According to John Percy, Leicester are looking at signing Nate.

    Really ..

    Surely only as cover?

Not sure he’d get in the team @Filbert

    Makes no sense.
Why would they consider letting Choudhury leave and replace with an older, slower version?

I bet he's one of our higher earners, was seen as quite a coup to sign him when we did. But he's never been the same since his injury and has only really had a handful of good performances this season. Think he'd get eaten alive in the Premier League where he's even more likely to get caught on the ball which is his major weakness.

If we can get decent money for him and bring in a couple of others, this would be a good move for us.

I agree entirely but if we,as fans, can see that he is caught in possession than surely the highly analytical, multitude of coaches, coaching assistants, cooks and bottle washers will have spotted it?
Then again it is football so...

I think we all know that's not happening! I'm sure he is on relatively big wages for the Championship, though I don't think either of the midfielders we're linked with in Gosling and Longstaff would do a better job, so ideally, I'd keep Chalobah, get Longstaff and get a striker in (Vydra? Jephcott? A. N. Other?)

Depends what his xCIPTEFCS (expected Caught in Possession That Even Fans Can Spot) stats are.

According to Leventhal what our entire midfield strategy actually is, is a totally improvised clusterfu ck:

    Ah yes!
    Silly of me.
Football coaches are clearly becoming like their tennis counterparts, speaking in tongues.
Reminds me of Hancock; "Can you put it another way? In English, fool!"

Love how Leventhal just regurgitates what he reads after googling “Watford rumours”.

Based on recent games I'd sooner sell Hughes tbh.

I would glady sell him but we'd need at least 2 midfielders in. Garner, Capoue and Chalobah out would leave us incredibly short as we are missing TDB obviously too (and Quina for a while longer).

Selling Chalobah makes sense, but not if we only bring in Gosling and a PL loan.

This would be the strangest signing of the window he is too crap and needs replacing at Watford yet Leicester want to sign him and let a player go who is better than him.

This has to be a wind up.

I definitely would have been content to see him leave for a big enough fee earlier in the window, but at this stage it just leaves us with too much change in the midfield department. How many midfielders would we need to suddenly bring in? Gosling + one? Gosling + two? Our recruitment planning in midfield seems very rudderless at the moment.

Putting my groundlessly-optimistic-dreamer hat on, if we could sell him for any number in the multiple millions, we could go back and spunk it all straight away on Siliki, presumably. None of this will ever happen, though, of course.

Siliki and Chalobah are very different players. I think Siliki is an interesting player for sure, but if we somehow had £5m to spend, he wouldn’t be how I would spend it.

I find it interesting how signing Siliki is somehow our saviour and would show that we mean business etc but signing Gosling is a travesty. While the former is younger, it isn’t clear to me that he is considerably better (although Siliki is more of a creative type)

We haven't been signing players like-for-like or with a particularly coherent tactical strategy in mind up to now, nor seemingly the players we've been linked to, and we do need a player like Siliki, so that doesn't bother me much. It's not like Chalobah is particularly special in that role for us himself.

Ah, the good old 'player might leave but doesn't so we managed to hold on to him so that's better business than spending money' Watford FC transfer deadline tradition.

Might have worked better of they'd used Newcastle or West Brom rather than a team full of young midfield talent.

He's been decent recently, definite signs his mojo is still in there somewhere

It would be a huge mistake to sell

Chalobah leaving Watford is similar to a surgeon cutting a chunk of cancer out of a patient.

Deeney, Gray, Kabasele and Femenia next please.

I couldn't give a monkeys about his performances this season. His weak, anxious, half-a*sed style of play is what got us relegated last season. Attitude is infectious. We have too many players that don't have the fight or grit required. The more that leave the better

Bit harsh on Chalobah there - he did ok under Pearson as did most of the team.

The whole lot of them were rubbish under anyone else.

In the off-chance that we get promoted, I wouldn't want to see a player like Femenia in our team up there.

Ngakia should be playing. A young lad who has a pair of balls and long-term value to this club.

Again, a different argument. The club for the next 6 months has to be focussed on its short-term goals. There’s just no reasoning in that respect to justify dropping our best performer so far this season on a point of principle.

I would also strongly argue that Femenia has done more to uphold the words and supposed intent of the statement made in the summer than any other player so far - and certainly more than those that wrote it and run the club.
