left-wing, he's been up and down of late, which is more than can be said for Sema in all fairness. Reckon Chalobah should be fit tbf, he'd be a big boost
You’re right I’d assumed that win in drawing up positions at that time but it’s only really the position after 46 games I’m interested in. The order of the wins doesn’t really matter.
I entirely agree with that. Let me throw in a more positive one. I’m fairly sure that if we beat Swansea, irrespective of what happens between now and then and barring a significant shift in GD, we must finish above them.
That’s Correct. Yes I’m less worried about Swansea, but again I wouldn’t want to be in a position where we had to beat them to finish above them.
Time for major surgery me thinks: - Bring back Big Ben, ditch WTE, Lazarr & Success also rest Pedro & Sema. Foster Ngakia (Kabaselle or Cathcart) Serrialta Wilmot Chalobah (Sanchez if unfit) Cleverly Hughes Sarr Gray (I can't believe it myself) Zinckernagel Bachmann Pedro Sema Sanchez if Chalobah fit (A N Other if not) Hungbo Kabaselle or Cathcart WTE Pericia Gosling
