Foster Kiko - Kabasele - Dawson - Masina Capoue - Hughes Sarr - Doucoure - Pedro Welbeck Get at them from the off, we need an early goal otherwise nerves will creep in.
Well unless you're Derby level ****, some of your players are always going to impress and stay in the top flight. Cantwell and Buendia will be snapped up in an instant, but outside of them, I'm sure Norwich will be confident of keeping most of the rest of them, which should stand them in good stead for a promotion charge next season
Wouldn't do that for a must win game but if we were to would have to be other way round surely? Masina's crossing is horrible, always hits it really flat and to the edge of the box. Holebas would love a go at left wing, suspect that's where he's always wanted to play. But if Pearson plays two left backs in a must win game against the bottom team, we really are screwed!
I'd go with Pedro myself, he seems to have more ability to open up teams than Pussetto who seems to be more industrious and hardworking yet fairly limited
Is Masina actually our best centre back? He's been no worse than the other lot lol, it's just he's been needed on the left all season. Wouldn't mind Holebas playing on the wing, his legs have gone so he's useless as a defender, but he put in an excellent ball for the goal against Southampton, although I doubt he can go 90 without fading
Except he is not limited. You need to watch some of the games he has actually played not the grand sum of a handful of minutes coming off the bench.
Possibly that way round might be better, although I think Masina can strike the ball really well, maybe needs more consistency. The main purpose would be to get the other midfielders into the box supporting the front two far more than we’ve seen thus far. We don’t need two holding mids in this fixture, so whilst in isolation it can be seen as negative, if used the right way it could be the opposite.
Would love Pussetto/Pedro or both to get a chance here. Can't do worse and they will have pace and energy.
Couldn't even get on the bench on Saturday so seems unlikely to start. Shakesphere talked up Pedro but that might have just to boost his confidence. Our full backs should be able to get forward more and help Sarr and another. We have to be attack minded from the off. Which we haven't been in any of the game so far. Another reason to attack them maybe ? https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...lor-named-referee-watfords-game-norwich-city/
I hope the Watford catering staff are watching the German promotion play - off tonight, the Heidenheim chefs are sitting in the stands beating their pots with ladles, it's definitely creating a better atmosphere than anything I've seen at a premier league ground since the lock down ended. #cookingupastormforthegoldenboys
Foster Femenia Dawson Kabasele (consider Mariappa even though he’s poor as he may be more prepared for the fight than Kabs) Masina (not as bad as some of the others and seems to care a little bit more) Hughes Doucoure Sarr Pussetto (not that I’ve seen enough of him but froM the little I’ve seen he seems to have energy and a point to prove) Welbeck (he’s still off the pace but as others have pointed out offers more than the alternative and has a point to prove) Pedro (he going to be motivated and want to do well in the premiership, unknown quantity could backfire and put his career back but it’s last chance saloon so gamble everything) Not bothered about Gray being on the bench not cos of his patty but because he’s not the answer and I doubt his commitment. Sub options: Chalobah, Holebas and any vaguely talented youths The reality is Deeney will unfortunately start. There’s some Einstein quote about the definition of insanity being doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results: Welcome to Watford FC. We can’t sit deep. We look so much better when we press high up the pitch and hassle the opposition. We did it briefly against Leicester and Chelsea. If we don’t have the energy to press for 90 minutes we need to coordinate periods when the whole team presses. I’m not sure if I am mentally strong enough to watch it but I probably will try although it makes me depressed just thinking about it.
Its 1-0 to us deep into injury time. Norwich win a corner, and it's bundled in off Deeney's fat arse.
This is it guys, a REALLY MUST WIN........................................... COME ON U 'ORNNNNNNNNSSSSSSSSSS
Capoue's form has been a concern of late, understandable that he's not hit the heights of the last few years, but disappointing nonetheless. Maybe we need to start moving him into the background for next season, and go for play Hughes and Chalobah together (maybe Quina in a more advanced role if Doucs leaves too)
I've had it with the doom and gloom. We'll win tonight and Welbeck will score. I'm not too concerned about it. I believe the players will finally put in a performance and get the result we need, although we do have Anthony "c&nt" Taylor as referee, so that could be the one fly in the ointment. We really need back-to-back wins though. None of this 4 points from two games nonsense. It has to be 6 points now.....nothing less. We'll then be in a position of needing probably only a point from the last 3 games, if any.
Hate to say it but I have a horrible feeling about this. Two early goals from them and we just capitulate. Welbeck on in the 80th minute to register our only shot on target.
"Pressure is a privilege" - Billie Jean King. Good luck everyone. See you on the other side. Enjoy every sandwich.
Sounds like us ! If Welbeck doesn't start then I think it's the same for him. Carrying a knock so cannot start but we don't have anyone else to come on as Gray is unwanted. BTW speaking of Hernandez.. Article on the BBC about him: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53277532
Apologies for the long reply as it struck a chord with me reading the multitude of posts from so many forum members. Of course i get that the club want to be "the best of the rest" and use their model to stay in PL, maybe have designs on a new stadium. The owners have done a lot for the club and the ground but IMHO there is an inevitability about a club with limited resources (wealth in the main) surviving in the PL. We all know who the top 7 are then there is Wolves and Leicester plus Saints, Newcastle and West Ham with either/both wealthy owners and or clear potential (appreciating that West Ham are far from safe). That leaves 8 of us and in the wealth league its no surprise that Burnley went down as we went up so 5 of last 6 seasons in PL-Norwich 2 of last 6. It looks like time is up for BMuff and probably us whereas C Pal and BHA are for this season safe. Villa only came up last season and for now Sheff U are doing well. We can debate the reasons for our current plight-model/Giraldi/Deeney/managers/squad age/poor signings but in my mind its what happens when you have "outperformed" and then you have a bumpy period. Yoyo club is what GT said was no shame and i sense that is what we are likely to be. It's good to be visionary and we were with GT/EJ and latterly with Gino but you can only outperform for so long. Defeatist well maybe, realistic probably-supporter of the club (like all of us on here) whether we stay up or go down, definitely
Taylor's on a hattrick. Gave us penalties in our home games with Arsenal and Chelsea already this season.
He only gave the one against Chelsea because Mike Dean bizarrely overrode him on VAR. He gave a penalty because Mike told him to. The Arsenal one was so blatant that even he had to give it. He's still a see you next Tuesday.
