Also highlights the squad mismanagement for large parts of the season, which left us so short in this position!
Today's results have been strange. Surprised to see Brentford and Swansea only draw at home. If we'd have won we'd be almost home and dry. Need much, much better performances now in the last 4 games. It is going very Watfordy at present, we do like to make things hard for ourselves.
Gray’s goal was wrongly chalked off but JP does a lot of things that Andre doesn’t like to do, like pick up passes deeper. AG likes to go in or around the box mostly. This game it seemed he was expected to get the ball higher but he wasn’t linking with Carlos or Zinc. We looked slightly better when Clevs came in and we were moving the ball quicker. Of course we missed Chalobah today as well. Kiko will be out for Norwich. His first bad game in a while. Norwich are up. Well done. Incredibly consistent and deserved to get promoted. We’ll get that too, if the players are up for it
With the greatest of respect to this cohort...I don't think any of them were feeling any more nervous about this game than they would have felt about any other team
I don’t think we will miss out. To fail from here would be one of the biggest meltdowns in football history.
Christ. Losing to Luton in the playoff final would be bad enough. I can't even contemplate losing to the scum in the playoff final.
Probably, but is this result going to kick the stuffing out of them? I don't think so, I think they'll just play on
Haven't a clue Folkestone. Would you expect senior pros like Almunia and Masina to pull up in the last minute?
You would have thought to get that far in their field most footballers could cope under pressure. Masina always struck me as quite a passionate player, so seems odd that he wouldn't want to play!
Would of loved to be a "fly on the wall" in Xisco's post match team talk. Mind you, being a fly on that particular changing room wall may of been dangerous to my limited life span.
The last 4 games have not been good enough but was tempered with the points we accumulated. We play our local rivals and can't muster one chance on target and create only 5 in the whole game. This is not a mere over-reaction. They need their "asses kicked until they are a jelly"[1]. Ref: [1] M Barrett, Rickmansworth School, 1970s
Hughes definitely not captain material. Been a huge disappointment for me this season considering he's been fit for the majority of it. Honestly thought a few years ago he'd go from strength to strength but he's not pushed on at all
Depends if you count a massive brainfart as an injury. He did a professional foul/tug on a breaking Luton player when he was on a yellow. It was not even remotely preventing a goal scoring opportunity (hence the yellow) but a really stupid challenge to make and made an uphill struggle many times worse. Talk about blotting your copybook.
I don't think so. I vaguely remembering him arsing something up in the first half. God he was poor today. I think the performance was so dire I was trying to erase it from memory. The official stats say no chances on target.
